Matt Watter’s ‘Dream Phaze—Germination’ is a fast-paced, sci-fi drama featuring a healthy dose of technology and a fascinating ‘Dream Immersion’ premise.
‘Dream Phaze’ is the story of the husband and wife team of Saxon and Margo, a pair of scientists who have created ‘Dream Immersion,’ a super advanced virtual-reality-based tech that allows users to experience the past and potential future.

Dream Phaze by Matt Watters is a sci-fi novel set in the not-so-distant future about Dr. Saxon Zynn and his wife,Margo, who are in the late stages of developing dream immersion technology. The premise is an intriguing read; the characters are extremely knowledgeable about various decades, eras, history, subjects, and incorporate events from the past in their dream immersions such as witnessing meteors, fighting wars in the ancient Roman Era, a 19th century bar fight with American cowboys; these

Author Matt Watters gives readers an interesting take on the concept of dream immersion in this debut sci-fi drama Dream Phaze. Australia 2046. Dr. Saxon Zynn and his team at Zynn Communications have worked tirelessly on their Dream Immersion Platform, a type of virtual-reality where users can experience the past and the possible future. The endless possibilities are shown through various engineered dreams experienced by the characters and are scattered throughout every chapter. Unfortunately as

An incredibly interesting plot, enticing characters, and definitely a hard sci-fi book for lovers of the genre. Watters' attention to detail and the ability to write with such fascinating ease to the genre made for a really enjoyable read. The addition of a futuristic dream technology made it feel very much like a less harrowing episode of Black Mirror. There was something about this book that felt very abstract and ephemeral (much like a dream itself) and I really think it worked. It was endles

Upon beginning ‘Dream Phaze’ I was taken by the entire concept of Dream Immersion. I have never read on the subject before and found that aspect engrossing. One of the best bits about this book was that it made me think, it made me consider things I hadn’t before.
There were parts of the narrative that I found lacking, which was extremely disappointing. The use of technical language was overwhelming, and I had to flick to the glossary numerous times which hampered my enjoyment of the novel.

Interesting characters with an intriguing plot. It's a short novel but the idea behind it has made me think and that's why I gave it four stars.
There have been many novels that use dreams as a plot device. They use them to transport the story somewhere else, then exit the story for the reader to realize it was all a dream. Wizard of Oz comes to mind.
Dream Phaze explores engineered dreams as an ongoing source of entertainment and I think that is a fascinating idea. ...more
