When You Became Mine

Rate this book
I was twelve years old when I fell in love with Piper Kelley. Even at the age of eight, she was everything I wasn’t: brave, bold, and beautiful.

The night of my college graduation party, I finally made my move, but Piper only had eyes for one man—my younger brother.

With a battered heart, I left for Vegas, determined to put her behind me. But eight years later, fate proved once again that it had never cared about my plans.

Now, I’m back home, and determined not to fall into the same trap I spent the majority of my adolescence trying to escape.

But when Piper finds herself at the risk of losing her medical license, I realize just how far I’m willing to go to protect her.

I was twelve when Piper Kelley became mine.

It’s time I let her know.

➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

WHEN YOU BECAME MINE: Is a full length, stand alone from friends to lovers romance novel by new to me author A.S. Teague. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives.’

In this we meet (Lawson, Hampton and their sister Georgia, and twins Jack and Piper) Lawson was the oldest, Hampton behind Lawson, then Georgia, then Jack and Piper.

We meet them at eight years old, four friends that were raised like siblings, Piper’s mother was Lawson, Hampton and Georgia’s nanny so they always did things together.

It was always Hampton that came to Piper’s rescue when she’d gotten hurt, or so it seemed, he’d come in like a knight in shining armour and rescue her, making her depend on him more than the others, Lawson was always in the background doing nerdy things like reading or on his computer or doing whatever nerdy boys did, he was never in the thick of things like the other three.

Lawson was a buzzkill. He was boring, dorky, a tattletale. Rarely did we hang out together, and when we did, it wasn't by choice.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Piper has harboured a crush on Hampton since forever, but his focus was elsewhere. One night changed the group dynamics drastically, splitting up the group, Lawson leaving town to move to Vegas with a job offer, hoping distance away from Piper would allow him to get over his own crush on her, it also had him not coming back to his hometown for eight years. Barely keeping in touch with the ones he'd left behind.

Until now…

He’s always had feelings for Piper, now she’s landed in his house as his roommate things are going to either heat up or they'll end up killing each other.

Give me a book about childhood friends that become lovers and I'll sign up for that shit as soon as that arc sign up hits my inbox..This was such a good solid read, I was pulled in straight away. All the feels in the world, from start to finish I was in my happy place. I loved these two main characters and the secondary ones that came through that we also got to meet. I highly recommend this read!!

Lawson has always been in love with Piper, during childhood en early adulthood. But she never saw anyone else but his younger brother Hampton. Even when Hampton admits to being gay and in love with Piper's twin brother she stays best friends with Hampton and Lawson takes a job in Vegas and stays away for eight years.

When he returns he gets saddled with Piper when Hampton suddenly marries and she has nowhere to go as she was his roommate. Still in love with Piper Lawson waits for the day she might see him.

I liked the story as a whole. It was written well and I kept on reading. But during I felt quite annoyed with Piper. She sometimes acted like a real immature brat. She should have been thankful Lawson gave her a place to stay, but she was messy and mostly rude. It took quite a while before she even noticed Lawson.

When they finally start something we are confronted with a little mystery, but it was not hard to figure out who was behind it all.

One of the most irritating heroines I’ve read this year. She’s shameless, immature, a complete slob and for a doctor she’s pretty stupid. I don’t know how in the world the H could still love her after seeing what she’s really like. A kid or even a dog would be a better housemate than this girl. At least kids and dogs are willing to learn as long as you’re patient. The H, even though he had the patience of a saint, would never get through someone who’s not willing to listen to anyone but herself. Such a self centered brat. There’s not a single thing remotely likable about this h. First and last time I will read anything from this author.

Plot: 3
Writing: 2
Hero: 3
Heroine: 1
Chemistry: 1
Safe: DNF but I think yes this one is safe. But you’d wish the H would just cheat because the h is so unworthy of him.
HEA: DNF at 40%

Really enjoyed this read from start to finish. Just enough angst to keep it rolling with an equal blend of sad and happy. Two stubborn leads and some terrific back up characters. Intermingled family/friends from childhood with a dose of suspense, too. Just my kind of delightful reading experience.

