My Sister’s Boss

Rate this book
Nikki would prefer staying unemployed rather than work for him, but she is left with no choice. She is forced to work with her sister's boss. He's arrogant, demanding, blunt, impatient, and not to mention, stunningly good looking.

She cannot wait for the two weeks to be over and for her sister to return, so she can get away from the playboy billionaire, who makes the air between them crackle and makes her question her resolve.

Arguments between them start to heat up, and the lazy glare he gives her at the end of every argument makes him even more attractive, making every moment with him torturous.

Between the heated glares and board-room meetings something sparks to life between them shaking up everything she had planned.

My Sister’s Boss is a standalone, passionate, office romance with a sweet HEA.

Lots of tension and angst in this book between Niki and Pranav. I couldn't wait for them to sleep together to cut through some of the sexual tension that PG Van builds up in the story. When it finally happened it, was like a dam broke and the story flowed.

Nikki is working for her sister's job while she is on bed rest. Pranav is the boss man. He is demanding and intelligent. She just has to make it until her sister, Sanju can come back to work and then Nikki can escape to NYC. But every week Nikki falls a little more for him. Every week, she wants him a little more. When she finally gets him, she realizes what all the fuss is about. Yet, when Pranav accuses her of the unthinkable, can she pick up the pieces or are they too shattered to be repaired?

The more he is around Nikki, the more he realizes that she is the one. Together they can conquer anything, apart they are just two people. Pranav has never felt this way before. NEVER. When Pranav jumps to conclusions and blames Nikki for something his brother did, that's the ultimate betrayal between them. Can he win Nikki back? Or did he just cause the biggest mistake in his life?

The characters are great to read. You learn a lot about the family dynamics on both sides, plus you get to see how Nikki and Pranav interact. Like I stated before you can feel the tension rolling off the 2 main characters. I loved the slow build between Pranav and Nikki, the slow burn to their fire. And I loved how it ended! That was amazing and not at all what I expected to happen.

P.G. Van certainly knows how to keep her readers on the border of their seats. When I started reading this book I got more and more engrossed in it and did not go to sleep after a late night party just to finish reading it. Another best seller by the author.

I went in expecting an office romance with a plot. What I got was basically lust wearing a name tag and pretending to be a story. Every interaction between the characters circles back to physical attraction, to the point where I started wondering if the plot took a vacation and never came back.

There’s little character growth, minimal emotional depth, and a whole lot of repetition. It reads less like a romance novel and more like a collection of steamy moments loosely taped together.

If you’re here purely for spice, you’ll probably be satisfied. But if you’re looking for an actual story with substance… you might find yourself flipping pages wondering when it starts. Spoiler: it doesn’t.

My sisters boss is good book to read ...
I loved the characters of this book but ...somewhere I felt Nikiila character is too very impulsive and Sanjana character is too protective about her sister 's well being which I felt a bit disappointed about because to discover and rebound with true love you have to undergo hurt ...
To become strong ..
I feel
Overall the book is good to read..

Well I must appreciate the author for having so beautifully crafted the whole story. Makes me believe it might have happened somewhere out there. The way she not only had the main characters in pictures but involved every single person that meant a whole lot in the entire story. To be honest the book had me hooked right from the being and just couldn't stop myself to having read the book in a go. So hats off to the writer!

Why did she have to give up her plans to move to new york all of a sudden just because she fell in love 🤷🏻‍♀️ Overall it was a boring book. There wasn’t any chemistry between the MCs and the third act breakup was nonsense and so not required and the no grovelling afterwards was even more ridiculous.

PRANAV and NIKHILA

Nikhila (Nikki) is doing her sister, Sanjana a favor by working her job, so that Sanjana can rest during her pregnancy.
Sanjana is dealing with a very tough and secretive merger with her boss, and she only trusts her sister to take over, until she has her baby.

Nikki does not have a favorable outlook towards Pranav, her sister’s boss. She believes him to be a heartless playboy, forcing his sister to work long hours for him, even clean up his ‘extracurricular’ messes and be at his beck and call daily.
She expects her time to be torturous and cannot wait to escape back to New York and continue her career and life there.

But she soon starts to respect the work ethic and is fascinated with the challenges thrown in her direction. There is actually a lot she can learn from him business wise.

Pranav is a boss’s boss. He is a dedicated businessman, keeping insane hours himself and also expecting the same work commitment from his employees.
But there are many facets to his personality, which Nikhila slowly discovers, and her prejudice and snap judgement of him falls away. From the very beginning, Pranav is a character that shows concern, nut also plays his cards very close to his chest.

Despite Nikki’s attitude and mistakes, he protects her, without letting on his true motives. Its the little things he does, that are scattered all throughout the book that pin point to the change in him towards her.
His character has multiple facets. He is a shrewd and ruthless but brilliant businessman, an adorable and loving uncle, a devoted son, and an even tolerant brother. Nikki even discovers how much he actually cares for his sister as a friend and her hatred and disdain slowly start to change into feelings of admiration and then love.

“It’s like she was iron dust gravitating toward a magnet and had to stop finding everything he did fascinating.”

But at the same time, she knows that nothing sis going to come out of this relationship and keeping her distance is the best way forward.

“She was an adult and knew there was nothing wrong about having feelings for a man, but this one turned out to be her sister’s boss, and she could not afford to jeopardize anything for her sister.”

“No, Nikki. He is a good man, but he is still off-limits. He is your sister’s boss. Don’t mess this up for her.”

Pranav is fascinated by Nikki. At first, he is only hiring her for the sake of her sister and is dismissive and even rude to her, but soon she starts growing on him. He sees her business acumen, he dedication to work as well as her willingness to adapt to a situation with all her heart and starts to melt towards her.

Nikhila is actually a very smart, ‘can think on her feet’ kind of girl. She has innovative solutions and ideas that are impressive, especially in problem solving. Seeing her with his family, he falls in love fast.
What I really liked about this book is how much business is actually in the book. Its not just a typical romance in the office. There is actual work happening, which adds to the realistic nature of the story, and doesn’t leave the book as a fluff piece of a cliché boss and secretary romance.

Its an office romance, with a trope of close proximity, a bit of pride and prejudice against each other, a lot of push and pull, stolen glances, romantic intimate moments and an insane amount of sexual tension.
Add to that a whole lot of Indian family drama, a few jealous moments, and a little angst and misunderstanding, and you have a hell of a good book!

There was no denying anymore that what had started as a giving-into-the-attraction-and- indulging-in-each-other’s-desire was no longer pure lust but was something else.

I will most defiantly recommend this author and her work!

PS : The entire scene on the terrace on his birthday is too cute... the grown-up version of twenty questions, and the way he lets her know his feelings is just all one big ‘aww’ moment. Not to mention the earring and the bangles!

It's a good read. Although, I would have preferred Pranav's (H) point of view. You do not come to know how the guy feels until the end. There is short portion somewhere after the 21st chapter, but it is not significant. Other than covert or overt stares and the flirting, there is no indication. Also, there is no angst in the book. Although Nikki realizes somewhere in between chapters towards the end that she is in love, as a reader it did not show build up for me, if it did not culminate into love. My opinion is solely based on the romance novels I have read for 10+ years. The author has potential. The mushy stuff in the last two chapters appears a little forced and wordy. Overall, it was interesting and I solely read it to know how it would end. I am looking forward to read more books by this author.

Too slow

A slow paced story with not much suspense. Did not really feel like I was reading a PG van book. I was waiting for this book, but ended up a tad bit disappointed
