Ava North is more comfortable talking to a dead man than a live one.

Unfortunately, that also means it's that much harder to find love. She's in her forties and an introvert. Chasing down bad guys and being the best homicide Lieutenant is a piece of cake. Mmm cake. Finding a good man to share life with? That's another story.

Slate Forbes is busting his fur to make a success out of his pack's cabin business.

He's too busy dealing with renovations, and a competing bear clan, to think of a mate. But none of that matters when the most beautifully awkward woman bumps into him and steals his drink. Now, he can think of nothing more than to find her, mate her, and make her his.

Coming across a dead body on vacation is not Ava's idea of relaxation, but she can tell something fishy's going on in the small town. She's not willing to let a possible crime go unsolved. Her focus on getting justice for the dead might be the end of her vacation - and her life.

With little evidence and no witnesses, she's not sure what to do. Will Ava solve this crime, or will she be the next name on the killer's list?

Homicide lieutenant Ava North is a hard nut to crack. Since she found her ex-husband in bed with a shifter Ava hasn’t wanted anything to do with men or shifters.
When alpha wolf shifter Slate Forbes gets a whiff of Ava he knows she’s his fated mate. But this is gonna take some work.
Too bad bodies are dropping like flies.
This is an exciting tale of murder and romance. Watching Slate woo Ava is a total hoot.

Book 26 of PDA series by Milly Taiden
Ava is a homicide lieutenant from Houston on a vacation with her bff.
Ava meets Slate a shifter at the holiday cabin but doesn’t know he’s a shifter which massively complicates things when she tells him all shifters are homicidal crazies that eat babies.
I really enjoyed this one because it was a bit of murder mysteries included in the romance. Hope we find out if Hailey get her he’s as well.
Love this series. Such a great variation between books

A Torturously Sexy, Slow Burn...

I can count on one hand the number of authors I read every book from almost as soon as they come out. It's rare that even the best writers woo me with every book they write. Especially those who publish several different series, with different styles, as I tend to fall in love with certain characters and never want to leave them. However Milly Taiden is one such exception, as everything she writes is vibrant, multifaceted, and full of unique and wild story landscapes that are always a fun, sexy ride.

Her Paranormal Dating Agency (PDA) book series is one of my favorites! Every PDA book in the series surrounds you with a cavalcade of quirky, emotionally intelligent characters who embark on action packed, self discovery adventures that lead them to their fated mates. They are simply fun, grumbly alpha filled reads that don't take themselves too seriously. Perfect for cleansing your literary palette inbetween longer/darker novels.

And this book, "Wolfing Her Down", Taiden’s twenty-sixth addition to her PDA universe. Is a perfect example of her quirky, sexy writing style. Although this one stands apart from most others in the series with its sexy slow burn, full of methodical, almost torturous pacing.

This installment is about Slate and Ava. Slate being the gorgeously hulking Alpha to his wolf pack, and owner of a breathtaking cabin resort deep in the Colorado mountains. And Ava, a forty-something, high ranking detective from Texas. A woman who lives only for her job after a painful divorce that left her with trust issues and a hatred of shifters.

What follows is a more serious and suspense filled story of murder mystery level intrigue, and about learning to trust in love again after a lifetime of bad experiences. It is a tale, that unlike Taiden's other more fast paced, insta-everything portrayals, takes its time. Where other PDA installments pitch you in a fast moving river of lust and love. This story simmers you in a pool of trepidation so steeped in angst and uncertainty you will find yourself calling out to Ava to have just a little more faith.

And I have to say, while I thoroughly loved the story here, and personally didn't mind the slowness of it. For many PDA fans used to the quicker, shorter fare, this one might test your patience a bit. As the pacing, while completely appropriate for the overall "learning to trust in love again" slant of the story, drags on for over twenty chapters. I promise you though, it is worth the wait, as once it gets moving the chemistry between Slate and Ava smolders and then leaps off the page with wild abandon!

