HOOD RIVER RAT: Is a full length high school enemies-to-lovers and new adult romance novel by K. Webster. Spoken in 'dual perspectives.

It pays to read the synopsis before you chase down a book!! 🙄This is a genre I don't normally jump on but saw the teasers shared and jumped before reading BUT seeing that this author popped my MM cherry recently it's only fitting that I realise that I'm getting thrown

The book wasn't bad, it wasn't, it just wasn't good either. Something lacks. The main characters feel too close in too little time, and Roan didn't feel like a bad guy, nor did his guys - though Jordy seems kinda psycho. Hell, Roan doesn't even seem like the dominant type so I don't understand how he's the ‘leader’ of the bad boys group. I didn't get the enemies to friends theme as the switch wasn't friends per se, more like hate-lust-to-lovers.

I, in a way, felt li

Welcome to another episode of ‘Where the quarantine has taken my reading taste’. Today, I present you bully romance!

I guess being shoved to the wall isn’t so bad at all if your love interest does it.
Holy shit. This was phenomenal for me.

This book is dark, gritty and unapologetically painful to read at times but still I loved it. Oh my, I was engrossed all from beginning to end. This book surprised me because I thought its going to focus soley on the bully romance but nope. The whole

Hollis has infiltrated my life in every aspect. School. Job. My sister’s friends. Basketball. Anger swells up inside of me. I know it’s probably unfair to blame him, but I do. Fuck him for being perfect at everything.

Hood River Rat was an anticipated release of mine ever since I read part of it in the Bully Me: Class of 2020 Anthology and I was hoping with everything in me that this book wouldn’t disappoint considering how attached I had gotten to Hollis and Roan! I am so

Ahhh, I haven't been K. Webster's biggest fan until now but this was so good!
the gays can do no wrong in my eyes, so why are we even surprised I loved this lol

Hood River Rat is all you'd want in your M/M romance - there's some tension in the beginning, undeniable chemistry, soft and damaged boys, some drama and lots of tingly feels!

The Characters
Hollis was the sweetest character! His parents got divorced because his father couldn't accept him after he came out, so he, his mother

Yoooooo! I think this is the biggest surprise of 2020 for me. High school bullying isn't really my thing but this one was done well. Behind every bully is a hurt kid just lashing out at someone they think is weaker.

This story featured a high school basketball star Hollis who was one of the Hood River Hoodlums, a clique that kind of terrorized other kids to avoid dealing with their own painful home situations.
Hollis is a new kid whose parents are going through a divorce and he is looking for a

This book was a freak show and a waste of my time

Okay, so I was so damn excited for this one when it came out a few months ago and now that I have read read it? I do not understand the hype.

The plot, characters, storyline..everything fell flat for me. It was an easy read to pass the time and complete in one sitting but other than that? blech.

The characters were both very nice but very boring. Same goes for the book, as 'nice' it was, it bored me to death. It is funny sometimes though and will

I try to pull my hand away, unsure if I’m able to handle whatever this storm brewing between us is. I don’t know if it’ll end with fists and broken bones or kisses and broken hearts. It’s too intense and cataclysmic to not end in destruction, though. If it’s not hate, it’s something close. Hate destroys and decimates. Whatever this is, it’ll ruin too.

I was so excited for this book. When it came out a couple months ago everyone was going crazy about how good it was. But honestly now that I’ve

I really expected to love this. I... didn't. The attraction between Hollis and Roan played out weirdly and I didn't believe it until about past 1/2 way. The plotting made me roll my eyes over and over. Every single incident in this book is extreme and plays out in ways that are mostly unrealistic and set up for easy, lazy plotting regardless of whether they make sense or not. Simple things like the Aunt not mentioning that she tutors a kid and her brother (surprise! Here is your bully crush on y ...more

K Webster is just about the only author out there that can make me read a high school age book LOL And by make me, I mean I just cannot help myself. She is that good. Ya’ll, it takes an act of Congress to get me to read a New Adult book and they’re normally at least in college or fresh out. High school … no, never. Except when I d

I... can’t believe I gave up at 91% lmao. That’s a first.

I was already done with it at around 60% more or less but I forced myself to continue. At around, I don’t know, 80%? The whole thing just goes off the rails. Just total derailment. The train has derailed so fucking bad it’s on its way to outer space.

It’s a mess. A MESS. I am amazed and shocked this has so many 4 and 5 stars review. You have to REALLY let your sense of disbelieve fly away when you read this book. Just, believe anything and

What a book!

Hollis feels like he ruined everything. After coming out as gay, his mom and dad broke up and his mom moved him and his sister across the county to live with her sister.

Hollis is now the new kid at school during his senior year. And to make things worse the Hood River Hoodlums have decided they are going to make his life hard. Why? They have chosen to not like him because he is new. But there is a problem. Roan, one of the Hoodlums, is a hottie and Hollis can't get him off his mind

“You’re too perfect, porcelain boy. Makes me want to break you.”

Since reading the first chapters in Bully Me: Class of 2020, I've been anxiously waiting for this book. And in true K. Webster fashion, it did not disappoint.

When his parents break up, Hollis English privileged life is overturned, having to move to a new town and, subsequently, a new school. Having always been the popular guy, he does not expect problems fitting in. But arriving at school his first encounter is with the

HRR is not your typical high school bully romance, it is SOOO much more! Not only are the two main characters captivating and endearing, but they both have crazy things going on in their home lives that were totally unpredictable and had me glued to my book. Not to mention the passion between the two which was the charts HOT!!! Webster truly writes the best mm!!!

It is no secret that I am a huge fan of this author!! I adore her books, the darker, the lighter, all of them. This book was such a huge surprise. It has been a while since I have read a good M/M book. K. Webster did not disappoint. I fell in love with her characters. Roan and Hollis stole my heart and they can keep it.

"We’re Hoodlums. We don’t let life fuck us. We get on our feet and fuck life.”

This story just gutted me. It was brutal and filled with passion. K brings the darkness into light. When you decide to read a K. Webster story you are in for one hell of a ride. I find that when I start her books it's best if I don't read any reviews, not even her blurbs. I like to go in as blind as possible. K was a way of selling you on theme, a set of characters and circumstances that transcend your own reality. It'

I went into this lightly, shame on me for being so gullible, I should know better by now, Ms Webster took my little heart and brought it through the wringer, she created such a beautiful story I had no chance to survive.
Hollis and Roan will make you bleed and feel so much, this is a story of growth and acceptance, to learn that no matter what other people try to tell you, even the ones who gave life to you and should by right be those who nurture matter what, you are

I did like this book. Roan and Hollis are both really likeable and generally this was pretty low angst. I prefer high angst. I didn’t feel very strongly about it at all, but to my surprise I cried towards the end. The scene with Jordy destroyed me. My reaction was likely heightened due to the current climate and ongoing protests regarding police brutality following the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and so many more. I just felt so much pain for anyone in a position like that where they ...more

K. Webster is one of my favorite authors and I absolutely loved this one! It was really cute. My only gripe is the “epilogue”. I’ve said it before a million times and I’ll say it again, an epilogue without the main couple isn’t an epilogue, it’s a sneak peek at the next book....just call it what it is. It’s frustrating when you think you’re going to be getting a cute little look at the future of the couple, but they’re actually not even in it and we’re just given an in into the next book.
