I’ve never been one to follow suit, yet here I am in a casino town run by vampires working as a supernatural agent. Apparently I’ve traded mountains for molehills because hunting demons is like a deadly game of whack-of-mole. On top of everything else, I’m still figuring out my magical abilities and how I fit in with the rest of the Pride. They’ve had years of elite training, while I’ve had trial by fire and can still feel the burn. Then there’s the sexy and powerful Saxon with his brooding stare and air of mystery. The fact that he’s forbidden fruit only makes me want to pluck him more.
The more I learn, the more questions I have. The only problem is nobody’s showing their hand and I don’t want to kick down doors that might best be left shut. Not yet anyway.
Oh, and there’s a demon on the loose intent on mass destruction.
With life as we know it on the line, the stakes have never been higher.

I am genuinely trying to put my finger on why this series isn't quite doing it for me, despite containing a bunch of elements that I love and being written by an author I have good experiences with. There's something that just isn't clicking about the worldbuilding, keeping me from really being immersed.
Entertaining urban fantasy series. Great cast of characters and an extraordinary storyline. 30 years ago the world changed. A pocket dimension of long ago locked away demons has escaped back to earth. Many of the humans on earth were killed in the process. It forced supernaturals living among us out into the open and to fight along with us to stop these demons. Now the world is change supernatural or in the open. There are still many of these demons around. A special group supernaturals called Pandoras pride go out and fight to stop and destroy these demons and their plots to take over and destroy the world. Extraordinarily action packed and entertaining. Check it out
Man oh man! Callie has a lot on her plate. She’s discovering so many things about herself and her past. There’s so many secrets. There’s so many things she loves and yet so much she really doesn’t like or trust. She is really becoming a part of the group with the pride and I’ve definitely fallen in love with the rest of the crew. I have so many questions about the leaders. And yet I love the vampires lol. Usually they aren’t my faves but I’ve decided in this style- they’re the cool kids. And now there’s more. Callie is stuck between finding out everything about her father and keeping up with the crew and their needs. I can’t say how much I love this series enough!!!!
The good: The world in this story is interesting as is the main plot. There are a lot of mysteries and I can't wait to find out what she really is, why her father hid her, and what shady shit pride is keeping from her. I like the protagonist as well as the other team mates & companions. I felt their was definitely some development with her relationship with Evadne and Tate. I'd like to see more growth and character development with Liam and Saxxon.
The meh: This writer has a consistent habit of writing adult characters acting way more like teenagers than adults. The dialog between teammates often feels like teen titans instead of avengers.
Book two of the series begins where book one left off... Callie is now working with Pandora’s Pride to stop the plague demons from causing mass destruction. In the meantime, she has started to learn a lot more about what she can do, but even then, she can be surprised.
This second book is just as fast paced and action packed as the first. An enjoyable journey into an imaginative world, it makes for fun reading when you’re looking for escapism. Recommend for urban fantasy fans.
Calandra…Harmony…Evadne…witches, and warlocks, and demons - oh my!
A simple start: two women fighting ( sorry, no mud pit, though) to prove…what? Evadne is so insecure that she challenges everyone?
Then Harmony is terminated with no forwarding address, as far as the pride knows; and the information she was digging into with her. And then, when she risks contact with Callie, that implodes. Really?🙄
My least favorite character is Liam - total waste of page for me.
I do want to know about Callie though, so will press on.
I barely gave this three stars. The absolute cluster eff of revolving pronouns made this a confusing read and I’m not so enamored with the employ to put in the effort. Characters that are female suddenly and randomly have a male pronoun assigned so you have to go back and re-read to make sure what’s going on. She suddenly becoming and I. Well, you get what I mean. I noticed it in the first book but thought by the second, an editor would have stepped in. Not so much.
As Callie settles into a new life in Atlantica City working with Pandora's Pride to overcome the demons still active she's trying to find out more about her father's murderer.. now she's got a new worry as Harmony secretly tells her that she is 100% human not mage at all.. when Harmony is fired Callie wants to know why but none of the council seems willing to say and then another demon starts causing trouble and it's all hands on deck.
