sometimes I'll read a book just for shits and giggles, not expecting much from it. This was one of those books, and yet, even with lowered expectations, it managed to disappoint.

When Dee's alcoholic husband kills himself, God suddenly whooshes into her life and makes everything better, mostly thanks to the life insurance policies her husband had (thank God for that). Most of the book is a look back on her tortured life married to an alcoholic, but I couldn't help but wonder why God didn't intervene earlier.

I guess sometimes he works in mysterious ways. Like by allowing your husband to die so you can have a better life in his absence.

It's a simple read, and a story with a good ending.