Vale o passatempo, mas achei a distribuição meio errada. Nos 50% já estava tudo certo com o casal, depois apareceu um conflito investigativo nos 50% restante e eu revirei os olhos, rs

No chemistry at all....

I can't understand why Lawson was so infatuated with Piper. They are NOTHING alike and it shows when they were forced to live together when Hampton so rudely evicted her from the apt they shared. She is inconsiderate - leaving her stuff whereever it lands, taking a 2 hour bath when there is only one bathroom in the whole house, etc. Lawson couldn't stand living with her and yet he still wanted her that badly? What did Piper do that was worthy of Lawson's notice?.... Hampton is a jerk. Nothing was redeeming about him either. He is self serving and I also cannot understand why Piper kept going back to him for emotional support. Best friends don't treat each other the way they do. I was annoyed with every character in this book.

This was one book that I’ve had on my kindle for a while, that was recommended by a friend. I’ve never read any thing by this author before, and I was pleasantly surprised! This was a friends to lovers romance that was only a little angsty. But I just loved Lawson and Piper! I’ve never really wanted to strangle two characters from a book before as I do them!! Like seriously, they are 2 of the most hard headed make believe characters ever! I really enjoyed this story! I will definitely be reading more from this author!!

Oh my word....this book came completely out of nowhere and knocked me off my feet. As I was reading certain parts of this story I could feel my heart aching, and it made me so emotional. It’s not often that books bring out that kind of reaction in me. Piper and Lawsons story was really beautiful and I loved every minute of it.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lawson Reed has been in love with Piper Kelley since he was 12 years old. Being 4 years older than her, he protected her and watched over her from afar. The whole time they were kids, Piper was in love with someone else – Lawson’s brother, Hampton. The problem – Hampton is gay.

It seems that everyone knew how Lawson felt about Piper, except Piper. She continued to be best friends with Hampton, especially after a tragedy they both suffer in their late teens, which leads Piper to stay closer to home to take care of Hampton.

Lawson agrees to have Piper move in with him after Hampton elopes. To say they don’t get along would be an understatement. Piper feels that Law hates her – she’s so naive.

I absolutely loved Lawson. He was such a sweet character and took such amazing care of Piper, even when he did not realize it. Piper herself was a strong character; she has suffered a devastating blow in her life, discovered the boy she was in love with was gay and came out stronger for it. Once she finally came to terms with how she felt about Lawson, it was a beautiful love story.

Lawson and Hampton’s sister, Georgia, was really quite hilarious. I would love to see her get her own story. I enjoyed Lawson’s co-workers as well.

One thing I didn’t love with the way Hampton treated Piper. He walked all over her, and she let him. Once she let herself fall for Lawson, she became more dependent on him and not on Hampton, which was good to see.

The “drama” was a bit predictable, but added something interesting to the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I would recommend it.

Piper’s mother was the nanny for Lawson, Hampton and Georgia so she and her twin brother Jack were like family to them. Lawson is the oldest and he always felt a responsibility to look after Piper and he loved her since he was a child. The only problem is she wasn’t interested in the younger geeky version of himself and she was and developed feelings for his brother Hampton instead. Unable to be close to her without being “close” to her he moved to Vegas.

Eight years later he has moved back to his hometown and it appears that Hampton and Piper will never be anything more than friends. When fate steps in the sparks fly as Piper starts to see Lawson in a different light will these two friends becomes the lovers they were always destined to be?
Lawson fell in love as a child and his feelings for Piper never wavered and although it took Piper a long time to realize it hers were just as deep. Hot chemistry, humorous banter and a great group of family makes this a story you don’t want to miss. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

When You Became Mine is fantastic book that will have your mind and heart full of all the feels. Starting with their childhood and continuing through adulthood, you follow characters and a story line that A.S. Teague has brilliantly written.

