Strength and Honor

It's not often that an author takes a character as thoroughly despicable as Nicholas was in his sister, Lilly's, story and redeems him so well. I was so glad to see that underneath the drinking and gambling, Nicholas was a good man. Ms. Vella hinted at the possibility of a redemption when Nicholas discovered that his beautiful sister had done her best to hide who she really was so he couldn't get her married off to cover his gambling debts. Nicholas was so upset with himself at that point, but still I wasn't sure there was any hope for him. This story fulfills that hope in a big way, with suspense and romance and a strong willed woman for him to love in the journey. I am satisfied.

I’ve enjoyed this series about these very unusual families, the Sinclairs and the Ravens. This is another entertaining read. The focus of this story is on Nicholas, Lord Braithwaite and Alice Sinclair. Nicholas is a reformed character in many ways but not all. Alice has been thought of as the sensible sister but she will often place herself Ina dangerous situation to help a friend. They are attracted to each other but the both fight against it. Nicholas doesn’t want to marry yet. There are a number of events and dangerous situations where their unusual gifts come into play. The banter between the siblings is true to life and amusing. This is a good paced engaging story. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Love it

This is Nicholas' story. He has turned his life around but still has his doubts about his old vices. Alice saves him from a hole in the street and men determined to rob him. Alice is going to places she has no business being to try and save her friend's brother. Nicholas is investigating miss babies.

It was well written. It's a page turner.

4/5 stars (4 enjoy Lorraine Heath, Maureen Driscoll, Elisa Braden)

This entire series (superpower are individual family senses) is one of my favourites hands down.

my personal markers for a great read...1. smart and engaging writing, 2. Humorous, 3. sexy interactions and 4. stories with family/friends.

I love series around family members or a group of friends. I love the series even more when the author intertwines those characters throughout the book series (it’s a pet peeve when authors don’t do that because what’s the point of the series and introducing the characters if they are not going to interact throughout the series). This entire series intertwines all characters from each book...I loved it.

There’s enough info provided that readers MAY be interested in the pervious and upcoming book(s).

I loved the writing around the women empowerment (it wasn’t over the top for me). Badass women rock.

The development and interest in main characters, H/H well paired, and Secondary characters are super enjoyable.

Movement of the book flowed for the most part. Book writing/conversation engaging with some action thrown in.

Laugh out loud humorous moments.

Romance content 4/5
sexual content 1.5/5 hotness and steam.

Would recommend this book and author.

You can read each book individually however you will not get the full picture of the series unless you read the series in its order.

Another wonderful book in the series. Wendy Vella is an exceptional writer. Nicholas as been trying to redeem himself for several years. He was a drunk, gambler and had neglected his sister for years until Dev, James, Max and Cam helped him.
Alice is Wolfs sister she is reckless and stubborn but needs to help a friend but inadvertently saves Nicholas’s life. When he meets Alice he realizes she is the woman from his dreams. Nicholas get tangled up in missing baby boys when his housekeepers grandson is taken from them.
A great read with an awesome ending.

Having read the previous books in this series I was wary of this given the male in question but I am so pleased I didn’t skip it as it is now be of my favourites.

I would highly recommend this series as to date all have surpassed the one previous.

*Non Spoiler Review*

Ahhhh, I am so happy to have started with this book as my first Regency Romance of the year. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the Sinclair and Raven series.

Just to note you can read these out of order, which I always approve of. Valla brings enough background into the stories, there are a lot of characters in the novel so I suggest taking a pause occasionally to reflect on who is who.

I like Alice Sinclair very quickly, she knew what she was about and didn't allow social pressures to dictate how she would go about her busy. I also appreciated that she was 23 and 18/19 like many other regency MC. I know that was the usual in the time period, I just feel like sometime a character needs to have a few more years behind her like Alice.

Nicholas was your classic reformed character, he wasn't perfect and it would show up now and again. I loved how Valla made him have some savvy preternatural gifts, it was a good nod. Because seriously sometimes as much as I love the MC female lead to have gifts sometimes the males get shafted.

The story was free flowing, which was impressed due to all the characters Valla included from previous novels. An indication the Valla is a seasoned pro. The interconnecting story which brought these two characters together was refreshing, and I like how she built the attraction. It didn't feel rushed.

Overall, nothing to fault on this fantastic Regency Romance. So happy it was this book that broke my slump!

Interesting Story and Characters, But...

Even though this is the sixth book of the series, I hadn't read any of the previous Raven and Sinclair novels or any book by Wendy Vella. One thing in this book’s favor is that I did not feel lost not having read the other books; I was able to understand it and the characters completely without reference to any of the other books. I found the complex story and the couple at the heart of it to be fascinating to follow. The hero and the heroine are quite opposite, she a somewhat strident and sassy innocent and he a reforming rogue. Some dialogue and inner monologue were humorous at times.

