New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Ashley brings a new novel in her River Rain series…

From a very young age, Chloe Pierce was trained to look after the ones she loved.

And she was trained by the best.

But when the man who looked after her was no longer there, Chloe is cast adrift—just as the very foundation of her life crumbled to pieces.

Then she runs in

I had high hopes for this one for me after reading ‘After the Climb’ because I really liked the kids in that story and this is about Imogen’s oldest daughter, Chloe. I liked Chloe and I liked Judge. Both of them were great characters and I enjoyed Judge’s back story and I as the oldest sibling I could relate to Chloe some.

What I struggled with was the romance. I don’t know why but I never felt connected to them as a couple and I’m not sure why. Because of that it made the story drag a

What an incredible read! There was so much emotion in this book that I wasn't sure my heart could hold it all. I felt like this was a different take on a Kristen Ashley book. I say that because it has a lot of what I have come to love about her books, but also there was jut more to it. It felt deeper.

The best part is that Judge and Chloe are the kind of couple that I can expect from KA and why I love her books so much. Judge was incredible. I loved his stubborn, flirtatious pursuit of Chloe. He'

So this is me indulging in my KA reading. This had lots to think about...

Some of The Hard Stuff...
About how children can be nurtured and cared for or unfortunately, become a tool to teach an ex a lesson or become a pawn.
How money helps... And It Truly Does...but it cannot eliminate personal pain.

But Lots of the Great Stuff, Too...
How even though children may have had a very difficult experience if the child has some sort of positive experien

I went into it hoping for some good feels, and some of those old KA feelings. Did I get it? Well...let me break it down.

The Good: It's always going to come back to the found family scenes for me. Also, there's a comfort in her style, even when it's stream of consciousness. I like the Swan-Pierce-Duncan-Oakley crew she's got going here and the family scenes are the best things about this. The romance itself is fine, if not amazing, for me. The scenes where we get more snippets of Corey (Chloe's u

I can't help but wax poetic about Kristen Ashley's books. They're fabulous just like her characters, but mostly because of the heartwarming, feel-good sensation you're left when you get to the end.

Thoughts on why I loved this book:
💜 I want to be friends with any & all of these characters. They're all imperfectly perfect.
💜 I love the ideas about the environment & how to care for it through education, it's an important matter & a wonderful background subject.
💜 I adored all the great causes tha

This is a hard one and will likely be a mess of a review. I liked it, most definitely, but there was just something different about this book and I can’t put my finger on it. Not different like I didn’t like it or anything, just different in the fact that it didn’t grab me in the same way KA’s books normally do. Most times I need a plan if I am going to read a KA book. I need to know I have the time to get sucked in and nothing else needs to be done. Part of that was missing here. I didn’t want ...more

3.5 stars. This was an okay read for me. Chasing Serenity is book one in the River Rain series and is Chloe and Judge's book. We met Chloe in After the Climb, the prequal to this book and her mother's book. Chloe came off as a very flighty woman who talked in French half the time because she spent time there. In Chasing Serenity, we see that there is much more to Chloe and she is in fact a complicated person. Judge works for Bowie, Chloe's new step father, running outdoor camping adventures for ...more

Review by Lisa Kane

This one started a little slowly for me, but once it picked up, it kept my attention. Chloe Pierce is fiercely independent and has no problem letting the man she is involved with at any time, that the relationship is going nowhere. She comes across a little harsh, but that's just her nature. She's the child of two famous parents and is witness to drama and divorce and feelings that cut to the bone. But she's determined to make her own way regardless of things going on around h

I have been a long time fan of Kristen Ashley. I absolutely love her character development and the ride her stories take us on. Chloe and Judge's story was just so delicious. They had banter for days and their back and forth was just off the charts. I loved this story so much!

I especially loved how independent Chloe was. Like so many of Ashley's heroines, Chloe was sassy, spirited and independent but knew a good man when she saw him. There was something about her chemistry with Judge that I love

3.5 Stars!

“Life was not easy. You suffered for what you earned. Worked for it. Cheated for it. Stole for it. Whatever you had to do to get it.”

Chloe Pierce was trained by the best to look out for the ones she loves. But when that special someone passes, Chloe’s foundation breaks into pieces. If that wasn’t enough, she just has to bump into Judge Oakley. He’s her opposite in every way and drives her absolutely crazy. Each encounter with him ends up in disaster. Unfortunately for Chloe, Judge like

Utterly Magnificent!

If I could give this book more than five stars I would, I just loved everything about it. The banter between Judge and Chloe was great, the chemistry was scorching, and the angst wasn't over the top...pure perfection.