A solid follow-up to Book 1, this one involves more training for Callie and another adventure with her team to stop a powerful demon from being released from an amulet. We get a little more information revealed about her powers and her past, and some secrets about her father. Again, the action is edge-of-your-seat, fast-paced, and engaging.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited and used T2S text-to-speech app for audio.
I haven't read a series this good in awhile. Granted, I love all of her books (and other authors), this series so far is straight pulling me in to the point where I'm hiding and reading it in the bathroom at 3am lol. I can't wait to find out what's going on and what Callie really is.
I'm throughly enjoying this series. There's a little romance, a lot of sarcasm, even some laughs thrown in. Callie is a mystery, both her past and her genetic makeup. You can't help but keep reading to find out more. Her mysteries are above and beyond what she and the rest of them team have to solve in their job. It all makes for a great story.
This series just keeps getting better! Callie is such a brash young heroine. She's slowly getting answers about her father and the all the questions that have come up regarding her heritage. The addition of a top notch storyline and characters that feel real takes this urban fantasy to the next level. I can't to for the next book in this series!
I enjoyed this book, but it felt like the author was stalling out on us. I didn’t learn much about Callie’s powers, and it wasn’t mentioned again that Harmony said her blood work revealed her to be human. She referred to herself as half mage. I’m hoping number 3 moves this further on because book two was slow for me, but still enjoyable

Callie is still working for the Pride, and the head of the Salt weaseled her into occasional 'super bouncer' duties. Meanwhile, at the Pride they are busy. From a jewel theft to a burned small town, to a discord demon trying to raise an even worse one. The team is hopping all over the country and out of it in this one.
I’m really finding these books a lot more entertaining than I thought they would be. Kelli still trying to find out what’s going on with her life or what happened in her life who killed her father? In the meantime she’s still working for the pride running down demons and falling in love with a halfbreed half angel half vampire.
For some reason I just couldn’t engage with this book. Liam who I believe was supposed to funny wasn’t and his constant jokes were so irritating that I nearly gave up reading it. The book seemed to jump all over the place and I was so confused Callie’s constant eating and Liam not for me. Sadly I won’t be buying the next one.
Another great read. I have a lot of questions about who Callie really is that I hope we start getting some answers to soon. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Callie has learned there are many more secrets to uncover. She is quickly adapting to her new surroundings. It's great to see her stand up for herself against the many who seem to want something from her. I am looking forward to the next book.
A really good read. I liked the cross between mystery and paranormal. I did get frustrated with the huge clue that was laid out for the reader but the characters all missed, but that's a minor thing really.
There's another action-packed adventure for the Pride, but there's also the growing mystery of Callie and her background. Significantly more questions than answer's are revealed for her in this book. I hoped we see more in the next! My curiosity is piqued.
Callie most definitely isn’t just a mage, but she’s obviously not human either. Cassie and her buddies need to stop a discord demon from raising an evil goddess. Do they succeed? Buy the book and find out!
Annabelle Chase is a master of amazing plots! This book has magic, shifters and romance. She elevates all of her characters to a new level. This series is a must read.
2.5 stars. Not bad but not captivating. Don't know why this series isn't better just mediocre and what's not clicking. The book ends with an intriguing enough development (not a cliff hanger) that I will Continue to the next book.
This definitely wasn't as good as the first book, but it did move the story along. We have some new mysteries to solve, and we're still learning about who and what Callie really is. I'm intrigued, so I'm off to read the next one!
High Stakes and Vampires, book two of the Pandora's Pride series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). Smooth segue from book one places the reader into the action right away. This is an awesome, fun series.
As you read you find out more and more shocking discoveries about Callie and Pandora. Things that make you go, what come again and it is not over yet, so off to read the next book.
Just finished book 2 and it was fantastic. I love the slow reveal of Callies history and the dynamic of the Pride. Can't wait for book 3 and highly recommend.
