So maybe I've never gotten on a flight and landed thirty years later, like this girl, but I have lost a year of my early twenties to a pandemic-related lockdown so it feels about the same.

Just kidding. Also get vaccinated.

This was just...whatever. It felt about one to two hundred pages too long. The romance icked me out so bad my shoulders were around my ears in a defensive cringe positioning for at least half of the aforementioned too-many pages. The characters were in a firm second place to th
Namera [The Literary Invertebrate]

The way this fascinating premise has been DESTROYED and turned into an angsty, plot-less romantic soap opera is practically criminal.

So, the heroine - 17-year-old Jenny Waters - goes missing in 1995, while flying on a plane between New York and St Louis. (Apparently that's in Missouri, which is one of those states that feels like it's been made up. The fact that the author gives zero place description doesn't help). When she touches down, she discovers that her three-hour flight been 25 ye

Jenny Waters has just gone forward in time -- 25 years! She got on a plane in NYC in 1995 and landed in St. Louis in 2020. Talk about jet lag! This book has some sci-fi, some social media angst, a little romance, and a lot of heart. It was such a fun read. Cultural references abound for the 90's and up to the present. There are some apt comparisons to "Back In Time," one of my favorite movies, as well as plugs for the Hunger Games series. At one point in the midst of her learning curve with soci ...more

High school junior Jenny Waters is visiting her grandparents in New York City in 1995. She hopes to convince her parents to let her go to journalism school there to get out of her Missouri suburb. When the plane is due to land, however, there are problems. The control tower has no information about the flight. When they are finally allowed to land, everyone on board discovers that it is now 2020, and their plane disappeared without a trace 25 years previously. Jen

YOUR LIFE HAS BEEN DELAYED did not disappoint! It has a clever premise and a well-crafted plot. I LOVED it. I loved all the little surprises that Jenny had to face, and I loved hearing the stories of the people in the support group (a few others from the plane). So intriguing! I could totally put myself in their shoes and feel what it might be like to remember everything and everyone from just a week ago (or three hours, really) while they had all advanced by 25 years.

Thanks to NetGalley for the

This sounds exactly like the premise of the show Manifest -- which I loved for like 2 seasons and then it didn't appeal to me anymore because it got too convoluted. Regardless, I like the premise so excited for this one. ...more

Many thanks to Bloomsbury YA for my review copy of this book via Netgalley! This was such a compulsive read, I couldn't put it down and I just had to keep reading for most of the book.

I was scoping netgalley for books and came across the blurb and oh my! I knew I had to read it and gratefully, I don't regret my decision.

I am a conspiracy theorist at heart, so a book about a plane that disappears only to land 25 years in the future is right up my alley. This started out

Just in time for Manifest's 828 Day Resurrection, we have a lovely YA offering in the same vein. And it did not disappoint! Your Life Has Been Delayed follows mid-90s kid Jenny, who is on her way home from visiting her grandparents in New York. Only, whoopsie, her plane takes a little detour and winds up in 2020. You can imagine how jarring that would be, on many levels!

Your Life Has Been Delayed is a cute YA Contemporary novel with a time travel twist. That premise is super intriguing!

The story pacing is a bit slow, but I found it picked up after a few certain plot points got ironed out and weren't consistently repeated, glazed over, or withheld because of protecting Jenny.
There is just a hint of romance which was a nice touch, but not really necessary.
With the amount of characters in the book, I found them all fairly well fleshed out (all the important detai

3.5 I liked that this was a more contemporary approach to Manifest but Jenny did not seem like a 17 year old and more like a 13 year old which was a little frustrating. It was interesting to think about how much technology and everything has changed since 1995 and I liked that aspect a lot.

