For the most optimum reading experience, I highly recommend you read the first book in this series before starting this one. Trust me, you’ll be grateful you did as it lays the foundation rather nicely.

Brad Sanderson and Molly Carter have been best friends as long as they have memories. Their families are good friends and they grew up together, almost like siblings. At some point, her feelings towards him became less friendly and more...lovingly. He’s four years older and when he left for colleg

Aftermath of Secrets by Cate Beauman is the second book in the Carter Island Series. This installment features a different couple, however, it is best to read the series in order, as there are events occurring, which link to the previous book, Secrets in the Glass. Aftermath of Secrets explored the after effects the explosive events of book one had on the main characters.

The hero Bradley Sanderson life turned upside down due to the actions of his family. Actions, which led to one of the biggest

A secret discovered has a way of unearthing other secrets along with it.

When Callie’s past came calling, it dragged in the Sanderson family name along with it; forcing Bradley Sanderson return to Carter Island. From being a brilliant doctor with a promising career in the big city, Brad is now forced to take up the responsibility of running his uncle’s clinic on the Island. For he is forced to bear the sins of his forefathers – the founding family of the town that had some dark secrets buried. Bu

Aftermath by Cate Beauman is Book II of the Charter Island series and picks up where book one left off, though it is Molly and Brad’s turn to be in the spotlight. I don’t know why Aftermath fell a little flat, unless it was because I was blown away by Secrets in the Glass and read it immediately after, and it didn’t grab me, like the first one. Could it be because I wasn’t as invested in the characters and their outcome, like I was with Callie and Nate?

This book was everything, so suspenseful and it kept me turning the pages. The writing was amazing. Every now and again, I think of authors, and who I would like to sit and get to know, dive into how their brains work and Cate is one of them. Bravo!

What a ride this book takes you on!

Aftermath of Secrets is the second book in the author's Carter Island trilogy, and as the title suggests, a lot of the book finds the characters (mostly Molly and Brad, since it is "their" book, but the rest of their friends and families too) dealing with the aftermath of what happened in the first book. You *can* read it without having read the first book--you will mostly get the gist of what happened there--bu

Anyone who follows my reviews has probably figured out that I’m a romantic suspense junkie. And I’m a series junkie. Long before I was a book reviewer and blogger, I was an avid reader. I found Cate Beauman’s Bodyguards of LA County series quite some time ago, and I devoured each one as soon as they released. When the first book in The Carter Island Novels series went live, I was a bit giddy. When it was about three years between books, I was more than a tiny bit despondent. Suffice it to say th ...more

Aftermath of Secrets is the second novel in the Carter Island Series. Usually, the second book in a series is good, but not exactly as good as the first. Not so with this series! I loved the first novel and I’ve swooned and cried over the second.
If you’ve read the first novel, you’ll love this story. It’s the story of Molly and Brad. They’ve known each other all their lives, but the road to finding love and peace is as turbulent as the ferry ride on a bad weather day! However, it’s so worth the

“Aftermath of Secrets” by Cate Beauman continues the saga of life on Carter Island and centers on Dr. Bradley (Brad) Sanderson, who has returned to the island to take over his uncle’s medical practice, and Molly Carter, who has grown up from the young girl he used to hang out with until one memorable night caused an estrangement. Renewing their relationship will take work, but they may not both be willing to go all in to make it a success.

The second in the series didn't prove to be as action packed as the first. There wasn't really any who-done-it moments, we know who did it, why and how, at this point. This was more like...the title, the aftermath. I love Brad and Molly, and I loved getting to see the others as well, getting a glimpse of what happened after the horrible events of Secrets Hidden in the Glass. We pretty much take up where the first book left off, with the families trying to pick up the pieces and try and make sens ...more

Aftermath of Secrets is the second book in Cate Beauman's Carter Island trilogy and follows a new couple; does that mean you can read it as a standalone?

Technically, yes, you could as the previous main characters are reintroduced in a way you'd get who they are even if you haven't read the first book. However, a lot of what Brad is going through is the aftermath (thus the title) of what happened in the first book, so I recommend you start with Secrets Hidden in the Glass.