As the story unfolds, you learn of the hardships that life can throw at you along with the celebrations. Piper and Lawson are childhood frenemies that are thrown together by circumstances and begin to recognize that there is a connection. Well, more Piper than Lawson, cause Lawson has always had a yearning for Piper but hid his true feelings.

As their relationship develops from their friendship, life throws some obstacles in their way. As they work through this difficult time, they become closer and realize their love for each other.

With outstanding characters, excellent story line and superb writing, Ms. Teague has given us a MUST READ that I will be recommending very highly. Having followed her writing since her first book, I feel that this is her best work and look forward to her future work. 5 Stars #2OCCMS

There's nothing like unrequited love. The heartache when you love someone for so long and they just can't or won't love you back... this is a story involving unrequited love twice over.

The tragedy that breaks Piper's heart also binds her to Hampton more than ever before. Little did she know that she always belonged to someone else.

The lows from the heartache make the highs from the HEA so good. If you like a book that gives you all of the feels this is a must read. And make sure to bring your tissue. (Review by Terri "Jane")

When You Became Mine is another phenomenal read by A.S. Teague that I absolutely loved every word of. This book is a childhood friends to lovers romance that spans years and decades and many moments with these characters that will take your breath away. From start to finish this book delivered an outstanding story that was exceptionally written, thoughtfully crafted, and that had me LOVING these characters with all that I had.

This story follows a group of friends as they grow up, as they live their lives, as life changes them and throws things their way, and as they all try to figure it out along the way. This book is just as much about love as it is about family and friendship. It is just as much about happiness and lightness and good times as it is about the trials and tribulations that life can bring your way. It is just as much about the strength and fire and determination you have as it is about those moments when you let the enormity of it all just hit you and let that vulnerability show.

When You Became Mine is a story that encomapsses so much of everything. Friendship, romance, family dynamics, the intertwining nature of past and present, and what happens when you realize that the one person you needed has been with you the whole time. This story explores the ever evolving relationships of these characters over years of time and shows the varying dynamics they all share. Interwoven with that is a love story that you will not soon forget that is bursting with so much connection and intensity that you will NEED more of.

This is an incredible story of family, friendship, and more connection and fire than you can shake a stick at! When You Became Mine is a heartfelt friends to lovers romance that will wow and consume you on every single page.

This book follows the story of Lawson and Piper, two childhood frenemies who start to realize that the connection they share may mean more than both of them are ready to admit quite yet. When You Became Mine follows them from a young age, through their teenage years, and into adulthood as they face what life has to throw at them. Through love, laughter, pain, heartbreak, and more unforgettable moments than you can imagine, Lawson and Piper and their rest of their families handle life as it comes to them. When tragedy strikes, they band together. When pain comes in, they lean on each other. When the going gets tough, they figure it out one way or another.

The more life throws at them, the more the more these characters try to figure it all out. Yet there is something about the way that Lawson looks at Piper, and the way she starts to look back at him that will stick with you as you journey along with these characters. That boy has loved that girl his whole life, but she’s always been unavailable for one reason or another. This book shows what happens when the pieces for these two finally come back together again, and when they are given that chance to see what could be. When You Became Mine follows Lawson and Piper as they are brought back together in the same space after many years, as they push the buttons only they know how to push, and as they feel and breathe and live the electric pull they share.

What ensues with these two is nothing short of wonderful. It is bursting with the most intense and alluring level of push and pull. It is full of their personalities and their banter that holds such a connection behind it. It is wrought in the best way with their distinctive voices that make this story truly theirs. This story is them, it is real and full of feels, and it just feels good to read. I can’t say that enough. Reading this book made my heart happy, and getting to be right in the thick of what Piper and Lawson are sharing will give you so much that you will love. And it is all brought to life in the most real and engaging way through A.S. Teague’s phenomenal writing.

