She was only supposed to be a job, but now I can't seem to walk away.

Connor

Fighting is all I’ve ever done. I’ve fought for my father, my brothers. I’ve fought for money or just for the thrill of it but now I have a new reason to fight. I must fight to keep Ava safe only this time it’s not with my fists.

Ava

I’m broke, working a dead end job while hiding from my abusive ex. So yeah life isn’t great right now, that is until Connor. He arrives at the bar I’m working at, strikes up a conversation and I’m hooked.

I’m hooked because he’s awkward and there’s darkness in him that I’m drawn to. Yet it’s also the reason that I know I should stay away.

This was book 2 in the "Wild Irish" series. Conner O’Reagan's family are members of an Irish mob. Conner is a street fighter who has distant himself from his family. When his brother Shane who we met in book one shows up to bring him home. Shane tells him that he has a job for him find out if Ava Smith witnessed something that she shouldn't have. Ava Smith is working in a bar hiding from her landlord because she is late in her rent. Ava is also hiding from her abusive ex Brain. There was a lot of tension between the brothers. This book was intense and dark and twisted. As Conner gets to know Ava he wants her more and more and he will do anything to protect from including from his family. This book had some confusing parts in it like how some of the son's are also Liam who is there father he is also some of his son's uncle's did he marry his brothers wife and raise his son's as his own and what really happened to the mother. This was a good read Conner and Ava had a lot of chemistry. This book did have a few errors in it. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

This book is outstanding, powerful, and intense … a passionate, deep, and intriguing second book in the Wild Irish series. It is superbly written and fast pace with a real sit on the edge of your seat story line; there is violence, suspense, drama, murder, danger, love, passion, steam, and more heart-racing adventure. The characters are well developed with off the charts chemistry between them. A very exciting read! Definitely recommended.

4,5* Full of suspense, intrigues and secrets - dirty, violent, criminal world

This is intense, gritty story set in violent, cruel and twisted environment. World that is very complicated and with each book it's getting darker and the tension builds. Family ties are getting clearer but also looks very very complicated and twisted. It not black and white. It is not so obvious who's good and bad guy. There are so mysteries to be solved and truths to revealed.
This part tells story of Connor and Ava. I'm sure with how the book ended it's not the end of their journey yet. We got glimpses from the lives of two previous couples and it's getting more and more interesting. I loved the dark theme which is a little bit different in here than what I already know from other books with mafia tropes. I like how the story line is build and I really couldn't put this book down. I stayed well past midnight just to finish one more chapter but ended half past two in the middle of the night finishing it. Can't wait for the next parts as I'm so curious what is going to happen next. There's so many ends to tie, so many mysteries to solve and I'm very very interested if after all all those relationships will survive all the curveballs thrown their way. I need more!

This book is the second in the Wild Irish series. I didn't realize this but found that I could still read and enjoy this book. In this book we get Connor and Ava's story. Neither one of these characters have had things easy and they know how to fight and be strong but what if you could find someone to share that with or even find someone that just makes things easier? Ava is working in a bar and trying to avoid a nasty ex but also may have added more complication to her life by seeing a little something she shouldn't have. Connor is out to protect his family and his current mission is to find out how much Ava may know or if she realizes what she saw. What starts out as only business but the attraction that is between Ava and Connor is beginning to make this personal. Even though this I read this book and enjoyed it, I get the feeling that I need to go back and read book one before continuing further. I think maybe a few more connections will make sense as well. All things considered, I still thought the book was a great read and cannot wait to continue with the series. Enjoy!

Ruthless is the second book of the Wild Irish series by VI Carter. The primary characters are Conner O’Reagan, family member of an Irish mob boss, and Ava Smith, bartender who inadvertently witnessed a potential crime involving Connor’s brother. Conner is sent to investigate if Ava recognized the men removing an unresponsive man from the bar in which she is employed, but, the two are instantly attracted to one another.
This book is action packed starting from the first page to its end. I could not put this incredible novel down! Ruthless has family loyalty, suspense, mystery, violence, murder, revenge, romance and steamy chemistry. VI Carter has authored an intriguing, well written, and outstanding book. I strongly recommend the purchase of this great book.

Connor is indeed very ruthless. But he still have feelings. And to be able to deal with some of his feelings he need to go and to burn some steam out and beat somebody, he fight. He came back to his half-brothers because it was asked of him. There was things he needed answers for. What he didn’t include in his plan is one special woman to pick his heart and not let go of it. Ava didn’t search anyone to be with, she had enough on her plate: very strange landlord, violent ex-boyfriend, gardai who pose too many questions. Connor, the man full of mysteries, was not her plan. But he was there, to save her, to protect her on every occasion. She is the only one for whom he is no ruthless at all. Beautiful combination of passion, love and very hard and difficult world of irish mafia.

