After her son goes missing, Joanna Watson enlists Isaac Bowen—a man she prays has enough experience in the rugged country—to help. As they press on against the elements, they find encouragement in the tentative trust that grows between them, but whether it can withstand the danger and coming confrontation is far from certain in this wild, unpredictable land.

Love’s Mountain Quest is the second book in the Hearts of Montana Series. It is 1867 in Settler’s Fort, Montana. Joanna Watson’s son Samuel and Laura, the woman caring for him, are missing, and the sheriff is dead. In order to find them, Joanna enlists the help of the reluctant Isaac Bowen, a man who would prefer to stay in the shadows. Joanna and Isaac pursue the kidnappers on horseback, dealing with dangers from wildlife and the rugged terrain as well as from the kidnappers they are chasing.

Overall, I think I was extra disappointed because I connected so easily with the characters in the first book. I really liked Joanna in that one and was looking forward to hearing her story.

When Joanna’s son disappears, she has to set out on a quest to find him. Along with her comes a single man and soon sparks fly. That’s where I quickly lost touch with the sense of reality. Most mothers I know would be 100% crazy focused on finding that kid again. I mean, in book 1 we

I read the first book in the series and really was impressed with it.
This book was very realistic, too much so for my taste.
A wolf attack on a horse is describes in detail and a wolf gets shot in the throat.
Yes, I know things like this did happen for survival in the wilderness but for an animal lover myself it was very hard to read.
I also don't understand how the woman could have romance on her mind when she was in the wilderness seeking her kidnapped son. As a mother romance would be the last

This second installment in Hearts of Montana series is a little different from the other Misty Beller's books I've read. The story picks up with Joanna, a recently widowed young woman struggling to raise her little boy alone, and Isaac, a mountainman who makes his living off the land, combining their efforts to track d

The romance was too heavy for my taste and was inserted in odd places, reminding me I was being told a story rather than keeping me completely immersed in it. Firstly, the leading lady was all hot and bothered over a man while she was supposed to be fretting about where her missing son was. Isn’t it just terrible when the feller she’s asked to come and help hunt down the jerks who stole her son was suddenly much more concerned about rescuing the boy than she was? This didn’t make any sense to me ...more

Boy, this one jumped right into the action! I felt like I quickly got to know Joanna and Isaac quickly through their actions and thoughts as they desperately search for her kidnapped son and friend. We experience the author's trademark perilous journey through the wilderness with various dangers and trying conditions. I was surprised that tracking the outlaws took up so much of the book, but it turned out that this was a long game situation since Isaac had a secret past that gave them an advanta ...more
Love’s Mountain Quest is the second book in the Hearts of Montana series, yet it can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone novel.

Isaac and Joanna, who appeared as side characters in book one, Hope’s Highest Mountain, have a hard journey ahead of them before they reach their happily-ever-after. The harrowing trek to rescue Joanna’s son, Samuel, and Joanna’s friend, Laura, helped to move Isaac and Joanna’s friendship into a deeper relationship where love began to grow.

"Love's Mountain Quest" is a romance set in 1867 in Montana territory. It's the second book in the series. The two main characters in this one apparently met in the previous book, but you can understand this book without reading the previous one. This book really is one very long chase scene. The bad guys kidnap a young woman and Joanna's son. Joanna and Isaac set out after them just hours after the kidnapping, but they can't catch up due to accidents and mishaps. After a few days, they seemed m ...more

LOVE'S MOUNTAIN QUEST is a story about a man's and woman's journey as they try to save her young son and friend from the hands of a ruthless gang. Both parties are fraught with danger as they travel, but find unexpected help and possible love as the story unfolds. Elements of faith are weaved throughout. Beller gives fans another trademark adventure through a harsh and untamed but beautiful wilderness, with characters readers can't help but cheer on.

Misty Beller is a new author for me. And while the book description intrigued me on a surface level, I was quickly immersed in this story on a much deeper level from practically the first page. With constant action and rich descrip-tion, the desperation of a mother to find her kidnapped child is all too apparent. My own mother’s heart was stirred as I was caught up in the raw emotions of this story. Although there is a romantic element to this book, it is only one layer to the drama, danger, and ...more

I adore Misty M Beller’s books and was excited to have the opportunity to read the second installment from her Hearts of Montana series, Love's Mountain Quest. I just loved this faith filled story. Isaac and Joanna are wonderful characters that learn some valuable life lessons that we all could learn from. I enjoyed taking a journey with them and seeing the beautiful setting. There is, also, some unpredictable action that I never knew what was going to happen next. It was great taking the great ...more

This is my first book by Misty M. Beller and it was amazing. Her story draws you in from the first line.

"The woman stood in the wind, skirts billowing, hair flying, as though the gusts swept away all her inhibitions."

