Winchell Cuts the Cheese

Rate this book
When an unpleasant odor wafts through the barnyard, Sheep asks, “Who cut the cheese?” Winchell the pig avoids the question again and again throughout the day. But at bedtime, the porcine stinker realizes good little piggies should excuse themselves after letting one slip. Vibrant art and clever wordplay introduce an adorable pig (and his long-suffering friends) as he comes to grips with that most natural—and embarrassing—of acts.Fun(ny) way to learn the etiquette of flatulence—without using the f-word.More Winchell books on the way!

Couldn't help liking this not so subtle tale of the pig who constantly "cuts the cheese." The story serves us many different expressions for "cutting the cheese" - of course a few of those might be objectionable to some parents. Other somewhat archaic expressions (but funny here especially when paired up with the gassy sayings) are "jeez," "Jimminy Jasper," and "Whoa, Nellie." Not so much cute but funny espcially for boys and reluctant readers. Simple but colorful pictures - using green clouds to show "the cheese being cut."

Easily the best book about farting animals I have ever read. I'm not sure if that's high praise. But it is praise, I guess.

It managed to be both funny and cute and offer a redeeming (if obvious) message.

Also, it has a pig, so +1 for that.
