I normally save this for the end of my review but it needs highlight and focus so …
this sexy swoony cover is #winning
and it delivered in the story! Talk about making a reader deliriously happy! Yes, yes it did!! LOL
Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. This story was fantastic on all levels! Carter and Presley knew each other when they were young. At the time, their circles were far apart but today, today is whole other matter. Today, Presley is still among the same circle but Carter has created a whole new circle for himself as a self-made millionaire, and now you could say they were in the same circle. These two had friction from the very beginning but it was deliciously sexy and swoony and ridiculously entertaining at times! The choices the author made with these characters were realistic and relatable. The choices she made in plot points for this story were perfectly connected and every single one had a purpose. Not a single thing was over the top, unless you count the comic relief from Willa (GAH, I need that woman in my life!), and had a purpose that enhanced the story.
You guys, this story was all the things! It was exciting from beginning to end. It was romantic and sexy and humorous with a captivating storyline and will fill your heart with giddiness. I’ve only read one other book by this author and it blew me away and now I can add another! No matter what, I’m digging into her backlist and making sure C.M. Albert is on my radar moving forward! Mister Stand-In was my first read from C.M. Albert, and what an introduction it was!! It didn't take long to fall in love with her words, and her characters are AWEMAZING!! Carter and Presley used to know each other when they were younger, now 12 years have gone by and Carter and Presley are in each others sights and because of what Carter does he thinks he has Presley pegged as a rich spoiled brat...Presley just doesn't want to acknowledge Carters presence, she does happen to notice how freakin' hot Carter is now, and she thought he was pretty hot at 17. Apparently Carter likes what he sees too. They spend some time together and the chemistry and banter between them is GOLD!! Will they be able to make things work as adults, or will Presley's greatest fear come to fruition that Carter will get bored...guess you'll just have to read this awesome book and find out!! And by the way...Carter is MINE!!! LOL

This book was my first read by this author, and I definitely need to read more cause it was an amazing book! I literally was sucked right into this book and the characters and I just loved it! Carter and Presley knew each other when they were younger and now 12 years later they meet back up again. Now years later they both like what they see with each other but neither wants to admit it first, they both seemed to think alot about each other when they were kids as well so that definitely adds to things when they meet up again as adults. The real question is now that they are adults are they able to make something work between them or not? You will just have to read this book to find out!

What I love about the Cocky Hero Club series of books is that you get introduced to so many new-to-you authors. This is my first time reading C.M. Albert and it certainly won’t be the last. Mister Stand-In pulls you in from the start with this second chance romance which includes a compelling bit of mystery as well. This romance is scorching hot from the start with incredible chemistry from characters Presley and Carter.

Albert’s Mister Stand-In, Presley Kincaid and Carter Wright knew each other when they were young but she was the spoiled thirteen-year-old brat who followed him around while she was on vacation and he was the seventeen-year-old property manager’s son who dreamed of escaping The Grove. She asked him for her first kiss and he refused. He had a crush on her step-mom.
Years later he’s made his money as “Mister Stand-In”, standing in for the rich and successful and Presley’s step-mom’s new husband at her rehearsal dinner. Presley is a beautiful woman who gets under Carter’s skin quickly. She’s a writer for a financial magazine and is assigned to write a feature story about Carter. Can they keep things professional? Another great addition to the Cocky Hero Club and another new author for me, One of my favourite things about this series is finding new authors and after reading Mister Stand-In, I’m left wondering why C.M. Albert has not crossed my radar before now.
Carter and Presley grew up together but they went their seperate ways now 12 years later that meet up again but Carter still see’s her as the rich spoiled kid she was all this years ago but when they spend time together they both realise how they have both changed so will this couple get a second chance at love, fate works in mysterious ways so is fate giving them another chance to get to know each other..
Presley and Carter’s story captivated me from the first page to the last line, it’s a love story that ticked all my boxes, the chemistry is sizzling, the banter is witty, the characters are easy to relate too and it’s a fun, flirty, entertaining read. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Mister Stand-In had me hooked right from the very start and this author drew me in with her words and story with no chance of escape. Carter and Presley knew each other in the past and more than ten years on, they both like what they see. This story unfolds giving you glimpses of the in depth parts as you take the journey with these characters, finally giving you all the answers later in the book. Their story is steamy, flirty and packed with drama and emotion. Their story is definitely not predictable and has you seeing the real person behind the mask as the real Carter is revealed. A book that immersed itself perfectly in the Cocky Hero World and will leave you with a book that ticked each and every box.