So, how do I feel about

Secrets Hidden in the Glass left me anxious to discover how the dirty laundry played out on Carter Island. Because of the community being so close-knit, there aren't too many who haven't been affected by the past and current events. Brad Sanderson comes back to keep the clinic up and running -- but he has a lot of demons waiting to be reckoned with. His family has been ripped apart and there is a lot of unfinished business with Molly Carter.

This pair's friendship was interrupted by a night of de

You really have to read the first book in this series to understand what is going on. It can be read as a stand alone--but there are undercurrents that happened in book one which is why all that happens happens.

The Sandersons were a founding family of the town--but the older generation did things-unspeakable things that left Brad holding the bag. He had escaped this little town and lived in Boston--a prominent doctor. His uncle who ran the clinic in the little town was involved with the atrociti

While not as suspenseful as the first book in The Carter Island Trilogy, Aftermath of Secrets by Cate Beauman is a standout with world-building and character backstories. The author added a bit of mystery throughout the pages to keep the pages turning.

Both Molly and Brad were intriguing characters, each with their own worries and flaws. This story also entrenched pivotal characters from the first book. I would highly recommend reading the first book in the trilogy before starting this one as it

Aftermath of Secrets follows the lives of Molly and Brad after the turmoil of the preceding novel, secrets hidden in the glass. Brad finds himself left holding his family together when all he wants is to make a life for himself and follow his own path. When Brads’ half-brother joins him on Carter island, Brad is starting to think that his new life is beginning, especially since he has found the love of his life. Molly, Carter Island’s very own star baker, knows what she wants but is scared to ha ...more

I found Cate Beauman’s second installment from her Carter Island series, Aftermath of Secrets, to be a great read. I loved the first book and this one does not disappoint. It was great going back to this beautiful community. The story was full of mystery, suspense, action, adventure and romance. Could not ask for more than that.

I am giving Aftermath of Secrets five plus stars. I am hoping there will be more releasing soon from the Carter Island series.

I received this book from the author. This

Amazing Book

I found this author by accident years ago. I read every single one of her Bodyguards of LA series and couldn't wait for the next one. Somehow she published Secrets in the Glass without me knowing and fell instantly in love with Carter Island. Brad and Molly have great chemistry and their grand romance is what little girls dream of. I sincerely hope Gwen gets her own book and we can revisit Carter Island for years to come.

Welcome Return

So good to have Cate Beauman back after a few years. This second Carter Island outing is a change from her great romantic suspense novels to a more of a contemporary romance. Thoroughly enjoyed Molly and Brad’s story. There were some sticky wicket issues that they face as their relationship moves forward and there are a few darker moments reminiscent of her LA Bodyguards series. Look forward to the third book in the trilogy!

The Aftermath of Secrets is intriguing. A wonderful follow up to book one, this book has a better pace with all the romance and drama with a dash of mystery that the first book has. Molly and Brad will capture your heart just as quickly as Callie and Nate did. Brad's life might be complicated, but when is love ever easy? Grab your favorite drink and curl up for a few hours with a great story. ...more

So fantastic!

Molly gets her story and it is powerful! I love the Carter's and the Sanderson drama. I just wish the story had been longer. It felt like there were still things for them to complete. I am not sure how there can only be one more book. It feels like a bigger series to me. Bravo Cate!

Couldn’t put it Down!

OMG! I was up last night until 3 am finishing this book. I couldn’t put it down. Brad and Mols make the best couple. Sometimes I wasn’t sure they were going to make it. Great feels and felt so real. Can’t wait to preorder the final book.

Love this new series from Cate Beauman. Good stories. Not so keen on sex scenes but they are not the soft pornography of some authors these days so you don’t have to flick over 10plus pages to get past them. Good characters I could relate to and like.

Lovely sequel

Enjoyed Brad and Molly's story. Was sorry about his brother annoyed by Uncle Dereck and his dad. Loved how everyone melled together, especially Kaitlyn
Highly recommended.

Great followup

I love her characters and her description of places in the island. It ended rather abruptly though. Maybe she will do another story on Jordan.

Enjoyed the first Carter Island story best, but this was also good. Brad was my favorite character. I thought the author did a great job getting across his familial conflict.
