This introductory text is based on a successful, four-skills approach to German that stresses communicative competence, cultural awareness, and mastery of language structures. Each lesson Dialoge, which introduces new grammar and vocabulary in context; two Worschatz sections, (1) contains words and phrases from Dialoge and other related items for use in exercises, and (2) contains vocabulary needed to understand Lesestück (reading); and Variationen, activities that encourage students to use material from the Dialoge to express their own thoughts, ideas, and experiences.
One of two textbooks I use for my German study, which is lifelong and ongoing. The other being Deustch Aktuell. Besides these two books I also use a number of supplementary texts including dictionaries, verb books, grammar books, game and puzzle books, flash cards, audio programs, Duo Lingo and the book series Dino Lernt Deutch (which I cannot recommend enough if you are learning German).
Nice book for beginners and people on an intermediate level. I haven't practiced German for years, so this was a nice way of getting in touch with grammar etc again.