This story has layers—but the reader isn’t really privy to the more meaningful ones until the final third of the story. Carter Wright grew up as the son of the caretaker for a luxury resort. As such, he was looked down upon by the locals, and that shaped his character, priorities, and work ethic. Over the years, wealthy families would stay at this resort. One of those returning families included a little girl named Presley Kincaid, who was a few years younger than Carter, but who still had a huge crush on him. They lose touch after her father dies, until her stepmother needs a stand-in for her fiancé during her rehearsal dinner, and hires Carter for the job. It turns out that Carter has found his calling as a stand-in for wealthy clients who don’t want to attend an event solo. He is intrigued when he finally recognizes a grown-up Presley.
There are so many facets to this story. Expect a few surprises along with some smoking hot scenes between Presley and Carter. The pace accelerates during the latter half of the book, as does the tension. The relationships and friendships that the reader gets to observe while reading, are often delightful and feel authentic. These are the kind of friends everyone wants to have in their life! There is a lot of sex in the book, so be prepared with some AC. There is also a lot of heart and a lot of growth within each protagonist over the course of the book.

Just finished reading Mister Stand-in absolutely loved this book. C.M Albert has a way with words that she draws her readers into her books. The story is about Carter Wright and Presley Kincaid, She had a crush on him when she was 13 but he was 18 at the Beach house where her family went every summer and Carter’s dad managed the property. They both went on with there lives until they met again many years later . They developed some chemistry and Sparks between them and they both had feelings for each other, but then something happened and Presley didn’t really know if she could trust Carter.
There is a lot of very Hot sex in this book, this is my 7th book that I have read of C.M. Albert and she never disappoints me with her books , They are just so good. 4 Stars ⭐️ I totally recommend this book , it is part of The Cocky Hero Club

Swoon worthy! PHENOMENAL!!
OMG!!! I could not put this book down. Presley had such a crush on Carter when they were younger but he broke her heart back then. Years later he's standing in for Presley's step mom at her wedding rehearsal. Presley receives the project to interview Carter since he's a millionaire before 30. When these two finally hook up for the first time it's explosive. The chemistry between these two is so strong. I loved the banter back and forth. If you love a book that will make you laugh, burn your fingers from the hot chemistry between two characters, and keep you hooked from page one than this is a must read for you. This is the first book I've read from this author and it was AMAZING!! What are you waiting for? Hurry!!! I bet you'll be giving it a 5 star rating as well.

I absolutely loved this book by C.M Albert who was a new author to me. I loved Presley and Carter’s story. Their chemistry was so hot, sexy and very flirty. I was hooked from the start and I couldn’t put it down. This book is part of The Cocky Hero Club but can be read as a standalone, I received this book as an arc for my honest opinion.

Well Hello Carter and Presley, I see you. This is a beautifully steamy story. Carter hasn’t seen Presley in over ten years, and he can’t believe what he’s seeing. Presley had a crush on Carter for years, and is shocked when she sees him at her stepmom’s rehearsal dinner.
These two have history, but they also have a present and a future. C.M. Albert did a phenomenal job giving these characters depth and making them real. She also sucks you into this story and makes you want to stay.
This story has a little bit of everything and you will love it all!

