I've been a Sarah Hegger fan since I read and reviewed The Betrothal Melee back in February which is set in Europe during medieval times.  Sugar Ellie is a western romance set in the Americas which just goes to show that Ms. Hegger can easily write about different times and settings while capturing the essence of the era and the characters.

Sugar Ellie Pierce is a force to be reckoned with. She's been running the girls at The Four Kings and a Queen Saloon for many years, but her least favorite b

What’s a smart, sassy cathouse madam Sugar Ellie to do when her brothers’ decide on a course of action that would dramatically alter her life for the worst. There’s only one option, strike a bargain with gambler and gun slinger Cole “Whiskey” Mansfield. Fate collides when Ellie and Cole strike a deal to get Ellie out of Rattler’s Gulch. While they have the same goal, neither Ellie nor Cole are what they seem, Ellie trying to leave her present in the last and Cole is a man trying to make amends w ...more

Jake and the twins were just snakes.
One brother missing and the other brothers well they are the worse ever and this is what Ellie has to deal with. When things become impossible Ellie runs and would you believe Cole “Whiskey” Mansfield is going to be her knight in shiny armor? Oh, guess what problems keep coming her way. The author has written this piece with such humor it was truly a wonderful read. I loved the unique characters in this piece too, gamblers, soiled doves, and a farmer who thin

I discovered a new author I can enjoy. This is the first, but it won’t be the last, book I read by this author. I was blown away. So many feels while reading. At first I wasn’t certain what was going to happen...a whorehouse madam? But I liked Ellie’s character! I wanted to murder her worthless brothers. Had the hots for Whiskey. Cried, laughed out loud, loved Joy, loved and detested characters because they were good or mean to Ellie. This book is fantastic, Outstanding. Only thing i

I really thought this read was delightful and it left me very eager for future releases in this series. I thought Ellie and Cole made an intriguing pair that worked beautifully together. Each of these characters has their own drama/baggage that is plaguing them and that helps add depth to the story, complexity to the characters and tension to their growing relationship. I felt the story itself had a freshness to it as I do not ever recall coming across something similar before but of course, tha ...more

This is the first book in the Soiled Dove Series, a great Historical Romance. I loved it! Sarah Hegger never disappoints. Ellie is an amazing character, strong, smart, independent, and determined. Cole is handsome, protective, and supportive. I like their slow burn story, and their sizzling chemistry. They are perfect together! The storyline has a great pace, and is filled with adventure, and twists and turns. I loved to follow them in their journey. The supporting characters are great and intri ...more

This was a fun Western romance filled with humor and adventure. Ms. Hegger does a great job of setting the stage and creating enough interest and intrigue to pull you in right from the beginning. Sugar Ellie is a smart and sassy woman who can surely hold her own. But when she's forced to escape the scheming of her family, she turns to Cole “Whiskey” Mansfield for help. Plenty of drama to keep me turning the pages and plenty of humor to keep me smiling. A very enjoyable and entertaining book, ind ...more

She's a pistol in the Wild West

Sugar Ellie is the first book in the Soiled Doves series and is a wild western set in the 1800's. This book is a charming story about Ellie and Cole who have an interesting dynamic.
I don't read period books but as I have read and loved/liked Sarah Hagar books I decided to pick this one up and see what happened. I am glad that I did as I enjoyed this story. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

I can honestly say I love everything this author writes. The first book in a awesome promising new series has just won a coveted spot on my keeper shelf. With everything going on in the world it was wonderful to step back in time and live vicariously through Sugar Ellie. The story was unique, characters to love, hate and laugh at, and twists and turns I didn't see coming. It was escapism at its best. I'm so looking forward to see where the next story takes me. I love Sugar Ellie and Cole. ...more

I am a huge fan of Sarah Hegger and have been reading her books since Positively Pippa. In Sugar Ellie we find Ellie running a brothel with her brothers. Going on the run with Cole who has demons on his own. The pair race from Settle to New York is fun and filled with its own perils. I could not put the book down and stayed up all night reading it. Sugar and Ellie like all of Sarah's books Sugar Ellie is quick witted, fun, and tugs at your heart strings. ...more

Hegger has created a charming story set in the rough and tumble old West with just enough drama and a romance to keep us entertained. The characters are insightful, a trademark of this author, and make us think about how we treat people based on assumptions. I’m looking forward to the next in the Soiled Dove series!

This was a fun book that brought us back to the cowboy era. Sugar Ellie ran the girl in their establishment. When her brothers decided she could make more money doing other things she up and ran with a friend. Needless to say their trip was not always easy and the adventure turned out the way it should.

I really enjoyed this book and did not want to put it down

This was such a great read! I admittedly do not recall reading a historical western romance before, and after reading this I definitely want to pursue this genre. Sarah Hegger is such an amazing author and gives her characters such depth and crazy fun adventures. You will truly enjoy reading Sugar Ellie’s adventures and mishaps.

Wonderful book with Sweet Ellie running the local cathouse and Cole the gambler who helps her to escape the rotten plan by her brothers. Enjoyed her sassy feisty personality and Cole was a strong dependable character in this story. This is diffently a page turned that is hard to put down.