Yes, this one is more straight laced and serious, containing far fewer of the super-charged sexy scenes many of the previous PDA installments contained. And yes, unlike many of the others, that showcase a more strongly willed alpha male character where the female lead ultimately falls in love and immediately starts having kids. This one focuses on a relationship that is more equal in all ways, both personally and professionally. All the while remaining a deliciously heat filled, heartfelt read full of love, twisty, sassy humor, and wonderfully compelling characters.

A wonderful addition to this series…
Ava north is a well-respected homicide detective in the city she is well known for her ability at clearing up cases that are waiting for someone to be solve who is responsible for murders and other crimes. She is in her early forties and has made her life helping people and solving crimes that no one else has been able to decipher or solve.
Unbeknown to Ava her mother had visited Gerri Wilder and had asked if she had any ideas of anyone who her previously divorced daughter might find to be a suitable partner, she wanted grandchildren and more importantly she knew that her daughter was not happy single she knew that she had always wanted children and a family of her own.
Slate Forbes had seen the two females on the side of the road and they had been looking at a dead female and he had helped them without realising that that she was in fact his mate. As Slate and she had started to spend time together as they looked for the individual responsible for the murders and the whys and what for.
The only problem on the horizon is the biased attitude that she has against shifters and this could possibly be a deal breaker however she felt so much for Slate and she knew that she would never have these feelings ever again. She knew that he was hers and he knew that she was the one meant for both him and his inner beast and he would loath to let her go.
This was a wonderful read where two adults that had found each other in a world where they were so very different and yet they had found each other, two half’s of the same whole.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Wolfing her down is the 26th book in the Paranormal Dating Agency series. In this book we meet human Ava & wolf shifter Slate & follow them on their road to happily ever after.

Ava is a cop & a good one at that. She has no problem tracking down clues & finding answers. What she does have problems with is meeting a nice guy to settle down with. She's in her 40's & an introvert so has pretty much decided that love is not for her. But her mother & matchmaker Gerri Wilder have other plans in mind. Will their plan to find Ava a man work?

Slate is the alpha of his clan & heads up his clan's vacation cabin business. He's got a new competitor to worry about, constant need for more renovations & no time to meet his mate. That all changes when he sees Ava. But will he be able to save Ava when trouble comes knocking?

First let me say I love this series. It's one I never get tired of. There's always something new & different in every new book. Wolfing Her Down is no exception. The main characters are strong but with enough flaws to make them likeable. The supporting cast is great, injecting just enough humor & drama to keep things moving. The story line kept me turning pages all night wanting to see what happened next. All in all, you can't go wrong when Gerri's in the mix.

Homicide Lieutenant Ava North is much more comfortable talking to dead men that live ones - the dead can't lie to her. However, deep down she would like to find a man to share her life with. Wolf shifter alpha Slate Forbes is trying really hard to make a success of his pack's cabin business, handle the renovation and a competing bear clan next door so thoughts of a mate are far from his mind, but that all changes when a beautiful and awkward woman bumps into him and steals his drink. Suddenly all he can think of is where to find her, mate her and make her completely his. Ava was not thinking of finding a dead body but when she does she can tell that something is not right in the small town. Unwilling to let the crime go unsolved, she focusses on getting justice for the dead as there are no witnesses and very little evidence. Will Ava solve this crime or will she be next on the killer's list?

This was definitely a merging of a story of a wolf finding his mate, a romance between a man and a woman all wrapped into a murder mystery. It was good to work through the mystery and find out who was killing people (it was not who I suspected it was), even though the wolf/bear clans competing was a bit boring. Well written and very enjoyable, it was great to see that almost everyone got what they wanted (or needed) at the end of this story. Contains some sexual content.