Chloe finds herself a bit lost after the loss of a loved one, upon his death she found out had betrayed her family and now she doesn't know what to do about certain things because he was the one that always looked after her while she looked after everyone else. I

DNF at 50% - I tried. I really REALLY tried. But Chloe is maybe in the top 3 of most unlikable characters for me. There is literally not one thing about her that I don't find annoying, infuriating or just plain ridiculous. I hated her from chapter 1 and I read 18 more hoping that I'd come around but if anything it got much worse. ...more

I was really looking forward to Chasing Serenity after reading the prequel to this series. While there were parts of this book I loved, there were parts that drove me completely crazy, but let me say that’s kind of the norm for me with author Kristen Ashley. I love some of her books and others I’m ambivalent about, so maybe it’s just me. That being said, I appreciated that this book was emotional on several levels, I enjoyed the opposites attract angle even when they were more alike tha

This one fell a bit flat for me overall, but there were many moments I enjoyed. The relationship felt very rushed in the beginning there was no real tension or lead up, it just sort of happened. Though I did really like how committed they both felt for each other once a quick conflict was resolved. There were some instances of weeks and month time jumps so that felt slightly disorienting, but it made how serious they acted with each other more believable and less insta-lovey. I real
I'm probably in the minority here, but everything was too choppy for me. I just have mixed emotions for the characters even with the main couple. Some of the story needed to be condensed. I will say second half was better than the first half so some of you might have to push through it.

I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Chasing Serenity is so essentially Kristen Ashley. I wish I could bottle the feels I have and smell it from time to time just to get high on Kristen Ashley's genius. It was the raw feelings of love, forgiveness, grieving, family, friendship and everything mixed those kept me bound to the book and I never want to leave.
Another KA alpha hero who mixes bossiness and swoonworthy alpha protectiveness and I have nothing to shield me against the nuclear weapon named Judge Oakley. Anothe feisty KA her

His name is the bomb. He is rugged and outdoorsy and he just might be the most kick ass, dirty hot, badass, romantic book boyfriend to date. I mean...he could give Lee Nightingale a run for his money. Judge is like a crazy fucking awesome mix of hot, sweet, dirty, and deep. I couldn’t put it down and I couldn’t get enough.

He thinks her crazy is cute:

Just about 4 stars. Kristen Ashley has a signature writing style. She writes in long run-on sentences, which often have different thoughts interspersed in them. You’ll either love her writing style or find it hard to follow. I love it. With that said, this book was a little different than most of KAs other books, in that the heroine (Chloe) was never in danger. There was no real bad guy coming after her, forcing the hero (Judge) to go all alpha on her. Though we did get some alpha moments— this ...more

It's been a long time since I read a book by this author, and when I saw that this was the start of a new series, I jumped at the chance to revisit her writing. I'd almost forgotten how involved her style is and how much it draws the reader in. It took a little while for me to settle into the story as the author took time to build the characters, background and landscape. However, once I did, I became pretty invested.

Chloe Pierce and Judge Oakley are opposites and rub each other up the wrong way

Another win in KA column. Chloe and Judge were everything you would expect a Kristen Ashley couple to be...him stubborn and bossy, her smart and headstrong, both totally likable and able to draw you into their world. I'm looking forward to more in this series, and I need to go back and read the prequel. ...more
Liked. But the main characters in this entry are just so damn young and childish so my old lady interest is a bit…depleted. Bring back the old folks…if not the remaining parents, can we get the H/h in their late 30s at the least. Ashley’s good at sex scenes but when the main characters are babies like these kids, I expect thumb sucking not…well.

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

I am completely and utterly enamoured with Kristen Ashley right now. If my bank account was endless, I would have made a further dent in her booklist. As it is, I both listen to and read one of her books a month, and that isn’t fast enough. She gives so much to her story and characterization that, when you finish one of her stories, you feel as though she hasn’t left any story piece unturned. Over and over again, she shows you that her heroes ADORE their heroines, and they l

Chloe and Judge first met under rather hostile conditions. He made a snarky comment he shouldn't have, and she wouldn't let it go even after he apologized more than once. Judge is intrigued even as he's taken aback at how doggedly stubborn she's being about the whole thing. But as he finds out, she's the daughter of a famous actress and a famous tennis player so she's already quite the famous character in h

It has been a couple of years since I have delved into KA's world - work, life, study, so many books, all have gotten into the way,

However the chance to dive in at the start of a new series was an opportunity I couldn't give up.

Now, I know that Ms Ashley's writing is not for everyone. I like it (even if sometimes it is overly verbous and descriptive, and could be chopped down a little bit).

I did find the first of the story did drag, and I didn't really like anyon

Anytime Kristen Ashley introduces a brand-new series, I cannot wait to meet the characters and world she created, and book one in her new River Rain series doesn’t disappoint.

Judge is such a good man - one who holds to his convictions and does what he think is best, regardless of what those around him say about it. He gives so much of himself to other people and works hard to make a difference in people’s lives and that’s an honorable goal. He clearly loves a challenge, which is a good thing si

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends a

“Somehow, this world is careening toward being a place where there are no consequences. You throw some comment out on social media to some person you don’t know and will never meet, shady or critical or downright cruel, and you just go on with your life. Not realizing there are real people out there who suffer because you couldn’t just scroll on by, you had to lay out the nasty. There are absolutely no consequences to millions of people every day spreading a layer of negativity, or even hyper-negativity over something a vast majority of us use. That festers and breeds and it’s filtering into real life. Where we think people in our spheres don’t have feelings. That the world revolves around us and our opinions. But it does not.” 0 likes