What I really loved about this book was how much I got to know each and every one of these incredible characters through this book. A.S. Teague does the most exceptional job of showing these characters throughout their lives, at their best, at their worst, at moments that stop them all in their tracks, and in moments that give them everything. She shows you them in their truest forms, and more than that, she allows you to understand and love them on the deepest of levels. She gives you Lawson and Piper and Hampton and all of the other amazing and memorable characters that make up this world. These characters made this world one that I was so not ready to leave, and I loved that.

I loved getting to know and love all of these characters. I loved getting to see all of their interwoven stories and relationships unfold in this book. I loved getting to be there in the tough moments that pushed them all to the edge. I loved getting to be there with Lawson and Piper as they inched closer to that tipping point of changing everything between them. I loved getting to see how friendship and longing and tangible connection came together in this story to make one helluva love story. I loved that this story just gave me these characters. It gave me them, flaws and hearts and crazy wonderfulness and all, and that was just the best.

The actual best.

What I also loved something fierce about this book was getting everything that I did with Piper and Lawson. Those two are gems and the fire and intense push and pull they share is off the charts. That push and pull is amplified by the fact that neither of them really wants to tip the boat and give into what they are sharing together. You see Lawson has been infatuated with Piper since they were young children, but there have always been things that have held him back from expressing what he feels. When he finally comes back to town after years away he must face those feelings for Piper head on, and he must figure out what in the world he’s going to do with them now. Piper has always viewed Lawson as the older brother/friend who loves to annoy the crap out of her. He knows all the right buttons to push, just like she does, and their back and forth and banter knows no bounds. But when Lawson returns, and is sexier and more muscular than ever, she soon starts to give into feelings that have always been there in some way for her.

What ensues between the two of them is full of fire, personality, and a connection that will draw you in like a moth to a flame. What those two share is bursting with a chemistry that is so specific to them, and what you get with them along the way as they figure it all out will have you loving them with all that you have.

Trust me.

There is no possible way to meet Piper and Lawson and not love them. There is no way you will meet them and not feel their pull or their presence with one another. There is no way you can meet them and not believe in what they are sharing and building. It’s simply impossible to resist the allure and pull and meaning those two share together.

A.S. Teague shows in every word of this book how things soon start to change for Lawon and Piper. Their glances become longer and more meaningful, their feelings start to grow exponentially, and they start to see and hope and think of what could be. With the events of this story interwoven with what they’re sharing, this story balances the perfect amount of love, friendship, a little bit of mystery, and a whole lot of connection that you will literally not be able to get enough of. Through every part of this story you get more of them, more of that pull that sears them to one another, and more of everything they are sharing and building together. Through it all A.S. Teague invests you in the, and everyone around them, with your whole heart, and you will absolutely love every moment you get with them all.

You will love the moments that make you smile and laugh with the shenanigans of this wonderful and blended family of characters. You will love the moments that tug at your heart and make you feel all the things for them as they face the many challenges they do. You will love the moments that just allow them to be them, to feel and share what they do, and that become the foundation for what is created between Lawson and Piper in the pages of this book. You will love getting to experience and feel every ounce of what those two share and how very real it all soon becomes. You will love getting to be there through the longing and fire and connection and intensity that grows into something so heartfelt, something so honest and vulnerable, and something so beyond right.

What you get with Lawson and Piper in When You Became Mine will show you just how right things can be when given the chance to thrive. Sure the ride may take a few twists and turns along the way, and it may take these characters to places and moments they never thought they’d be in, but in the end it is all so worth it. So beyond worth it. Because what you get with them in this story will make you feel good, will show you every part of these characters, and will have you believing and knowing with all that you have that some things are just meant to be.

What A.S. Teague created in this story was just fantastic. It was so easy to read and enjoy, and it just felt good to read. I never wanted this story to end because I never wanted to leave this world or these characters, and I love that I felt that so strongly through every page. What she gives you with her unforgettable characters is a story that will reach every part of your heart, and that will show you again and again the true power and meaning and amazingness of friends and family.

