Rating: 3/5- a pretty okay story, simple however inaccurately portrays social phobia and the seriousness of it which dampened the read for me.

If you're reading this for fluff then you'll enjoy it. If mental illness triggers you, then this may not be a suitable read. There are many tropes used in this story that warps the concept of mental illness and ptsd caused by socially incited trauma. Of course the biggest taboo of the story was highlighted in many reviews: non-consensual tampering of medication.

Another massive peeve is how the author creates a character with so called social phobia but did not write his personality or behaviour traits in remote consistent with said Psychological diagnosis? The MC is on serious medication but nowhere does it state he goes for regular therapy whilst on this meds to monitor his progress. His triggers that caused the ptsd are never raised or addressed ever again and he shows no resistance in line with social phobia whilst in social situations. All because the ML is his knight in shining armour.

How disappointing.

I wanted to like this story, but felt immensely disturbed by the MLs manipulative behaviour. I personally couldn't find their relationship healthy due to the dependency the MC eventually formed for the ML. The MC ended up not making any friends outside of the ML, he didn't have a social life, he hardly even increased interactions with his family.

Throughout the story his "healing" is defined solely by his relationship with the ML and no one seems to find this weird? Or unhealthy?

I've said this in a previous review with an MC if similar mental health: LOVE DOES NOT CURE ILLNESS.
Mental, physical, emotional- you name it. It's all fine and well to read a story for lighthearted moments but this author really did not pay attention to the subject matter she based the entire novel on, which was really unpleasant.

Overall- a book filled with potential and a topic that could have excelled if researched and completed faithfully, unfortunately all you're left with is a flat, trope like novel with very 2D characters and subtle manipulation and toxicity until the end.

Aaaah...I'm loving how fluff is literally overflowing in this book. It just doesn't stop on giving, there are barely angst, and the amount of dog food we're about to be fed throughout was just unbelievable and I'm deliciously digging it, haha!

And I had no idea Man Man He Qi Duo was behind this, I've been rereading FOG before jumping into this because I really like the way they wrote the relationship dynamic of both MC and ML, and turns out this is their work too.

This was a rather easy & sweet read so it's not hard to finish it in 2 days or even shorter. Got some bit to nitpick about it which I would explain further on the spoiler part below, but overall this was just cuuuute. I still have a couple novels written by this writer left to be read though, might as well check them out later!

This is an incredibly sweet story. Don't worry though, you won't catch diabetes while reading.

93 chapters, and it is a fast read.

Hai Xiu has a social anxiety disorder. Here's why:

Hai Xiu is bullied at his previous school by both the students and his teacher.

One day, he has had enough and beats the teacher with a chair. His mother transfers him into another school where the teacher is a lot more accommodating and resolves to socialize him better. She gives him a task where he must hand out test papers to his fellow students. He thinks he's doing well, but then a student who had been sleeping and not paying attention, Feng Fei, becomes aware that he has been given the wrong test paper!

He gets out of his seat and plants himself right in front of Hai Xiu, complaining that he had been given the wrong paper, and writes his name out for Hai Xiu. He is also the class resident bad boy and looker.

From this point on, they are inseparable and oh-so-cute as they grow together as a couple.

Feng Fei is relentless in his pursuit, but he is just a lovely, lovely young man. And Hai Xiu comes out of his shell just a little more for Feng Fei.

I just adore Feng Fei. More partners should love their significant others this much.

I highly recommend this novel not only for the characterizations but also for how the plot takes a backseat to the characters. This is a character driven novel, and it is lovely, and genuinely funny. From the moment they meet, Feng Fei becomes a great partner for Hai Xiu, and Hai Xiu for Feng Fei. I never once felt like they weren't truly in love.

And I loved their families. Their coming out scene is one of my favorites.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This is a young adult-new adult contemporary web novel.

The story centered on Hai Xiu and Feng Fei. Hai Xiu transferred on his third year of high school due to experiencing bullying from his classmates and teachers. This experience scarred him and made him develop social phobia.

Feng Fei is your typical problem student but due to his family background, the faculty just let him be as long as he doesn't do anything excessive.

Their lives crossed due to Hai Xiu giving the wrong test paper to Feng Fei. Since then Feng Fei started interacting with Hai Xiu and found him cute. This started their sweet love story.

This is a sweet high school story about young love, growing up and achieving your dreams. It has a lot of sweet moments but there are some bits that I think are too mature that disrupted the flow or atmosphere of the book for me. But all in all, I enjoyed reading this. Recommended for feel good reads.❤👍

At first, the plot was really childish, but I still continued reading since it got potential. Midway, I thought there will be angst, but I reached the ending without any rain or storm. There were a couple of chapters were I found the plot too status quo, especially with not much character development. Though I found the overall story a bit too bland, no rollercoaster, like a train just going in one direction from the first stop to the last stop; it did remind me of first love. This is exactly how a first love should be. A first love that turned into a lifetime; or rather, a puppy love that turned into true love.