Although I learned after reading it that Love’s Mountain Quest is the second book in a series, I had no problems reading it as a stand-alone novel. A minimal amount of background was provided within the story which was quite enough for me to understand the context. I read historical fiction because I love it and am not a stickler for details. I trust the authors have done their research so I just sit back and enjoy a good book.

Wow just when I think author Misty M Beller has written her best book, she comes up with one even better. Joanna Watson lost her husband in the Rocky Mountain wilderness this book is set in. The wilderness is a very hard life, especially for a widow and her small son. And when her son and babysitter went missing, Joanna will do anything in her power to get them back.

As I read this book, I thought of how people in today’s world would go crazy because of the time it take t

After meeting Joanna Watson and Isaac Bowen in Hope’s Highest Mountain, I so enjoyed experiencing their story in Love’s Mountain Quest.

When widowed Joanna returns home to find her son kidnapped, she must turn to Isaac for the help she needs to rescue him. Together, they journey through the mountains in desperate pursuit, and to overcome the perilous obstacles before them, they must rely on each other and their faith.

Book two in the Hearts of Montana series starts with a bang and continues that way until the end, so hold on tight. Adventure and intrigue will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next.

Author Misty Beller writes a story of good vs evil and often it looks like evil will win. But strong characters Joanna and Isaac persevere and battle their way to find Samuel. Beller does a good job of describing people and places so that you feel as if you’ve dropped into the book.

A true page turner. Whenever there is a child involved, the interest factor increases. Add an innocent woman trapped with a bunch of thieves and a furious, fretful mother. The plot explodes with the hazards of a chase through the mountains and a race against time.
Beller's books never fail to place the reader in the thick of the wilderness and the mountain hardships. Yet, the beauty and majesty, as well as the settlers of the past, are evident and a draw for the reader. She takes me on journeys I

The year is 1867 life at Settler’s Fort, Montana Territory is not easy for a young widow Joanna Watson and her five-year-old son, Samuel. When Joanna heard all the men would start looking in the morning, she was grateful Mr. Isaac Bowen volunteered to follow fresh tracks to catch the kidnappers.

From page one, this novel was action packed. The plot centers around the perilous "quest" the two main characters go on to rescue Joanna' son and friend. There's some good backstory connection between Isaac and the kidnappers that added a lot to the story and the hero's faith journey. I like the way that Misty doesn't shy away from writing more intense details, whether it be romantic or dangerous circumstances. She didn't sugarcoat the experiences of the two young people taken captive,

"She strained to hear the little-boy laughter that was a trademark of her son's exuberant personality."

And yet, there was silence; something had gone terribly wrong. Panicked, Joanna Watson runs back into the small town of Settler's Fort to find help. Providentially, assistance came in the form of the one man whom Joanna could trust with her life and the life of her most precious possession, her son. That man was Isaac Bowen.

Isaac Bowen's past was not a particularly honorable one, but

Book 2 in Misty Beller’s Hearts of Montana series, “Love’s Mountain Quest” can be read as a standalone, but for background into the lives of the main characters, I recommend reading “Hope’s Highest Mountain” first. Both contain the author’s trademark combination of adventure, faith, and romance, and this sequel is my favorite, not only of the two, but of the handful of Beller’s other books that I have read as well. “Love’s Mountain Quest” offers a bit of a twist on the theme of a mountain man re ...more

Misty M. Beller is a new to me author that I have really been enjoying! This is the second book in the series but I would say you could read it as a stand alone. The cover is stunning and there is non stop adventure from the first chapter. While I enjoyed book one a bit more I still was intrigued on what was going to happen to Samuel! The setting for her books are also some of my favorite so I enjoyed that in this story.

As I turn the pages I think of the great Western movies of the past. This Book and so many others by Misty M. Beller remind me of movies such as 'HOW THE WEST WAS WON" OR "DRUMS ALONG THE MOHAWK".
Ms. Beller writes a story so clear and precise that you feel that you are part of the story. I walked with her main character, Joanna, through the woods. I could feel her anguish and pain.

A wonderful story that I could not put down.

This is the second book in the “Heart of Montana” Series, and I loved it as much as I loved the first one, which had totally captivated me last year. My heart ached for Joanna since the first book, as she is recently widowed, left alone to care for her five year old son Samuel, who is a very enthusiastic and spirited little boy. Isaac Bowen has an important part in their rescue, finding Samuel when he’s lost during the journey, and then getting them safely to Settler’s Fort.

I was excited to explore Joanna's story in this book. I felt for her in the previous book, Hope's Highest Mountain. Her husband died leaving her a widow and single mother of a very enthusiastic little boy. The journey to Settler's Fort was difficult and Samuel was lost at one point. So to find out that Samuel was once again involved in a tragic event was a little heartbreaking for me. In this case, he and Joanna's friend, Laura, witnessed a murderer and were kidnapped.