When You Became Mine was the perfect friends to lovers romance that will flood you with heart and humor and more personality and connection than you can shake a stick at, all while giving you a love story that will melt you something fierce. You will absolutely LOVE this story and these characters and everything you get with them. I promise you. A.S. Teague completely delivered it all in this book with these characters, and she will have you loving every single word of what she so incredibly brings to life in every amazing page of this story.

So get on to loving this story because there is no way you won’t fall heart first in love with Lawson and Piper and all of the other outstanding characters of this world. You will love them and their quirkiness and their tenacity and their honest hearts with your whole heart, and that is just a fraction of what makes this a truly outstanding read.

This book does NOT make any sense.

DNF 21%

Piper is bold, strong, a spitfire. When she was a girl, she would always get into trouble together with her BF Hamilton. Girls and boys at school would harass her and tease her until her savior intervened. She has loved Hamilton ever since.
That is of course why she has never had a boyfriend while he has been having one girl after the other. *eyeroll* So glad they don't end up together.
Anyways, so Hamilton used to be the one who would supposedly get Piper out of trouble so when Hamilton is broken and on the edge, Piper decides to be the one who is there for him, even if he cannot reciprocate her feelings.
Oh and then, even though she knows there will never be anything beteween them, she still does not have one freaking boyfriend. Why? I do not even know honestly... work as a nurse apparently...and yes, I get it, it's a tough job but come on, I am sure she could spend some time in dating...

Now, Lawson was and is the exact opposite. He is boring, a coward, a tettletale. He is the responsible one, the one who tells his friends not to freaking drink and drive. And the one who has been in love with Piper forever.

Now they aren't really why I did not finish this book, the plot is, though
Cause it makes no sense why Piper HAS to move in with Lawson when he returns to the City, Hamilton gets married and HAS to throw his roommate and BF out. No sense whatsoever. She could have just freaking stayed there for a while longer until she found another flat or rather until her supposed BF isn't so chickenshit to tell her he wants her to move out. I mean what's the deal???

So yeah, Virgin heroine and ridiculous plot and I am out

I didn't love this one as much as I was hoping to. I absolutely LOVED Undisputed and I was so excited to read a new title from this author. It had a really strong start plus it was one of my favorite premises--a hero who harbors secret love for the heroine for years (to everyone's obvious knowledge but hers). However I think the fact that the hero basically ran away to the other side of the country for 8 years (right after he and said heroine had a "moment" that could possibly have kick-started their relationship a LOT sooner) bothered me a bit. And then when he finally came home, he still pussy-footed around for an excruciatingly long time before SHE made a move. And why did it take him so long to finally say "I love you"? I mean LONG after she admitted it.

There were several plot "twists" that were pretty predictable too. Still, I didn't hate it, I just wanted to LOVE it more than I did.

This is a story about friends to lover. It was a great written story that had me reading for hours on out. They grew up together and then they didn’t see each other for years. Things change when Lawson comes back after being gone for 8 years.

Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I recommend this story.

Very basic. The most irritating and immature heroine. I could not stand Piper was dense and constantly cried, whined, or couldn’t do anything for herself but she was suppose to be a doctor??? Most irritating hero. Lawson was grouchy, silent, angry. Hampton, Lawson’s brother was the most irritating immature side character.

The plot was stupid. The characters were terrible. I should have DNF but I had to know why this damn book was written. No answers. Just dull.

“Piper Kelley, there is no one else in this world for me. It is you. It has always been you. And until I’m one hundred and ten it will be you.”

