Skata only has one goal in life--to seek out the vampire who turned his wife and kill it. When he finally tracks the vampire to the small nowhere town of Salvation, South Carolina, he realizes he has stepped foot into something much bigger than himself.

He's going to need help--and that help may come in many forms. Forms he hates. Between the vampires, werewolves, shape-shi

IT IS FINALLY HERE!!! I beta-read this book ages ago, utterly fell in love, and have been waiting ever since to be able to share it with the world. AND THE TIME HAS COME!

I’m going to get this out of the way first: this book is a dark urban fantasy. It is about vampires and werewolves. I do not read books about vampires and werewolves. That is just not a genre I’m into. Vampires gross me out, gonna be real. Usually these urban fantasy books are over the top and icky and weird and against everythi

Attention, world! Author Mirriam Neal has a new book out and it. is. spectacular. (Of COURSE.) I love this author’s writing so much (Paper Crowns being one of my top-ten favorite books ever), so I was ecstatic when I heard she had a new book releasing! *muffled screaming*

I don’t exactly read vampire books so imagine my surprise when I read this one and genuinely enjoyed it. I actually beta-read an earlier version of it several years ago, so I’m DOUBLY e

I'm quite torn on the actual *rating* of this so... Probably 3.5, rounding to 4 stars. **REVIEW UPDATED 10/30/19!**

STORY

Absolutely adored the writing style and the story telling aspect of this novel. I read it in a day (and it’s A THICK BOOK I was so happy). Every author can learn a thing or two from Mirriam as far as how a story should be told… Intriguing and well paced, it was easy to gobble up. I liked the aspect of vampire and werewolf hunting a great deal, and with a Christian perspective,

As someone who has found indie fiction to be hit or miss as far as quality of the book itself, I have pretty high expectations - higher than I might, even, for traditionally published novels. Needless to say, DISN blew my expectations out of the water. I should expect no less from the height of raw talent that is Mirriam Neal.

Dark Is the Night boasts an extraordinary cast of characters - human and non-human alike - that could rival its supernatural counterparts on television, like The Vampire D

“Neal captivated me from the very beginning with a cleverness and wit that reminds me of William Goldman. Dark is the Night is nimble, yet deep—perfectly dark with a surprising amount of heart. I’m picky about vampires and this is a novel I’ll read again and again. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.” ~Morgan G Farris, Author and Creator of EpicFærytales.com

Warning: This review is basically me going to be fangirling about a certain sassy vampire. Okay? You’ve been warned.
I have to admit, I was a bit nervous going into this book. I knew very little about it and had just been told it had vampires, so I’d love it. Very scary. What if I hated it?

Well, the good news is, I didn’t hate it.

I freaking loved it.

This story follows Skata (not Mr. Skata, just Skata) on his quest to end an evil vampire for very specific reasons that I’m not going to tell for sp

This book is a promising start to a great new series. Characters leap off the page fully fleshed, no matter how large a part they play in the tale. Repercussions and open questions draw readers in for the next installment, and the snark and banter offer a levity that balances the sometimes grim nature of the plot.

i don't read christian fiction. just gonna throw that out there at first because i feel it's relevant. so much christian fiction is trite sermonizing with something that parades as a ~deep theme~ thrown in. this book isn't like that, and it also has vampires. i love me some vampires. i love me some moral exploration. i love me some well-handled nods toward grace & forgiveness & goodness.

also, angel very specifically.

i love angel, specifically.

if you read this book for nothing else, read it for z
