He has no name and no home, but the gods still call upon him.

Nameless is a fighter from a small, desolate town. The only one to pay him any attention growing up was his friend, Aneilu Deggiry. But Aneilu has died and Nameless travels to the capital city of Kierwater to deliver the news to his family. There, the God of War charges Nameless with a seemingly impossible task:

**I received an ARC in exchange for an unbiased review**.

This was one of those lovely fantasy books that suck you in so completely, you end up reading the whole thing in one giant binge. There are multiple LGBTQ representations in this book and the story itself is wonderful, with some major twists that rock.

The character of Nameless drives the story forward, and you can't help feeling for him: socially awkward, angry, and grieving the loss of his only friend as a result of the cruel Queen's Wa

The Paladin’s Path by Jessica M. Dawn is the first book in a new fantasy series featuring a wonderful group of characters and setting. Nameless has fled his small village to arrive at the capital with grave news. His friend Aneilu was recently killed and now Nameless must tell Aneilu’s parents of his death. Nameless doesn’t expect any more than to convey this tragic news, but suddenly finds himself being asked by Aneilu’s parents to stay with them. Not only to stay, but to take on a task that An ...more

The Paladin’s Path, Book One by Jessica Dawn is a low fantasy martial arts story, focussing on the character Nameless as he tries to right the wrongs caused by the Queen and a God Of War. He must join the Paladins, protectors of the Prince, if he is to succeed. A simple concept, done excellently well as the story is stuffed with mysteries, unique characters, and fresh looks at long-standing tropes. The magic is consistent and engaging. The martial arts are awesome. Every scene is earned and quic ...more

I read Jessica Dawn's book The Paladin's Path as an arc reader and I have to say this immersive fantasy, historical novel had a compelling tale of a young man trying to find himself in the midst of his grief channeled as a festering seething rage unleashed upon his enemies when he chooses.

His Bird Sqaud is filled to the brim with beautiful and multifaceted characters that really bring the story to life. From the determined yet naive Cheka, to the cooly reserved Aon-je , even down to the earnest

I was drawn into this world from the first page. You can feel the history of the place in the way the characters navigate it. Obviously my favorite part was that many of the main characters are queer and this isn’t the focus of the story. Instead this is a story about power struggles and secret identities, myths and magic. All the good fantasy things I crave plus cute romantic subplot and some seriously adorable side characters. I can’t wait to read more!!! Next book, please!