In this addition to the PDA series, we meet Ava North. Ava is a human homicide detective. She has an intense dislike of shifters after discovering her husband having an affair with one. Now, she believes all shifters are homewrecking, psycho killers that... wait for it... eat babies. Yes, she actually said that. After her mother and Gerri Wilder convince her best friend Hailey to conspire with them to set her up, Ava heads out for a weeklong stay at a cabin resort in Colorado. On her first night there she discovers a dead body in the road. The detective in her won't let her just walk away, so she decides to do some digging. She interviews some locals which leads her to Slate Forbes, owner of the local Hideout Haven Cabins, the same ones Ava and her friends are staying in. Slate knows instantly that Ava is his mate, but how is he going to win her heart after he discovers what she thinks of shifters?

This was one of the best so far in the PDA series. There was a plot, a mystery, some steamy moments, and romance. Add in the bears and Hailey and it just makes it an entertaining and exciting read. I really enjoyed it and I look forward to reading more.

You know somethings you can dust off your shoulders be okay with, cheating is always ugly and more so when it happens in your own bed. Our Sassy gurl is done with men and love, who can blame her. She focuses on what she thinks is important to her, her job which is a homicide detective so yeah she doesn't have time for pity or games.

You know that Geri *grins* there just isn't anyone better than our favorite matchmaker! I just love her face.

Life differences come to play in this story, Geri may have met her match in matching Slate and Ava in the midst of a trying to solve a crime, dealing with feelings that shouldn't be there and even a wee bit of prejudices. Oh yeah, Geri or fates as you will have their job cut out for them.

As always Milly does her thing she does so well. Creates a story and character that mix so well it has you grinning and fussing. Very cool story, well-rounded characters. A mix of emotions and some sexy scenes and of course the murders! rounds out this story. Enjoy

She has never let me down, I have read most of the Paranormal Dating Service and Gerri Wilder's shenanigans to say that I am a huge fan of the series. Milly Taiden tells great stories and her characters are all realistic enough that I feel like I know them before I even get halfway through the books. This story is exactly as easily readable as any of the other stories in this series, but different enough to show that the plot lines are unique and engaging. I loved the fact that the heroines of this one are over 40 and still manage to snag decent men, despite the whole age assumption holding them back. This story had enough drama going on with the mysterious deaths to hold my interest right to the end, and I read through it in one day. I would always recommend a book written by Milly Taiden, but especially anything in this series and this one in particular! It's a fun read, with great characters, a cool plot structure, and enough action to keep it interesting. I didn't see the twist coming at the end, you probably won't either, it's that smooth!

Wolfing Her Down- is the 26th book in the Paranormal Dating Agency series, not to worry it reads as a stand-alone.

Ava North found her ex-husband in bed with a shifter, and since she hasn’t wanted anything to do with men or shifters. Instead Ava focus on her career, a Homicide lieutenant, who happens to come across a dead body while on vacation with her friend Hailey.

Slate Forbes an Alpha wolf shifter is having problems with dead bodies popping up near his resort and the decline of vacationers. One evening Slate is drinking at the bar, he realizes his mate is in the same room.

This is a nice story of murder and romance, with a little match making from Gerri.

Are Ava and Slate are meant to be together as mates or partners in solving a crime? Will they be able to do both? How will Ava be able to trust the shifter community?

I received a copy of this book from Kindle Unlimited. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is Slate and Ava's story . After finding out what a dirt bag her ex is Ava has no time for men or even for shifters now . Slate is an Alpha wolf whom has the scent of his mate and will do whatever is needed to win and bed her ! Ava is a homicide detective and is seems like the killing is picking up and she has no time for this male that keeps trying to get her to notice him . But boy oh boy has she noticed him but is just determined not to follow through with anything ! Slate is trying his best to help his pack's cabin business to grow and dealing with bears whom seem to they do it better and now a hot woman has bumped into his life and after a whiff he knows she is his but he will have to help her stay alive long enough to win her ! This is a fast paced well written and recommended story !!