Lawson, Hampton, Georgia, Piper and Jack were raised together, practically as brothers. The first three, the employer's kids. Piper and Jack, twins, are the nanny’s children. Lawson, the eldest, has always been the most distant and reserved. A real nerd, he was not an athletic kid or teenager, he always had a book in his arms and was a joke on the part of the younger ones. Hampton has always been Mr. Popular, full of friends and good at sports. Piper loved Hampton. Lawson loved Piper. A girl. Two brothers. And many things not said among the three.
When a tragedy happens, Piper finally confronts Hampton. Except she did not expect the confession she heard. And so, the two narrow the bonds of friendship that have always existed. They become inseparable. And Lawson decides to leave because once again she chose his brother.
Years later, Piper and Hampton are doctors and still live together. Hampton is in a relationship, and Piper even after all this time still compares all men with him. She changed her plans, gave up the college of choice to stay with him, and year after year still puts him first.
Lawson is a computer genius. After so many years, he hoped he had already forgotten Piper. Back in his hometown, he knows it's only a matter of time before he meets her again.
Piper, Hampton and Lawson. Adults now. And yet the triangle remains. Lawson loves Piper. Piper still puts Hampton first. With a shocking revelation from Hampton, Piper and Lawson end up dividing the same roof, and between fights and disagreements, these two will learn to know each other better.
Lawson was the star of the book. The discreet and quiet young man grew up and became a righteous man full of virtues. He has always been responsible, always kept others from doing something wrong. The episode of the pool and the accident already showed his character. Even hurt because of Piper's actions, he welcomed her, opened his house for her, cared for her. He was passionate, loyal and protective.
Piper and Hampton have always been inconsequential. The scenes from childhood show that Piper always did what she wanted without caring about the consequences. She irritated me at the scene of the accident, running away from Lawson. Her bad idea of comforting Hampton was not at her best either.
Hampton was a mystery to me. I had not expected the turnaround and the secret he confessed, that part of the plot was brilliant. His friendship and dependence on Piper was sometimes selfish on his part, he knew how she felt, and used it to get things his way. With everything she'd given up to be with him, he might have been more sensitive about putting her out of home
The book presents a mystery, a twist in the final part. The villain is predictable, but nothing to compromise, the motives are different and the story interesting. I hoped that Lawson would finally get the girl of his dreams, that Piper could see it and find out the truth.
The text messages exchanged between the two brought lightness to the plot, it was nice to accompany Lawson in love and can demonstrate this feeling. Piper redeems herself by recognizing that she likes him, her fears are valid, but she's willing to give that relationship a chance. I loved her finally seeing everything she gave up for Hampton, and the fact that he was not that close.
This is a second-chance novel, with a good guy to make you sigh, a woman who the reader may want to speak some truths in her face but that redeems herself, funny scenes, romantic, a little tension and a happy ending.
I got the impression that Hampton still has a story to tell. I wanted to know what his happy ending will be like.

I have read a lot of books this year and I hate to say it, but I don't really remember it, just an impression. I did like it and I plan to read more by this author but without reading more about the storyline and a few reviews, it's lost to my memory. My memory is getting terrible anymore so the fact that I don't really remember this one.....wait...... it's coming back to me....... OK, got it.

Piper is best friends with Hampton from when they were very young. When he saved her life she decided she was in love with him and that never waivered. Piper, Jack, her twin brother, Hampton and Georgia, his sister were all inseparable. But then there was Lawson, Hampton Georgia’s older and nerdy brother. He was the one that did his best to kill all their fun and he drove Piper crazy. The four younger ones had a great time growing up until a tragedy changed things forever. One of the fall outs was Lawson moving away.

It’s now years later and Lawson is back. Only he’s not the same Lawson who moved away. Nope, he’s not nerdy at all anymore and instead is pretty darn hot and Piper sees him in a whole different way now.

To give any more of the story line would give to many spoilers except to say that for years Piper read him all wrong. The reader finds out but it takes Piper longer but Lawson has been in love with her for years and years and it’s very painful to see her waste her time on Hampton when he knows Hampton will never feel the same about her. It was actually Lawson who saved her life all those years ago and has been the mysterious benefactor that has always been watching out for Piper. For example, and spoiler here, it was Lawson who in actual fact paid for Piper’s schooling, not some mysterious scholarship that suddenly is available for her. Lawson has been keeping tabs on her for years.