He works as a stand-in for those in need of support to get through an event. A date on the red carpet, a companion at a party, a friend at a graduation – he is your man. His good looks and charismatic personality make him attractive as arm candy, and his way with people sets his clients at ease as he helps successfully steer them through a stressful event. He keeps things professional. There is a strict rule that he has always abides by: he does not sleep with his clients.
Presley Kincaid, twenty-five, works as a journalist for the Finance Times. She put all her focus on academics and social causes in college, which meant that she hadn’t much experience in the relationship department. Her focus now is on getting her career off to a good start, and although that might be a good excuse for not having a man in her life, the truth is that nobody has particularly captured her interest. She inherited her father’s vast fortune when he died roughly twelve years ago. With her mother already gone, that leaves her today with only her stepmother, Lauren Kincaid. Carter knew Presley as a little brat that had been much too young for him to consider, and besides, at the time he had a teenage crush on Lauren. But when the two come together as adults twelve years later, the excuses that separated them before are no longer valid and their chemistry in off the charts. But while Carter feels he doesn’t deserve Presley, Presley feels she isn’t enough to please him. The past is an obstacle that both must tackle if they are to have a real chance together. But there are other complications and forces at play that will challenge the couple before they earn their happy ending.
Carter and Presley make up for lost time in this steamy second chance story! Just when it seems like it might be smooth sailing, though, the plot thickens in unexpected ways. Carter is absolutely adorable – and dog lovers will love his character. He is soft and emotional behind his strong playboy image. He sometimes comes across as arrogant, but it is mostly just confidence. Presley as a child was a brat, but as an adult she can act a little bratty, too. Yet underneath her antics is a kind-hearted girl who grew into a woman who cares deeply about social causes. Their story is combines romance and a bit of mystery as Presley investigates the past while writing an article. The couple’s banter is great at the beginning, when they are still at the flirting stage.
Carter and Presley’s sweet and steamy story brings together childhood acquaintances for a second chance at love. It is nicely written. There are a few small spots that are a little repetitive. The plot is fairly simple until the last part of the book, when it goes in an unexpected direction. It feels like it slows down a little at that point. The characters are nicely developed. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Carter and Presley. I rate this book four stars.

She inherited her father’s vast fortune when he died roughly twelve years ago. With her mother already gone, that leaves her today with only her stepmother, Lauren Kincaid. Lauren had been much younger than her father, but her love and devotion to their family was unquestioned. Presley still depends upon her kindness and advice, even as Lauren prepares to remarry.
When Lauren hires Presley’s childhood crush to be a stand-in at her wedding rehearsal, Carter and Presley come face to face for the first time in twelve years. The Kincaids had vacationed at The Grove for years until Mr. Kincaid’s passing, and Presley had hoped that her first kiss might come from Carter. Carter knew Presley as a little brat that had been much too young for him to consider, and besides, at the time he had a teenage crush on Lauren. But when the two come together as adults twelve years later, the excuses that separated them before are no longer valid and their chemistry in off the charts. But while Carter feels he doesn’t deserve Presley, Presley feels she isn’t enough to please him. The past is an obstacle that both must tackle if they are to have a real chance together. But there are other complications and forces at play that will challenge the couple before they earn their happy ending.
Carter and Presley make up for lost time in this steamy second chance story! Just when it seems like it might be smooth sailing, though, the plot thickens in unexpected ways. Carter is absolutely adorable – and dog lovers will love his character. He is soft and emotional behind his strong playboy image. He sometimes comes across as arrogant, but it is mostly just confidence. Presley as a child was a brat, but as an adult she can act a little bratty, too. Yet underneath her antics is a kind-hearted girl who grew into a woman who cares deeply about social causes. Their story is combines romance and a bit of mystery as Presley investigates the past while writing an article. The couple’s banter is great at the beginning, when they are still at the flirting stage.
Carter and Presley’s sweet and steamy story brings together childhood acquaintances for a second chance at love. It is nicely written. There are a few small spots that are a little repetitive. The plot is fairly simple until the last part of the book, when it goes in an unexpected direction. It feels like it slows down a little at that point. The characters are nicely developed. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Carter and Presley. I rate this book four stars.

Carter and Presley's story was a delight to read. The perfect amount of banter, steamy chemistry, a little intrigue and suspense kept me engrossed in the book and made for a quick read. This is another great addition to the Cocky Hero Club world.

What an incredible addition to the CHC! It may not be your typical kind of romance but it definitely has the filthy, flirty, and fun throughout the book!
A slight sort of love/crush triangle and a choice between a mother and daughter, but its not super taboo. Nothing down right dirty . . . And to be honest, heck, who hasn't fantasized about an older man and then lusted for their hot young son. . . Its all just fantasy, so let it go and enjoy the ride!
Carter's story, when you finally get to it, pulls your heart strings. I am one for any man in military, seriously tell me he thought about joining and I'm all in. Maybe its a bit biased, but I don't care. That's my thing! You don't get a whole bunch of Carter's background and thats OK, because he literally is the perfect Stamd-in for any situation!
The real story that drew me in was really about Presley. Being that nerdy little clingy girl with a crush, growing up and still so naive, and then transitioning into a strong go get 'em woman! Yes!!! Presley was the stand out for me!