Ava has left romance behind after being cheated on (in their own bed!) by her husband. She has a lot on her plate as a homicide Detective and that's just one less thing she won't get worked up about. Pity her mum never got that message! She enlists Ava's best friend to get her to a weekend getaway and hopefully partake in some adult playtime! But with Gerri Wilder being involved you know there has to be amte in her future.

Slate is anAlpha wolf and entrepreneur who owns and manages the lodge where Ave is staying. Let's just say Ava makes a bit of an entrance, finding a dead body in the road. Before you know it she is up to her neck in a series of crimes and her peaceful weekend away is no more!

Add in some interfering Bear Shifters, an unfortunate introduction to Shifterkind and some malicious vandalism and Slate and Ava have their work cut out for them!

WOW! I love to read books from Milly Taiden. Wolfing her Down is the 26th book in the Paranormal Dating Agency series. This is Ava and Slate's story. Ava is an Homicide lieutenant in Dallas. Slate is the alpha of wolf pack and owner of the lodge. When Ava's mother get Gerri to help her to find a mate for Ava. Her mother gets Ava's best friend to get her to a weekend getaway. Theres a string of murders around the lodge and Ava can't help herself to get involved in them. I love how they both get tongue tied around each other. Can Slate help to convince that not all shifters are bad? This is a MUST READ!!!!! I HIGHLY recommend reading all of Milly Taiden books. Keep up the amazing work! I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Although I like the Paranormal Dating Agency stories as a whole, this wasn't one of my favorites. Ava seemed very set in her view-points. It leads to a big blow-up between her and Slate, then the resolution just felt a bit too quick and easy. I understood that Ava had issues from her ex-husband's cheating, but her attitude about shifters especially seemed over-the-top and rather close-minded. Slate was an okay character, but I really thought he was a bit lacking in depth. Honestly, other than his desire to be with his mate, Ava, I didn't get a good feel for him. The beginning of the story was okay, but the ending just felt a too rushed. I was more interested in Ava's friend Hailey than I was in the MCs.

Ava & Slate

Ava, homicide cop, has given up on men and a family. She's pretty much devoted to working and that is it. Her mother and best friend don't agree and arrange a vacation where she can meet hot guys. It turns out she's not opposed to hot guys. Unfortunately, some dead bodies might make it hard to vacation without thinking about the job even though it isn't her jurisdiction.

Slate, as alpha, is busy making sure their pack business is successful. Will the dead bodies interfere? His feelings he's too busy to find his mate may just change when he sees Ava. Yep, she is the one. There might be more at stake than the bodies, how does she feel about shifters?

The story is full of intrigue, steam, fun characters and a romance to cheer for.

Enjoyable read with an interesting plot.
Once again we get a heroine with the mindset that shifters are mindless killers but she does apologise and admit they are no worse than humans.
Slate promises not to ever lie to her but then they have sex without Ava knowing the truth about his shifter side.
For a detective she is awfully slow on the uptake of them being shifters with all the evidence around her. There are a few slip ups with words being started, e.g. bears, wolves. Slate even talks about his pack.
But she was great at solving the murders.
At a couple of points I felt like I was reading an unfinished copy. Statements are made that felt like they were meant to be expanded.
Kindly offered this book for an honest review but read through Kindle Unlimited.

Ava has a stressful job as a Homicide Detective so pressed by her best friend they head off for some much needed down time. Before they even make it to their cabin they come across a body in the road, so much for a relaxing break away. However when she meets resort owner Slate she finds herself falling for him a little bit more with the time they spend together. With more bodies turning up Ava is unable to ignore the situation so this is turning out to be far from a relaxing break away but just maybe it's time for her to take a chance again at a relationship and move on from past heartbreak.

