I'm stuck in a straight guy's apartment. How am I supposed to deal with this?

I hadn't planned on living with Ross very long. I just needed a place to stay to get on my feet after a bad break up, and happened to be friends with his sister. But when the shelter in place order comes down, not only do I lose any chance of finding my own space; my bartending job dries up, too.

okay, this is a seriously hot novel - but ohmygod, the audio is spectacular! Narrator Zachary Zabba adds so much to the story, his voices! Alternating between Cal and Ross, he builds up such intense sexual tension and lets it all go *gah* just spectacular. Folks, we have a new star in erotic voice acting, and I can't wait to delv into Zachary Zabba's backlist ASAP! ...more

The first 80% of this book was easily 4 stars. Then it just went to sh—! I mean all this boring inner monologue and then one of the worst endings. I’m so disappointed.

When I started this book I never in a million years thought this would be this awesome!

The story takes place in this hell we call life now - I mean with the COVID-19. And this was my first surprise because I was curious which author/story will be the first about this.

Ross and Cal were so cool, loved both of them. This kind of slow-burn is the best. Cal wanted everything from his straight roommate, while Ross didn't know he wanted and needed the same. They were perfect together.
The whole stuff

I'm amazed how good it is considering that it must have been written in a couple weeks. It's set during the global pandemic and released a few weeks after the pandemic started. It's a fun mostly erotic story. It's two guys stuck together in a small apartment during quarantine. First comes sex and then feelings ensue. Both MCs have distinctive and natural voices. More porn than plot but still a kind of sweet character development. It exceeded expectations. ...more

Closed bars, companies firing employees because they no longer need their services, people locked in their homes for an indefinite period of time to protect their health and life. For Cal and Ross, who live together in a small flat and don't know each other very well, the vision of staying together 24 hours a day for god knows how long seems very uncomfortable. The more so because every man has certain needs that he must sooner or later give vent to.

At the time of my reading I was on my third week of isolation due to the coronavirus and thus I was instantly intrigued by the blurb for Shelter in Place by Simon Strange.

The story starts with a peek into the future which certainly whets the appetite like a burst of flavour! Cal is crashing on Ross’s couch while he figures out his next steps. The men don’t know each other well and find themselves in close quarters when the “shelter in place” order comes through.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. How well can a city boy and country boy get along due to a worldwide lockdown. Cal had been trying to get back on his feet when a lockdown went in to effect, leaving him stuck at home with his new straight  roommate. Lossing his job didnt help much with what was soon to be a stressful issues. How do you accidentally start cam on a porn-site while looking for work at home jobs?and what will happen when Ross finds out? How ...more

I enjoyed the first sixty percent or so of the book which details how gay Cal and straight Ross hook up while sheltering in place during the pandemic, while earning money on a gay voyeur website. It was rushed, and wholly unbelievable but still fun thanks to well written dialogue and likable characters. But then the story took a darker turn and went into hardcore territory that I was wholly unprepared for.

Once I started skimming the sex scenes because they just weren't to my ta

Shelter in Place is a fun book. This Simon Strange romance takes place during a pandemic, which had me seriously hesitant going into it. But, omg, I love it. Absolutely love it.

Do not think of this as being a book about the Covid 19 pandemic. It is not. This is a book about a relationship that develops during the shelter in place part of the pandemic. It is not scary. It will not make you think about the current situation much. Rather, this is an exciting example of what could happen while bein

DNF at 40%. It had a promising beginning, but it deteriorated pretty fast into a pandemic (pun intended) of gay porn cliches. It may still work for some. As for myself, I could never get behind the fantasy of "converting" a straight guy, and I don't understand what's hot about guys waxing poetically about the right way to jerk off. Yes, there were some hot scenes, but by 40% things were rapidly cooling, it was just too much of an effort to go on. Every sexual interaction between the MCs was so d ...more
This is the quarantine book we did not know we needed!

I was skeptical at first, it was only a matter of time until authors capitalized on the themes triggered by the global pandemic. I was hooked by the premise -- straight guy as forbidden fruit? Sign me up.