But I definitely had some issues with this book. First of all, I absolutely hate it when I see an egregious grammar error in the first paragraph of the book. Since I had received an ARC copy, I looked at the first 10% on Amazon to make sure that this and other errors I was seeing in that section were in the published novel, and unfortunately, they were. This author ranks highly in historical romance and has so many published books, so I find myself disappointed that she either doesn't get professional editing or has chosen a team that is not as well versed in proper English grammar, punctuation, and usage. Comma splices were all over the novel. The comma often required before a coordinating conjunction was either not used when it should have been or was used when it should NOT have been. Later in the book, even some spacing was wrong, as I found a contraction with a space after the apostrophe, which is just never done. I found these errors to be enough in number to be distracting. At times, I felt like I was just watching for the next mistake instead of enjoying the story. I am a copy editor, so this may be a hazard of the trade. I also thought that the dialogue was an odd combination of a somewhat stilted mimicking of Regency mixed with occasionally too modern phrases. So the dialogue quite often read awkwardly in my inner ear.

All in all, I liked the story and characters, but the other problems with the book detracted too much from my enjoyment of it. 2.5 rounded up to 3 because of the characterization.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Tempting Danger by Wendy Vella is book 6 in A Sinclair & Raven Series. This is the story of Alice Sinclair and Nicholas Braithwaite. Although these characters interact in previous stories which does had to the enjoyment of reading their story here, I did feel you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Nicholas has come far in redeeming himself although he still does not feel worthy in addition he has the site of seeing things which also adds to his upset. Alice was the level headed sister but has step forward to help someone which has lead her into dangerous situation. Alice and Nicholas keep saving each other from danger but will they end up saving each other.
I really enjoyed their story and hope to read more from this author soon!

Hold onto your seat! Wendy Vella has created another great story, full of everything needed to keep your attention until the end! A kidnapping, a reformed Lord, visions, and amazing characters that are very different but come together with great dialogue.
A reformed rake with a preternatural gift, Lord Nicholas Braithwaite cannot believe when he meets the angel of his dreams.
Alice Sinclair is that person that saves him unexpectedly as fate throws them together.
Wendy Vella always creates a story that pulls you in and does not let go with her amazing writing and creative mind, so hold on and prepare to be on a journey until you turn the last page.

Tempting Danger (Sinclair and Raven #6) by Wendy Vella – Nicholas has yet to believe that he has been redeemed from his reckless 20s, but Alice Sinclair is about to rescue him from himself. As Nicholas comes face to face with his visions of the future, there is a ring of baby thieves that need justice brought to them. You are going to love what is in that book in the study! Happy Reading!

Took a break in the middle of this one to reread a bunch of things I’d be able to put down more easily. When I got back to this I had to go back over a chapter to remember the plot and relationships. I don’t know how I’d feel if I’d just inhaled it straight the way I did the two that came before it. But coming back in and having to pay more attention to get back into the story I noticed some editing issues-mainly sentences that didn’t make grammatical sense. Not too many, but it made me wonder what I’d missed previously because I was reading super fast. However my main issue with this story in the negative column was the way the men in the family...particularly Wolf and Nicholas...treated Alice. It’s a historic novel, but all the characters within are not behaving at all the way people of that time period truly would behave. And as a part of that, the women are encouraged to learn and think and be independent and so on. But then Alice spent inordinate amounts of time in this book being harangued by the men for her independent behavior. Weirdly, I don’t know that it would have bothered me if the set up had been one of lack of tolerance for or acceptance of independent thought or behavior on the part of the women. But there was such hypocrisy, it really bugged me. I think it was perhaps meant to play as humor, but didn’t come across that way to me. It made me really dislike Wolf, who I’d liked in the previous two books.

I liked Tempting Danger, it stands out since there is not as much family interference as there was with the other books in the series. We meet Nicholas early on, he is connected to Cam’s past and plays a significant role in Lily’s story so I was looking forward to his. I ignored the fact that he was a Marquess and he had to mary accordingly because well we see that the family is an “oddity” in London society, but I will still would have liked for him to question this a bit more. He is investigating the disappearance of babies, he is trying to redeem himself from his mistakes which we learn in the previous books. I liked Alice although it was another Sinclair woman (they are all kind of the same in the end and so the reason why the family men fall for them tend to be the same as well) she has the “gift” of hearing just as Eden, but she does not use it as much. In this book the “heightened” senses kind of fell to the background. But I liked them enough to follow their story and I enjoyed the ending.

