I’ve been researching about learning disabilities for a work-in-progress, and my librarian gave me Legacy of the Blue Heron: Living with Learning Disabilities by Harry Sylvester. This memoir is packed with resources and understanding regarding learning disabilities.
Sylvester is not a doctor or education expert. He is sharing his experiences and his advocacy for those with learning disabilities, child, teen, or adult. This memoir is easy to read, clear, and concise. The biggest point I’ve taken away from this short memoir is to know your abilities as well as your disabilities. Once you understand that you learn differently, you can discover how to move forward with your education and with your life. An invaluable resource for parents as well as educators.