Ava and her best friend were going on vacation. All thoughts of relaxation aee dashed for Ava when they find a body in the road on the way to the resort-which is run by the very sexy Wolf shifter and Alpha Slate and his pack. But Ava doesn't like shifters - between walking in on her ex and a shifter who physically threatened her and what she experienced and heard on the job as investigator..... Not being able to walk away, Ava put her all into solving the case but when she finds out that 2 additional deaths are related she gives it her all. Can Slate convince her that not all shifters are bad and keep her-his mate safe? Another fabulous paranormal romance by Milly Taiden

I have to say the best part of any book in the series is Gerri!!! I love that woman.

Taiden is one of my favorite authors and I was excited to read this book. I was a little disappointed. I didn't like Ava. She was too serious and unlikeable to me. She wasn't open to new things and just being in the moment. I enjoyed her friend more than her. Slate was just okay. Also, I just don't understand how she didn't know they were shifters.

Sadly, I didn't finish this book and stopped at 42%. This book for me didn't give me everything Taiden usually gives in the first quarter of all her books.

Going strong at book 26.

Wolfing Her Down: Paranormal Dating Agency Book 26
By Milly Taiden
Ava and her friend Hailey
Gerri is at it again!
Slate went to Gerri for her help in finding a mate, but it's been so long he gave up hope of ever finding his mate.
Forty-two-year-old Ava doesn't know her life has changed for the better until she and her best friend goes away for a week.
This is the 26 book in this series and by now you're already familiar with this series and LOVE it. Somehow Gerri helps the lonely find their mates. One by one they fall in love and give us great stories to lose ourselves in. I know when we are at book 126 this series will still be going strong.

Another wonderful addition to the series!!! I will say that Ava was very different compared to the other clients that Gerri had. I also enjoyed that this was a murder mystery with the romantic element. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read looking forward to next book in the series also hope to see if Ava friend Hailey get a HEA as well. Ava is pretty much married to her job as a police detective.
Her mother on the other hand is not.
Mom really wants grandchildren.
With some help from the ultimate matchmaker Gerri Wilder the two whip up a vacation with hopes of mating included.
They even wrangle Ava's best friend as an accomplice for the match.
When Ava arrives for her vacation she's met with a murder mystery.
Even on vacation she can't get away from work.
Luckily, she's soon sidetracked when she meets wolf shifter Slate.

I loved this 26th book of the Paranormal dating agency series. The story with mystery and solving a crime along with hot romance and finding love along the way is always a wonderful treat. Visiting with Gerry Wilder is never boring no matter how much or how little she appears in the story. In addition, the wonder of winter and snuggling beside a roaring fire is always welcomed. Once again Milly Taiden took me away to the wonderful of of shifters.

Well this book had an older female lead which was a nice change. The author is really good about changing the ages so it isn't always 20 somethings as a good number of authors tend to do. I like how they were both concerned about solving the mystery murders but despite being an Alpha he deters to her for investigation moments. It was nice as well reading that the big ol' wolf shifter couldn't stand looking at a body being autopsied. Love the characters and how genuinely sweet that he ends up being for her the entire time with the exception of keeping the shifter part of him a secret.

Loved!

Gerri is at it again.

Ava North is on vacation with a friend visiting a resort. She's a homicide detective who believes the worst about shifters, so when she meets Slate Forbes, alpha of the wolf pack, she has no clue he's a shifter. Her biggest no-no is liars.

Slate immediately smells his mate and is hooked. But when she tells him about shifters he refuses to tell her who he really is.

When 3 people are murdered within days of her arrival, Slate asks Ava for her help. Not knowing that the murderer is one of his own.

A must read!

Loved this book, it was thoroughly enjoyable and to be honest these books are so readable they don’t get old!
I really look forward to a new book by Milly and each new PDA still fills me with excitement that I can’t wait for the next instalment, even though I’ve read over 20 books in this series I still eagerly await the next one.
Loved this book, and Ava and Slate were a great couple, and it was nice to see an older woman meet her soulmate, just shows that you’re never too old and it can happen at any time.
I would highly recommend this book, as I would the whole series, however you don’t necessarily need to read them in order but why would you not?!?
An absolute treat.