Age gap

These stories need to stop time leaping its weird, how are the twins 15? And Dev's and Lilly s son is 7 but was born when the twins were about 10, also how weird that these old ass dude's marry such young girls, Nick has to be over 40 and Alice is 23, The cover photo is very misleading Too, next to marry is Kate and I'm sure she is gonna end up with one of James and Max's brothers and he's gonna be at least as old as Max and he's older then Esi who was in her late 20's when the got together before anyone had kids, anyway i didn't really like this story disliked Alice, and Nick is definitely not one of my favorite characters in the series, the reason for her being out in the middle of the night is not a good reason, she didn't need to be so secretive it was a weak excuse, and her personality wasn't at all like the other ladies, she came off like a spoiled brat, and Nick came off as a pervy old dude Groping this girl any chance he got all while telling her that they could never be together.

This is intriguing, entertaining, romantic and dramatic. Nicholas meets Alice when she pushes him into a wall, saving his life. Then she tells him to leave quickly because men are after him. He insists on seeing her to her carriage, because on top of her being a lady, he's fascinated by her. The end up hiding together, and they kiss. He's disappointed when she leaves without telling him her name. And then is embarrassed when she shows up a family birthday party. The two of them are like magnets, yet both know nothing can come of it. He's shocked when he realizes that she was in his dream the night before, demanding that he find missing babies and bring them home. The whole family watches them, because the legend of the Raven and Sinclair families. I love slightly paranormal families, and this is one of the more interesting ones that I've read.

Book 6 in the Sinclair/Raven Series. The book is best read in series because there are so many characters in this extended family. This one focuses on Nicholas (who is the Duke of Raven's cousin and also Lilly's brother)and Alice (who is Wolf's sister). She's a Sinclair, he's got Raven blood with a little bit of magical Sinclair mixed in too.

She has acute hearing, he sees visions of the future. Together they attempt to solve a mystery of newborn babies being stolen from their mothers.

I enjoyed this book mostly because of the other characters from previous books. Nicholas and Alice were a good couple with some fun banter, but to me they weren't a standout among the rest of the family.

This book contains descriptive love scenes.

Continuing saga of the Raven and Sinclair families

The series continues with this magical close knit loving family. Lord Nicholas Braithwaite has become a member of this family when his sister Lilly married into it. Because of his past behavior he feels unworthy but the keep pulling him in. Alice Sinclair is on a dangerous mission for a friend when she first encounters Nicholas when saving his life. He has no idea who she is until he encounters her at a family function. Their relationship has many dangers and twists until they finally can be together. This family with their magical abilities has captured my interest and I intend to read this entire series. Maybe more than once.

Tempting read

I don't often read historical romances, but I might just have to after this.
A fast paced action story following Alice Sinclair and Nicholas. Nicholas is a man with a sordid past, but the Raven and Sinclair''s are dead set on him becoming a member of their combined family.
Alice is a wild child, who can't seem to follow simple instructions, but it is this feistiness that draws Nicholas to her. With his life embroiled in a dark mystery, and family pressuring him Fromm all sides, he must decide what he really wants.
A great slow burn romance, set in a time when innocence was supreme, and gentlemen were, sometimes, gentlemen.

Nicholas and Alice. She has heightened hearing and he has visions. He sees her telling him to save children that are being kidnapped at birth and sold to wealthy families needing an heir. She saves him initially from falling in a hole and then from some men that meant to rob him. He kisses her and insta-attraction. She is Wolf’s sister and keeps getting in trouble for being where she shouldn’t be. At the end he gets kidnapped but she follows knowing he’s in trouble and help to escape.

Loved the blend of Regency with paranormal "abilities" in this book, and a heroine who rescues the hero! Alice and Nicholas both don't want the other to be their "one" -- but their two families' destinies are intertwined. Family members have a wide range of strange abilities (visions of things to come; unusually strong hearing). And then there's the underlying mystery. . . who's making off with newborn children in the village?!

Tempting Danger

This was another great story. This one is about Nicholas and Alice. Alice is somewhat o of a lady who is always getting into trouble. She has her eyes on Nicholas and she does cause him a great deal of danger. They are on a hunt for babies being delivered and sold to rich nobles needing a male child. Enjoy their adventure and the whole family having to d save them.

Recommend this author

Since I have read several of her books and are in the second series I highly recommend this author. She has many characters that she has very well developed and then reason in to the next book. I love that because I am so disappointed when a book ends and then she has another 1 that I can start reading right away. Her writing is very entertaining sometimes make you be chuckle.

Nicholas is a good man now, but it was a struggle and he still didn’t believe it. Alice saves his life, twice in one night and refuses to give him her last name. It turn out that they are part of the same extended family. When Nicholas hears that babies are going missing he decides to find out what is happening. This is an excellent addition to the series.
