She’s engaged. She’s transformed. She’s ready for anything. Except her future in-laws...
Kelley Vanders-Froggett’s life is finally in order again: she’s on break from a great job, she has a supportive family, and she has Anthony Salamandras, her hot alien fiancé who’s making it all too hard to wait for the altar. Yeah, she’s still figuring out his culture, but everything is finally falling into place for their life together on Earth.
Then Anthony’s brother shows up declaring Kelley unworthy to marry into his family—unless she passes ancient trials. Never mind that these trials haven’t been used in generations. Either Kelley proves herself worthy, or she’ll be separated from Anthony forever.
Three trials, no warnings, and everything on the line. But Kelley’s already survived one fiery test, and she’s not going home without her man, no matter what it takes.
My Alien Engagement is the second novelette in The Accidental Alien Romance Chronicles, a series of short romantic satires featuring a sassy heroine, a hot alpha with a side of derp, a sweet core, and a fiery happily-ever-after.

I beta read this, so not the finished version, so no review yet because I might be wrong about something that changed and I haven't had a chance to read the finished version, but I liked the beta version and ... my Goodreads challenge page is looking pretty sad.
I enjoyed this one even more than the first one! The story was engaging and great. Amending "fun sci-fi romance short story" to "fun fantasy romance short story"--while the first one could pass as (very) soft sci-fi, this one definitely swan dives into fantasy--and I loved it.
A lot of things have changed (including her species), but Kelley is now one engagement ring closer to her happily ever after. But will that change when her in-laws insist she must go through “the trials” to prove herself worthy of their son?
A very satisfying sequel to “My Alien Boyfriend” with all the same quirky humor and amazing, characters. A short fun read. I’m very happy.
My alien engagement by Janeen Ippolito, the sequel to My Alien Boyfriend. It follows the continuing adventures of Kelly and Anthony, as they try to plan a half alien half human wedding. Only the alien half has some cultural conventions that modern and independent Kelly has an issue with.
I loved everything about this story and that comes from someone how hates reading romance.
Kelly is the heart of this story calling out the ridiculousness of the romance tropes as well as showing us why they became tropes in the first place.
The second best thing in this novella, is that is part of the Steel City Genie universe and ties into they series really well.
Whether you love or hate romance, there is something in this story to make you smile.
This is not a long read and starts off just where you would want it to. Kelley is now engaged to her wonderful alien boyfriend, as difficult as her transformation has been, she now has to prove herself to Anthony's family. It was only supposed to be two trials but Kelley doesn't know when to quit with her questions so it turns into three trials.
There are new characters in this sequel and Kelley's family has an important scene also, both aspects I loved. The dialogue in this is SO GOOD! Really looking forward to the next novelette for this series, such a clever story.
I received a free copy of this ebook. I was not required to write a positive review. The thoughts and comments are my own.
This satirical romance novelette has a large cast of characters in a few short chapters. A couple of cameos pop in from Ippolito's The Steel City Genie series too! You'll need to read Book 1 (My Alien Boyfriend) first to fully understand what's going on. It's a fun quick read with some hot kissing! Kelley and Anthony go through so much in such a short amount of time that I wish we could have had one more chapter with them enjoying each other at the end. I received an ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I loved this one better than My Alien Boyfriend. Why? 1. We got to see more of the two characters, and the heroine became a little more self assured. 2. I realized (& maybe this was just me and my slow brain) that this story is loosely tied to the If Wishes Were Curses world (which I really liked).
Again it was another quick read, but I really enjoyed it.
Super fun follow-up to the first novella! This snarky romance is just the thing to make you smile. If you enjoyed the first book, don't miss out on this one!
