From the wicked world of "Catatonic" comes a new story—one revolving entirely around the twisted tales of the bloodthirsty serial killer known as Switch.

Split into two tantalizing parts, "Switch" explores the series of events leading up to his imprisonment at Stillwater Sanitarium, as well as a continuation of his story thereafter. Only this time, the limits will be tested, the bars will be raised.

There is no censor when it comes to the mastermind of murder himself.

"Switch" defies the odds of standard sequels by incorporating a prequel in the first half. Although the timeline is technically Part One (Pre-Stillwater), "Catatonic", and then Part Two (Post-Stillwater), the book can be read straight through as if it were a stand-alone novel. Between both parts there is an Interlude, which covers the events that transpired in "Catatonic".

DiCarlo's writing only improved in this prequel/sequel combo to Catatonic, her first novel. Through two parts, we follow the titular Switch through the events leading up to his incarceration at Stillwater sanitorium, to what happens after the events of Catatonic. I read this book in 3 days, I couldn't put it down. While this book is wholly about Switch, we mostly hear about him from the women in his life - friends, accomplices, etc. This puts him in an interesting light, one I haven't read before, but I noticed this in Catatonic as well. I found it wholly interesting and I always wanted to know more about him - his upbringing, his thoughts, everything. I grew to love and care for him just as one of the central characters in this book does. I feel satisfied with the end of Switch's story, and I feel thankful for the time I got to spend with him. This series is one I will happily be revisiting in due time.

You could technically read part 1 of Switch, then Catatonic, then part 2 of Switch, but I personally liked reading all of Catatonic and then all of Switch - the mystery of some of what happened in Catatonic answered in Switch made me want to continue reading more.

I look forward to more of DiCarlo's writing.

This was such an amazing book! I literally could not put it down. 10/10 would recommend. Catatonic quickly became one of my favorite books so when I heard there was going to be a prequel/sequel I was so excited! It gives you such a great look into the life of Switch and you get more answers to questions you had from Catatonic. Everything about this book was absolutely amazing. There was the perfect amount of description, plot twists, humor, sadness, and happiness. This book brought out so many emotions and I loved absolutely everything about it.

Such a beautiful story! This is the prequel/sequel of Catatonic so, if you haven't already, go read the first book!

The first part shows Switch's story, pre-Stillwater. I appreciated the fact that the author took the time to let us know what happened to him and how he got there. This way I got to know more about him. It gave so much more depth to the character. The descriptions are simply... perfect. I love her writing style a lot.

The second part was just... amazing. I can't say much (no SPOILERS) but I loved the ending. I was really sad when I got to the last page of this book.

Thank you Alyssa for this story, I'll miss these characters a lot.

So good! Impossible to put down! You feel like you know these characters; you fall in love with them and their world. I'm so sad that this is the final installment, I would read a thousand books about Switch and Stillwater.

This was a great beginning and end to the life of switch. I love you we had a little introduction of a character that was touched on in the previous book. The writing is so beautifully done that you feel like you are living part of the adventure in the book. Definitely a must read! I hated every time I had to put the book down!