I love this story of unrequited love. Our hearts hurt for Lawson as he longs for Piper to ‘see’ him and return his love. Lawson is a wonderful, heartbreaking hero. And while I really did like Piper, I did find her a wee bit oblivious of who was standing in front of her. Nevertheless, this book gets a well deserved thumbs up and a rec from me. And yes, I will be on the search for more books by A.S. Teague, a new to me author.

I’m a sucker for a friends to lovers romance and I thought that’s exactly what I was getting into. Except I’m not sure I’d call Piper and Lawsons relationship a friendship at the beginning. Growing up together their families are extremely close and Piper and Lawson are either bickering or ignoring each other more like siblings or cousins tend to do. Lawsons brother Hampton is best friends with Piper and she only has eyes for him and the two of them are always together which leaves Lawson sometimes been left to be the older, more responsible one out of their little group. Lawson has always had this intense attraction to Piper and a need to keep her safe and although he’s spent years trying to get over her, even going so far as not seeing her for years, when his job takes him back to his home town he finds his feelings haven’t diminished in the slightest and he’s yet again about to step in to help her out when his brother lets her down. Getting to really know each other as adults, their friendship grows stronger (in between the bickering and a few bumps in the road) and it’s getting impossible for Lawson to hide just how far he’ll go to keep Piper happy.

I fell so hard for Lawson. He’s unbelievably sweet, loyal and caring and I found it hard to not get frustrated with Piper for not seeing him the way I did. Piper was another great character that I really liked. She’s dedicated and ambitious but there’s a softer, more dependant side to her that makes her extremely easy to like.

I adored this story. I love AS Teague’s style of writing and the emotions that she makes you feel when you’re reading one of her books and When You Became Mine was everything I was hoping it would be.

When You Became Mine by A.S. Teague
“Opening your eyes, 5 stars”

Lawson is the oldest of the Reed children which meant he spent most of his childhood trying to rein everyone in, especially when you add in the Kelley kids. The five of them were basically raised as siblings. Then one day things started to change for Lawson where Piper was concerned. When he got older he left and hadn’t come back until now. Now Piper is more grown up and right in front of him. Will he finally make a move or forever keep himself in the brother bubble?
Piper loves all of the Reeds, they are her family. Once upon a time she had feelings for Hampton but that’s since changed, he’s just her best friend. When Lawson comes back he’s not the same man she knew when he left. Then Hampton throws a curveball at her. Will she recover? Will Piper be able to rekindle some kind of relationship with Lawson before he leaves again? Only one way to find out…go one-click.
I really got into When You Became Mine. I liked the idea of the heroine somehow overlooking one brother for another then opening her eyes. I totally agreed with Lawson’s assessment of Hamptons relationship with Piper. I loved how Georgie was loud and willing to gossip about any of her siblings. It was like the family took a big sigh of relief when these two decided to try out this new part of their relationship.
The only thing I didn’t like about it was I figured out who the enemy was right off the bat. Other than that, this book was a homerun for me. Go one-click.

4 Stars!

When You Became Mine takes the reader on a journey that spans 20 years. Two friends, as close as siblings. Piper loved Hampton her entire life, until a tragedy brought secrets to light. Lawson loved Piper, but could never compete with his brother Hampton. Lawson left town and now eight years later, he is back and Piper is his roommate.

This was a good read. I am not usually a fan of time progression books, but I liked how the author did it here. She progressed through important times in the characters’ lives without over doing it. Then brought it all home when Lawson returned to his hometown. I loved how we, the readers, could see Lawson’s feelings for Piper, but Piper never realized it. I think it allowed their relationship to progress organically. Nothing was rushed. There was even a little mystery in the book that was a nice addition.

A good read— romantic, fun, emotional.

I enjoyed the story very much! The miscommunication that if prevalent in everyday life is portrayed so well you feel like you are right there wanting to bop both Piper and Lawson on the back of th head for not going head first and telling each other what they feel both positive and negative. I can't help but feel sorry for Hampton even though i want to shake him for falling for anyone that acts like they love him and for the way he ultimately showed his true colors. I can't wait to read more from AS Teague!