Blown away completely, Conor just fights to get rid of his anger, it helps, but with a family like his he could be fighting forever. Ava should never have gotten mixed up with Brian, now he wants her back, Conor is watching Ava it seems she knows something about Shane, and Shane is edgy, now Ave has caught Shane's eye he wants her. So much going on, a family at war and that's just between themselves love isn't smooth for these guys, and the girls make them pay for mistakes. A must read.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Yet again Vi Carter has found the perfect balance of angst, drama, violence and romance to completely draw me in! There were no plot twists, but I didn't feel anything was missing as the depth and complexity of the characters, and their connections and interactions were more than sufficient.

Connor is one of the brother's mentioned in passing in the first book. The way he meets Ava and his reason for talking to her only nurtures deceit in their early relationship, making it difficult for Connor to come clean and reveal his initial intentions. I loved the dynamics of their relationship and how it blossoms.

The brothers each have their own personalities. Although brought up in the same dysfunctional familial environment, I am fascinated how the author produces such subtle nuances in each brother. Their defence and coping mechanisms.. and their love hate relationship with one another whilst wrestling with the undercurrent mantra that 'family comes first'.

I love this disturbed bunch, with their half siblings, step sibling, and father who is technically an uncle (to one of his 'son's').. it's toxic and it's a great read.

HFN Irish Mafia story

Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, a couple of intimate scenes without much detail and violence (lots of it, as expected just.

This is the story of Connor and Ava. There are a couple of parts that are confusing, such as how is Connor’s Da related to his half-brothers’ Da. Can only assume brothers, but never really explored and to me it would help the storyline to know.

Also there are numerous grammatical issues but I was able to easily interpret the author’s intent with the exception of one sentence. I believe it could be an Irish wording or phrase that is known, but didn’t make sense to me in America.

While this could possibly be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend it be read in order. There are two many “strings” to the storyline that it would impact reader satisfaction and it would provide some spoilers.

If you are more a fan of the mafia story itself, rather than the romance / intimate scenes, then this could be a good series for you.

This book was a little better than the prior ones. What I think frustrates me is the prequel book. We get the feeling that Margaret and Michael are destined to be together, but now in this book, it would seem that she cheated on him and had a kid, Connor? But then it's confusing because at the end of the prequel it says that Margaret and Michael had 5 kids. And Connor is one of those kids. But he calls someone else Da. The confusion continues because he's expected to be there for his brothers Liam, Shane, Finn, and Darragh but yet Liam, Shane, and Michael are constantly reminding him he's not really family. There are just some things that aren't lining up with what I felt like we were sold in the prequel. I like Connor. Shane, I go back and forth on but towards the end, he started to win me over.

Twists galore in this one.

Ruthless is a great read. Book 2 of the Wild Irish Series.

We finally meet the mysterious Connor.

This family has so many secrets, there are twists galore.

We have a family deeply divided, with some trying to keep the middle ground. Another who is so troubled they seem intent on bringing themselves down.

Ava as seen something she shouldn’t have, Connor is sent to find out what she did actually see. However he gets far more than he bargained for.

This is a love story that can go so wrong.

New Finish!
Ruthless by Vi Carter. The second book in the Wild Irish series.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This story follows Conner, another brother, on his journey to find answers. As he looks for the answers he meets a girl that will throw a wrench in all his plans for his life.
I really enjoyed this story and can not wait to find out more about Connor and Ava, as well as the rest of this family. As the author spins the story of the one brother we also learn more of the family as a whole. The book will keep you page turning and hungry for more of the Wild Irish.

Consistent

After reading the second good in this series the storyline makes me want to keep read but the title had me expecting more. The overall storyline I give a 5 star, the dark scenes which was i would give a 4 and the sex scenes a 3.5. I would say Connor and Ava was a bite steamer than Finn or Shane but it ended as quickly as it began. Overall an easy read and really like the storyline.

OMG I love Connor! The story of Connor and Ava, I just loved it, but there are just so many mysteries surrounding the brothers! I read the prequel book about the Michael and Margret So I am really confused at the moment as to what happened with them and where Connor fits in? He’s not the youngest but I don’t think he the oldest either so totally confused as I thought by reading their story their relationship was good and especially with all those sons? Hope we get to know what happened at some point but am assuming this is the main story that is going to run throughout the series!

He protects her when she needs it

Vi Carter is able to tell a dark and gritty story in an entertaining and riveting manner. Ruthless is well written and has a very engaging story-line with well developed characters in Ava and Connor. Both are very flawed, as we all are, in their own way but yet they are very likeable and their relationship is highly entertaining. This is not a quiet romance but instead is a story that has a lot of action, grit, suspense, danger, passion, violence and of course a whole lot of steamy sizzling chemistry.
I enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading the next in this series.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Ava works in a bar, she is having trouble with her ex-boyfriend. Connor is a dark person he generally uses his fist to do his job fighting for his family. Connor was talking to Ava and found out Ava having problems with her ex-boyfriend. The chemistry is hot and steamy, it is also emotional.

Oh what a tangled web...

Not only did the primary story keep me on the edge of my seat, the intrigues of the other characters and how they will tie in had my imagination running amok. I never knew what was coming next until I turned to the next page!
