wow. i must have been on one when i first read this because i was waxing all kinds of poetic. but i still feel the same after a reread, so i will allow it. lol.

every once in a while, there are books where it feels as if your hands are simply not strong enough to hold the immense weight of it on their own. and so your heart steps in and with every beat, every pulse, you begin to feel that pressure. because its the kind of weight that stays with you for a long time, a

Smiling from ear to ear, feeling the warmness in my heart, I could truly say: this is fascinating! The author’s way of telling how great novels can be life anchors to save us from great tragedies of life and how fill our hearts with true happiness. And the magically beautiful romance in this book, the innocence, genuineness of pure hearts of the characters widened my big smile. I’m absolutely happy to say this book is secret gem and I’m giving my five gazillion magical orman(forest)stars without ...more

Chapter Three..... you broke my heart.....

This effing book chewed me up and spit me out. The book was perfect for me; but wasn’t. I fell in love, I cried, I empathized. Another debut novel that blew me away in its own special way.

I love, love, love these characters. Amelia, Jenna, Nolan, Alex, Val, Wally, Jenna’s parents and all of the minor characters.

Amelia is devastated when her best friend Jenna is killed. They had their whole lives planned out. But things change, they always chan

"What will we do?" Emmeline asked, watching as the storm clouds gathered into menacing darkness.

"We'll do the only thing we can," Ainsley answered. "Endure."

WAHHHH. This book was the most beautifully tragic thing I have ever read. It was heartbreaking, yet hopeful; relatable, yet maintained a fairytale quality about it. The exposition on regret, grief, and regaining control of your life when you feel it is spiraling into the abyss was so well done; it was powerful, yet didn't feel overdone or fo

Amelia Unabridged is a remarkable story and one that has the potential to hit on a deep level. If you consider yourself a booklover, have experienced loss, and/or are a fan of YA fiction, don't hesitate to pick this book up.

Amelia's father ran off with another woman and her mother barely pays attention to her. A chance encounter at a local bookstore marks the start of Amelia's friendship with Jenna. Soon they are inseparable and Amelia essentially becomes a second daughter to Jenna's p

Part budding YA Romance and part touching coming-of-age story, this was a solid debut for author Ashley Schumacher. Amelia Unabridged wears its heart on its sleeve, and though I breezed through it I can see why so many people have fallen head over heels for Amelia and co.

For me the first quarter or so is the strongest portion of the novel. That initial gut-punch was extremely well done, which is why I don’t understand why the publisher decided to include it as a spoiler in the synopsis, of all p

Everything is a story, not just writing. You need to find the story that means something to you, a story you like telling.

Me alone in my bedroom crying my eyes out in the middle of the night on Valentine's day. That's what this book did to me. And damn it, did I love it.

Amelia Unabridged is a heartwarming and emotional story of the power of books, friendship and love.

It follows Amelia, who is obsessed with a book series called the 'Orman Chronicles'. After a tragic event (which the synopsis spoils, but I would suggest going in blind), Amelia goes on an adventure to an obscure bookshop in Michigan. There, she meets the author of the series, and in the process finds herself along the way.

On paper, this sounds like a perfect book. A quiet contemporary about book

I've been wanting to use the words "richly imagined" in one of my reviews, and now I finally have my chance to do it for Ashley Schumacher's Amelia Unabridged. Flying whales, a personal storm cloud that rains on Amelia invisibly during her darkest moments, spirit -infested winds that (usually) push her in the right direction, and the enchanted forest of Ormon - Amelia's world is no ordinary place. Amelia's best friend, Jenna Williams, is the star in her universe - the undeniable force of Nature

What do I even say?

Okay, first off, let me just say this. If you have ever seen the kind of books I read (Which I assume you have not, because let's be honest, who even has the time?) then you know that I basically only read Fantasy and Sci-Fi, with the occasional Murder/Mystery. This is practically the first book I have read that qualifies as “Contemporary” and I think I need to start reading more books in th

TW for grief and loss of a loved one.

“Amelia Unabridged” is a raw, beautifully tragic story.

I really don’t want to say too much for fear of giving the story away. I actually think the synopsis gives too much away, so I don’t recommend reading that.

For someone who writes for a living, I am almost at a loss for words for how much I love this book? This review is overdue — I had the privilege of reading it two months ago — but it is seared into my heart so permanently that I think about it every day, so to me it feels like no time has passed at all. I don't want to spoil anybody, so I will be vague (SORRY), but this just read like a warm, satisfying hug from start to finish. This was a book about friendships, love and loss. It was really good and I loved it.
Ive often imagined meeting my favorite author and thinking I’d literally die of shock if it actually happened! Can you imagine? Well it happens in this story and so much more. This is definitely for book nerds. I loved the romance and chemistry between these two.
It’s sort of hard to explain this story but it full of interesting people and I highly recommend it. You won’t be sorry.

The day Amelia meets Jenna at a bookstore, her life changes for the better as the two girls grow as close as sisters. Amelia's home-life is chaotic so she welcomes frequent invitations to stay at Jenna's house. Jenna recommends a book, the Orman Chronicles to Amelia - the story of two sisters competing in a magical world. Amelia reads it and becomes obsessed with both the story and the author - recluse prodigy N.E. Endsley. Upon graduation, Jenna's parents gift both young ladies tickets to a boo ...more
A beautiful story of friendship, losing a friend, and starting over. I liked this very much.

Amelia and Jenna bonded over the Orman Chronicles series as girls, and they consider themselves superfans. As a high school graduation gift, Jenna's parents send the girls off to a book signing by the author, N. E. Endsley. The event is a bust when the notoriously introverted writer suddenly leaves the bookstore - but not before Jenna spoke to him while Amelia was using the bathroom (wouldn't you know it?

This novel was lovely, lyrical and tinged with melancholy and whimsy. It feels like one of those books that is meant to be found at the right time for the reader, and I certainly felt like it was the right moment for me to pick it up when I did. It’s definitely a YA book, but I appreciate it so much more as an adult read and I think a lot of that has to do with how much of the story and my resonance with what the character goes through. Lovely debut, and I look forward to reading more from this ...more

This was also the day that Amelia discovered her love for the Orman Chronicles. Amelia and Jenna soon go to meet N.E. Endsley, the author of the Orman Chronicles, at a rare event.

What a beautifully written, heartfelt book! It is both the story of a girl trying to find herself after a terrible tragedy, and also a story of friendship and love.
Those who love books as much as I do will adore this tale of a girl with a deep passion for a particular book series, one that she shares with her best friend Jenna. The two have an opportunity to meet the reclusive author, but Jenna gets to meet him briefly when Amelia doesn't, and then tragedy strikes. A rare copy of one of the

Jenna found Amelia when her home life was crumbling. She gave her friendship and welcomed her into her family. She mapped out a future for her and Amelia. When Jenna died, Amelia lost her bedrock, her foundation, and nothing could fill the Jenna-sized hole in her life. After receiving a mysterious package, Amelia set out on a quest to uncover its origins, which might end up changing her post-grad plans.

This book was such a pleasure to read. Everyone knows I love a good story of grief and loss,

I don't like saying I'm too old for certain stories because I think we're always able to find meaning in books regardless of the target audience, but I personally did not find much meaning in Amelia Unabridged. The writing was very very easy to read and I am sure quite a lot of people will fall in love with it, but something about the narrative and the characters did not capture my attention and did not make me feel as touched as I'm sure Schumacher expected the