This is a young adult novel and isn't written for an adult audience. The story focuses on Jenny, a seventeen year old, who boards a plane in New York after visiting her grandparents and lands in St. Louis twenty-five years later. Jenny was a happy and successful 1995 high school junior, but has to start her senior year in 2020. She was smart and fashionable, now she doesn't know what to wear, how to use any of the technology, or even what lol means. Jenny's personal story fills most of the book, ...more

This book has a super intriguing premise, and one that I suspect will open up interesting post-read dialogues about "what would you do if"? Our heroine accidentally travels 25 years into the future, where she encounters aging family members, new technology, the perils of social media, some questionable press interest, and the need to reestablish a reliable friend circle. While time travel stories often serve as journeys that allow the heroes to take lessons back to their own time, Mason keeps Je ...more

Look, to be totally honest, I still wouldn't have wanted to be on this flight, but this book was an easy five stars for me. The character development, the plot line and development, the romance, the familial relationships, the growth- there is just so much good within in this book to even describe it all in detail one by one, so I'll do my best to summarize my favorite points. Jenny was such a complex, yet simplistic character and I think that's why I loved her so much. Her need and desire to kn ...more

Thanks to the publisher for providing an eARC of Your Life Has Been Delayed in exchange for an honest review.

Your Life Has Been Delayed starts off with an interesting, unique premise so I was expecting it to be an interesting unique read and it just... wasn't. It's competently written and the plot is fine, but it quickly goes from "mysterious plane crash! What's going on?" to "here's a ton of high school drama" which was not the take I was really expecting. It could have been a "teen flees scand
An interesting story with a good plot, but overall I found it a little... Juvenile. Jenny didn't seem like she was a senior in high school, she behaved more like a middle-schooler. And I don't know why but I don't like the cover. Maybe I just don't like cartoonish book covers in general? Also, Jenny is described twice in the book as having strawberry blonde hair, and the girl on the cover is just blonde. (Pet peeve: when the cover image doesn't match the story!)

That being said, I loved how the d

First of all thanks to the publisher and netgalley for sending me an ARC of the book.

I wanted to love this book so much. It did not work.
The story follows Jenny a teenager from the 90s that takes a plane to go home and when the plane arrives it turns out that 25 years have passed.
This would be a great plot for a book, to try to see if there is a way to solve all of this stuff and investigate how they can go home or at least understand how they show up there 25 years later.
Instead we just got t

Thank you so much for sending an ARC of this book my way!

I loved the gentle sci-fi nature of this story--not too much focus on the central sci-fi element, but definitely that little bit of speculative element there that kept me turning the pages. To me, it was the perfect amount, allowing readers to really focus on the characters.

I liked Jenny, the protagonist, a lot. Maybe because the first thing we learn about her is that she's a prospective Columbia student who loves to write. It took me righ

**I received this as an egalley from the publisher through Edelweiss in return for an honest review.**

I honestly was not planning on reading this egalley so soon - or so quickly - but the premise of it apparently intrigued me so much that when I opened it to “glance through” the first few pages (as I like to do with new egalleys), I ended up not being able to put it down. So, despite having 5 other books already started, I caved and just read it.

This book is definitely something unique. I know

Even though this story has a time travel element, it is not a sci-fi focused story. Your Life Has Been Delayed is a story that revolves around relationships. Through the character Jenny, the reader is presented with the question, what would happen to your family and friends if you were not around?
Your Life Has Been Delayed, is a quick and enjoyable read if you take it at face value. The story explores the question, how would life turn out without you in it. It also explores how much society and

Jenny boarded a plane in New York after a visit with her grandparents only to land in St. Louis 25 years later and she's only been gone for three hours in the air. Her little brother is now her parents age and he has kids of his own. Her grandparents she just left have all died. Her best friend has written a book revealing Jenny's secrets and she went and married Jenny's boyfriend and had twins. I don't read a lot of YA, but when I heard about the intriguing premise of Your Life Has Been Delayed, I knew I had to check it out. After a weekend of lost sleep while I tore through the (virtual) pages, I was not disappointed! Did not want to stop reading - got through 26 chapters in the first night! Reminds me of the show Manifest, but like a normal version of it. So no weird magical powers or government conspiracies, just focused on the struggle of a teen transported from 1995 to current times via a plane time jump (and honestly, the normal struggles are more entertaining). If you are a reluctant reader (or have one), I highly recommend you check this book out. First book in a long time that I didn't want to stop re ...more
