The story started out with intriguing characters, a seemingly unique plot and a promise that it was different than the typical U/F genre books....

But alas, I was disappointed!

The character development was poorly written and fast paced at times.....

The entire story needed to be centered....

There was just too much going on and things weren't very well explained.....

It was ok. I loved that this book had plenty of action. There were some things I wish were more apparent in the synopsis. For example, this book is set in the future. Also the guy on the cover does not look like how Ashe, the male lead, is described. I didn’t fully understand the world this book takes place in. How does Callie feed? It’s not really explained. I felt like I needed more history or background to understand how this world works. It definitely came off as original, but I just needed ...more

Nightmare king looking for redemption

Dark paranormal romance can be over the top with the darkness and light on details, but with this one there was more than just the idea of being dark. There was the fact that out leading man was indeed dark and tortured. His soul (if fae have one) was in pain and despair. This once proud king, Ashe, had every reason in the world (his world and ours) to stay away from anything to do with females of any race or species. But with that all said he had one thing

Overall I enjoyed this book. It is filled with action, romance, lust, and some humor. The writing is vivid and descriptive. Characters develop well. I loved the interaction and intense connection between Ashe and Callie. The plot was fast- paced and there were a few twists I didn’t see coming which is always pleasant.

My main complaint is that I wanted more definition of the different kyn races. The history, specific abilities, and interaction in the human world was not very clear. It felt brush

Loved this book! A fast moving, hot romance with a bad ass female lead. I binged this entire book in one day wanting to know what happened next. The lore created in the story is compelling and I definitely want to learn more about it. The main characters experience a good amount of growth, and I had a ton of fun watching the main protagonist come into her own.

I want to have more world building within this universe, so I can better understand where humans are in this future world, especially whe

Ok, this book is a little tricky to review. The reason for that is because the book has a few issues. Inherently, it’s not a bad book, but I believe it would be better if these things were addressed.

First of all, I felt a little disjointed towards the beginning of the storyline because the reader is presented to a very imaginative world, very description heavy creatures, and a very dense history

When Rachel approached me to read this advanced reader copy, I jumped at the chance! I wasn't sure what to expect, but I love paranormal books. I was extremely excited to jump in and see where this book took me. The one thing that I loved the most about this book was the world. Rachel knows how to make a mysterious world where faeries and supernatural bei

A fast-paced Magical, action-packed ball to the wall read that any fantasy lover will enjoy

When I first picked this up I figured it would be a solid read - nothing I would shun my adulting duties for mind you.
It had a catchy blurb and that cover spoke to me.
This started as I was expecting, I was still easily able to adult and read. Then suddenly a little after the first chapter, all chaos broke loose, and the idea of adulting for the rest of the day?
GONE!
I was not setting this down until I hel

ARC from NetGalley

2.5 stars

A lot of reviews have complained that you need to sort of suss out for yourself after things get confusing that the book must be set in the future; however, “She tapped her keypad, bringing up her schedule. Only June 23, 2116, bounced around the blank screen.” is written on the first page of the second chapter. Unsure if that is an edit, but if it was then they missed editing a bunch of other stuff because the copy I got could use another rounds of edits. It's an ARC t

This story was fantastic 😊 It’s my first read by Rachel Hailey, and certainly won’t be my last!! This book had a lot of action, adventure and romance!! There were a few twists, that you don’t see coming, and it was very hard for me to put the book down!! It very easily holds your attention!! Rachel did a fantastic job building this unique world, that you can picture in your mind. This book had amazing likable char

This book was also incredibly fast-paced. The storyline was exciting and kept me on my toes. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I will say, my most prominent issue with this book is that it should have been separated into two books. I would have loved to see this book fleshed out, flourished up and made into a series.

The author flies through the plot and never really explains anything. You eventually figure it must be set in the future. There are basic links of her creatures to vampires

Thanks to Book Sirens and Rachel Hailey for the ARC in exchange for my unbiased review.

Let me start by saying the idea and storyline are great, but the execution of them are not. The author flies through the plot and never really explains anything. You eventually figure it must be set in the future. There are basic links of her creatures to vampires and shifters, but again she doesn't explain anything and the names of races are so similar I kept getting confused. She doesn't explain about them,

3.5/4⭐ I liked this book, however I didn't love it. This book was filled with action, likable characters and lust! Wow, there were definitely some hot scenese in here! The characters were definitely likable but I wanted more! We follow Callie, a lightkyn shunned by The Court if Light and Ashe, the once King of Nightmares on an adventure to prevent the destruction of the humanity. I wanted to know more about the before of these characters. What led them to here.

This book is spicy from beginning to end. Darkly delicious, the characters are fierce as only fae can be. We’re talking faerie wars, so if you don’t like violence, bow out of this one. Same goes for hot sex scenes and profanity. But that’s right up my alley. If you DO enjoy on-page sex paired with fight scenes that don’t quit, this is definitely worth the read.