Stuck in a tiny apartment and making ends meet with some cam vids, it's bound to lead to sexy times!
So, SO good. Little bit of dom/sub, nothing too crazy. Just enough kink to heat things up, and realistic when you're stuck inside and didn't

3.5 stars ⭐️ I picked up this read bc I heard reviewers were claiming the author was taking advantage of the current CoVid19 crisis. I had zero intentions of reading any books about this time but I really enjoyed Simon Strange’s other books and wanted to support him. Also I know tons of readers in the online MM Facebook communities are asking authors for books taking place in this time.
It was a fun story that didn’t go into depth about the crisis - it was original and I enjoyed it very much. As

Simon Strange delivers a very hot and steamy romance for those of us still living in isolation in the first of the “Shelter” trilogy Shelter in Place. Whew! Wipe the sweat off my brow for the rest of my review.

Isolation can make one take the time to think of things in a different light and boredom can make you try new things and Strange puts this to the test in the character of Ross.

If you are not one for the details, there is still the romance and the conversation of what is sexuality. I actu
Shelter in Place is the first book in the Shelter series and completely blew me away with how wonderful it was. This book has a brilliantly complicated and intense relationship between two men who are sheltering from a virus due to a mandatory government lockdown. However, the pandemic does not play a big role in the book besides giving the men a reason to spend so much time together. This book had so many great elements to it ranging from the intensely kinky sex to the fascinating self-explorat ...more

Ok...there are spoilers and triggers and kinks ahead.

There is lots of bdsm elements to be enjoyed here, humiliation, piss play, CBT & others.

There are several points where the lines get a little blurry for me. As a reader, Im looking to enjoy the story, not be repulsed. Granted, its a fune line here... Not sure how you go from baring your soul about a scene gone horribly very wrong to piss play...

Talk about your slice of life reality story.
Ripped from the current headlines, this was a really sexy and at it's core very sweet bisexual awakening romance.
Cal was staying with Ross temporarily while trying to get himself situated after a bad breakup.
Suddenly it seems as though were living through the end of times.
I loved how these men took the opportunity presented by this horrible situation to realize their true feelings for one another.
Ross especially had a complete revelation concerning his

A hot read from a new to me author, totally relevant to current situation. Cal, then Ross, are inventive in how they make some cash to get them through lockdown, when neither can go to work.

Being confined together gives them time to experiment, encouraged by viewers in a secret chat room Cal set up to earn an income while unable to go to work. When Ross discovers what Cal is up to he joins in anonymously, encouraging Cal to act on his desires.

Hilarious at times, I loved these characters, the sto

This is a hot, kinky, forced-proximity romance. Set in the shitshow that is 2020, when the stay-at-home order goes into effect, gay MC Cal is locked in with straight MC Ross.

When our MCs lose their jobs, they turn to gay cam modeling as a way to earn money for the duration of the lockdown. The plot requires some suspension of disbelief, but the writing is ridiculous enough (in a good way) that I found it pretty easy to just go with the flow. The sex scenes are pretty damn hot, and after a while

10 stars?

For a book that was possibly written in a matter of months and didn’t make me lose interest at all, I couldn’t have read anything better. I just finished reading it for the second time and no matter what, Cal and Ross and me hooked. I love their progression and figuring out where their friendship/ relationship was going. During a time like this, I’m glad I was able to find a book to actually laugh out loud to and read a spin on the world today. Can’t wait to finally read about Matty and

Holy Hotness

This was a super hot book! Self discovery during a lockdown that led to some seriously sexy times.

This book was very meta. Since we as the audience are in our very own lockdown.

Cal and Ross are not close at the start but by the end I’m not sure they could be any closer. It was intense at times and super sweet at other times. It was an emotional rollercoaster 🎢 but it was worth it.
I really enjoyed it. I’m glad there is a part 2. I’m not ready to say good bye to these characters ju

well, well, well... weren't you a little kinky surprise!

If you enjoy forced proximity, voyeurism, and exhibitionism, a former straight guy being curious, and two young men exploring kink and boundaries together, you'll enjoy this.

Easily read, quite a few editing errors, but engaging enough storyline, that I didn't get pulled out of the story due to the errors. Very enjoyable and recommendable. I signed up for the author's newsletter straight away upon completion, so I could get the freebie sho

This was sooo needed!!

I think there was a big need for characters that are going through what so many of the readers are. While I only had to do ten days inside because I’ve been working the whole time, many have been stuck inside for months. High risk people have been sheltered since March. I’m pretty sure many have plowed through their tbr’s and are feeling the pressure. This story hopefully makes it a little easier.