When it comes to love and relationships I was losing my faith in the happiness of being in love. But when I had the chance to read Mister Stand-In by C.M Albert it made me feel that can be real if you meet the right person who knows how to treat you right! I have always said that she writes books for the everyday women and she truly does. If you like hot and steamy romance she does not hold back! I love the unfiltered passion between Carter and Presley! I love the fact that Carter takes the time to make love to her and show her besides herself her true passion and satisfaction.
I feel it is important for women to know that when it comes to romance and sexual desire it is about dual pleasure and trusting the man that you are sleeping with. One the main tropes that stood out to me in this book is the rags to riches with second chance thrown in. At first Carter did cancel Presley because she was younger than him. But when they see each other at her stepmother's wedding it goes to show ladies that when a guy does not give you chance make sure yourself even better.
Overall, if you are looking for a more mature version of Sex In The City with a hidden of Dallas soap opera flavor this is the book for you! Even the secondary protagonists such a Willa, Bianca, Dex, and Mr. Bob are so full of flavor and you will relate to them right away! Overall, it was excellent read that will make rethink about the importance of humanitarianism and when you pay your dues good things can happen to you! Will Carter and Presley get together? You will have to read it to find out!

His rise to fame afforded him the opportunity to enter the world of the elite as arm candy with his one rule of never sleeping with his clients. Presley, aka Miss Moneybags, is a young woman who works for the Financial Times and has had a crush on Carter since she was thirteen. Not one who has much experience with the opposite sex, her focus was on her studies and career when her stepmother Lauren suggests that she may meet someone at her up and coming nuptials. Fast forward twelve years, and Carter comes into contact with Presley when he is called to act as a stand-in for Lauren’s intended. He is unable to believe how much she has changed and the chemistry between them is off the charts. Can Carter get past his feelings of worthiness and go after Presley? I love discovering new authors and falling for their stories. Mister Stand-In is not only a great addition to the Cocky Hero Club but a captivating read that left me wanting to read more books by C.M. Albert.

He is smart, good looking, and charming. Presley Kincaid is focused on her career and it's a far cry from the spoiled rich and naive girl she used to be when she was a kid.

Mister Stand0-In is another fantastic addition to the Cocky Hero Club, and man, it came off very unique. Carter's family took care of the resort that Presley & her family came to every summer, and she followed him around because of her crush on him. As she grew up that crush never left, and she was rejected by him since he had a crush on her step-mom. That part wasn't my favorite because gross, but there's so much more to this story. Carter is hired to become Presley's step-mom's stand-in for the rehearsal dinner, and they come face to face again. Carter ends up being paired up with Presley at the wedding, and some serious chemistry really gets going. He's always thought Presley was a spoiled rich girl, but he learns there is more than meets the eye which is when the fun really begins. This story started out a tad slow for me, but it hit its stride quickly and I never looked back. So that's all from me, now y'all just need to hit those one click buttons. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

These characters! It was hard not to love them and just as difficult to remember that they weren’t real! Just for a hot minute I thought they wouldn’t get their HEA. But secrets revealed and discoveries of the heart prevail.

As soon as I read the blurb for this story I was instantly intrigued. This was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed their style of writing. I found their writing really pulls you into the story. The romance and chemistry between the two main characters is hot. These two characters I really enjoyed together.
Presley always had a thing for Carter and the attraction she had for him was undeniable. Carter saw Presley as a spoiled rich girl but she was different then what he perceived. She was a strong and caring character.
Carter story really intrigued me and really pulled at my heartstrings. He was really the perfect stand in and went above and beyond for his job.

I just enjoy these books inspired from the Cocky Series. This was a 4,5 star entertaining and fun story.
Presley had a major crush on Carter when she was younger. Now years later they meet again in an untraditional and unique way.
This story was entertaining and very fun. It took me a couple chapters to really get in and get hooked. But after I devoured it. They had some major chemistry going on. A great storyline that flowed well. Bottomline this is a must read.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I highly recommend this story.

This is a new author to me, and I will certainly be looking out for her work in the future. This story is a wonderful addition to this amazing series and is Carter and Presley’s story. These two grew up together until they went their separate ways, and now 12-years later they meet again. Carter has a preconceived notion that Presley is a wealthy little spoilt girl, whereas she thinks he is ever hotter than he was when he was younger. The chemistry between these two is combustible. This is a well written flawless story which is filled with witty and flirty banter, and is a fun, humorous, entertaining, and a great 2nd chance romance. I was hooked throughout this riveting page turner, and I highly recommend for all readers.