I’ve given Sleeping with Shadows 4.5 stars. It would’ve been five stars, but I wish it was edited just a bit more carefully. My inner pe

Absolutely thrilled to have found exactly what I was looking for. First of all, I want Callie, Ashe, Daina and Mikhail on my side in any fight. I don’t care if it’s just a D&D battle; they’re there to fight and win and I am all for that.
This book delivered on everything I have been dying to read. A kickass team, revenge over redemption for certain characters, daring rescues and epic fights mixed in and balanced alongside a budding and envious relationship; it’s been exactly what I’ve been crav

This book deserves more than 5 stars! Hands down a fantastic read from a talented author!! Absolutely adore the characters as a hope she continues their stories!! Ashe is spectacular from the time you meet him and she leaves you wanting more. He may be the King of Nightmares but he is an absolute dream come true and a dedicated friend. Wow, I want to read more of this author's work. Rachel Hailey does a masterful job in building an intriguing new world. Callie is terrified when Ashe walks into her office, and makes it clear that she is going to help him complete his mission, no matter the cost to her. While this is definitely a romance between Callie and Ashe, all the characters in this book are well written, and convincing. The dialog is fast paced, engaging, and at times downright laugh out loud funny. This book has just abo ...more

This book felt like it was the second or third book in a series. I say that because there was so much past history that was barely explained it didn’t fell like a book one should feel. Throughout the entire book important things happened off scene. It was strange. The storyline was mildly interesting but the descriptions of places and people were extremely vague. The character lacked depth and behaved bizarrely. The sex scenes seem like they were added as an afterthought. The storyline lacked co ...more

Review:
Sleeping with Shadows by Rachel Hailey is a fast-paced paranormal romance that will take your breath away.
I think this book would have been a bit more successful, had it been split up and fleshed out more. It is so fast paced, that things fly by and you’re left to figure it all out.
This didn’t ruin my enjoyment of the novel. I think the world-building was great. I really enjoyed the relationship between Callie and Ashe. I think that growth drove the plot forward in a way.

I thank Netgalley for the free copy of this book. I am leaving my honest review.

I found this book to be moderately entertaining. It definitely could use editing. The plot tended to be choppy in places. The rapid love connection with the protagonist and one whom she initially branded a monster, defied credulity. Many of the relationships between characters did so.

One specific flaw really bothered me. The past tense of the verb "drag" is dragged, not "drug. " I am not the grammar police but tge u

An absolutely amazing read! From the first page until the last this book takes you on one wild ride. Callie was shunned by The Court of Light and now she’s being made to work with Ashe to find Daina. Their road is not an easy one. This book is amazingly written and the scenes are vividly described. It’s action packed, suspenseful, and filled with twists and turns, drama, steamy scenes and love. I absolutely adored Callie and Ashe, their banter, connection, and interactions. A definite must read ...more

This was a good read, it was very fast paced in the sense it kind of skimmed over the plot. I love the connection between Callie and Ashe immediately off the bat it was heated. This book has very vivid descriptions. I do wish there was more background on the different kyns it makes some things very confusing for me. So some backstory would have been super helpful. The book does have a lot of action and is set in the future so that threw me off at first but kept me interested to read a fae novel ...more

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and I loved it. I love the characters and feel that the story was well written and easy to follow. Daina is by far my favorite character even if she was only a secondary character. The story follows Callie as she realizes that she is more powerful than she ever believed she could be. With the help of her love interest, Ashe, she founds out who she really is and where she belongs. I would love to read other stories by this author in the same world ...more

The term action-packed is very fitting for this one.
I loved the fairy-tale / villain aspect of this one. It's a great trip back to our childhood, but with adult themes.
The author takes a different approach in keeping the pace steady and constantly moving the plot, but not giving us a ton of information all at once in the beginning. We get snippets along the way. It worked, it was just a bit different.
I loved both Callie and Ashe equally. They had a great connection that really came through th

A great start to hopefully a new series. I found that this was a little slow to start, however once we got into the story it just flew by and before I knew it, it had ended. I felt that there could have been more of an introduction into the world at the beginning, however it was explained further in the story. I enjoyed the interactions between the characters and hope that they all have their stories told. A great mix of fae, fairy tale and future!

First I want to say I agree with some of the other reviews about that lack of background info. In some places it felt like I missed something when it was describing the different kyn.

With that being said I loved this book! It had action, humor, romance with a little extra steam at times 😉. I felt like the story moved at a great pace and kept me engaged from start to finish. I would have liked to see a little more character development with some of the other characters not just Callie and Ashe.

A world to easily get lost in

The characters are grounded and so much fun to get to know. I so enjoyed watching their journey. The world created is so easy to get lost in. The angst and passion were brilliantly done. The detail truly set a scene. I was excited to see Callie grow. The darkness, anger, and really just all the emotions felt so real. It did seem to me to drag on a bit at moments but definitely worth a read!

I thought this book was average I enjoyed the fact that there was hot steamy moments and always lots of action going on but I just couldnt get into it like I normally would with a book. I felt the book was too rushed and I couldnt connect with any character.... maybe I need to read the next one in the series.

I didnt purchase this book I received a copy in good Faith that I would give my honest opinion once completed.
