This book surprised me- in a good way!
At around 9pm last night my heart/brain/whatever decided I was in the mood for a light read with a cute romance, preferably with high school shenanigans, and I somehow ended up on this book!
I don't usually read novellas or shorter books because I'd prefer to get lost in a book for hours, and I don't want insta-love but I also want there to be deeper feelings involved in the relationship. Fortunately, I didn't know that this was a novella going into it ...more

This was a fun, quick read that hit a lot of cliche tropes, but did it well. If you enjoyed The Code for Love and Heartbreak, then this is definitely one to check out!
I really like the two main characters in this story, Zach and Anna. They complimented each other and made this story interesting. I love cliche tropes and storylines and this was certainly one of the better stories with them.
I thought Zach was going to be the stereotypical bad-turned-good, but he was actually someone else. He had ...more

Funny, adorkable, sweet, and swoon-worthy!
Hey, Anna?
She looked up. Yes?
Did you study up before you came here today?
She nodded. I did.
I stared at her for a long moment, not sure whether to laugh or hug her. I mean Shed studied.
Shed studied cars.
For a fake date.
I adored Anna and all her insecurites and foibles, and the above exchange kind of illustrates the kind of person she is quite beautifully. Zach is a great guy hiding behind his slacker image, and while he may not be perfect, he's perfect ...more

(4.5 stars) - Fun new series premise!
Six high school juniors have to do a psychology class project that proves or disproves whether or not love can be quantified. They decide to test a popular dating app (from Dallen's "Tall Dark & Nerdy", which is not necessary to read for this, but is a fun read in its own right!)
Each of the 3 couples gets their own novella to tell their story, with the final one pulling it all together & wrapping it up.

I read this series because I was in the mood for a sweet YA story for a change. That is what I got but was a little disappointed but the shallow conforming nature of the these books. On the surface they were clean sweet stories. But if you look under you see the same overused pattern that is plaguing new adult novels right now. I hate to say it but I really expected more from this author. All three stories feature the innocent young girl who has yet to receive her first kiss. Two of them were

Introverted, scholarly Anna has never dated because she is a very serious student who is on track to become valedictorian next year. She refuses to get less than an A in any of her classes, including psychology.
Her fellow junior, Zach, is someone Anna has seen around her school for years, but she knows nothing about him personally other than his reputation as a slacker. In reality, however, though Zach may not be college bound, he's a ...more

I just can't. I had to stop halfway (not that 5/10 chapters is that much anyway), because.... well I can't even describe it.
- Anna describes herself as someone who hasn't yet gone though puberty, which 1) is just a weird phrasing 2) the actual truth or 3) is the fault of the authors weird writing style. All of this would be fine if it wasn't for the fact that the main love interest Zack has had sex multiple times with the local mean girl, which separately would also be fine.... but these 2 facts ...more

OMG this was really, really cute! I loved it! I loved Zach (well, not from the beginning, but just as their first meeting in the library ended, I was already halfway crushing on him). He was really sweet, and so damn hot. Zach and Anna had such good chemistry. I loved their dates. And loved their kisses. And that scene when Zach went at her house unannounced to talk with Anna? That damn reminded me of Johnny in Dirty Dancing. And I wasn't the only one thinking that! Anna did too. For real, the

Absolutely love Maggie Dallens sweet short read. Anna and her class are grouped together to prove whether or not the Love Quiz app really can find love or not. Anna and Zack are paired together as complete opposites to try and fool the app but the more time they spend together the more they learn there is more to the other. Will there relationship ship go from fake to real. Anna and Zach are too cute together. Adorable sweet read with an HEA.

-Our date? he said. I blinked. Umwhat? Oh right.
Yes, our date, I said, saying the stupid word with all the maturity I could muster. Dates. No big whoop. People dated all the time. Id never had a real date, but that didnt make this a big deal or anything. Nope. Because this wasnt real. It was only for a grade.-
Anna is socially awkward, mature and intelligent beyond her years. Zach has tattoos, cares more about cars than school, and has a reputation as a bad boy. The two of them are polar ...more

I love all of Maggie Dallens books, but especially those that star a high school nerd girl. Its cause this author gets into the thoughts and feelings of nerd girls so perfectly. How do I know this? Because I was one. At l sat as much as Anna in this book, so I can totally identify with her (though I did run so thats one minor difference). How she finds true love with apparent slacker but in reality literature reading car crazy mechanic to be Zach? Perfection. Real feelings. Great story telling.

Short and Intense. This is a quick read at just over 100 pages, solid "fake dating" HS romance set in the world of Tall, Dark, and Nerdy and spinning off a new short trilogy where a group of kids try to prove the Love Quiz app is bogus. Here, we get the setup and the first couple - the couple that the app should never match, but that the experiment tries to force the app to match. Short and fun in a Hallmark Movie kind of way, this is an excellent quick distraction from the "real" world. Very

Very sweet!
I think the best word I could use to describe this book is precious. Zach and Anna are just too cute. Zach is an intimidating school "slacker" while Anna is an awkward nerd. Both are somewhat outcasts--Anna to a greater degree. They are seemingly opposites but find that they have more in common than they think and are actually well-suited to each other. The characterization is great. For a novella, there is good depth and feeling and difficult conflict, while still being sweet and ...more

Just blah
Not a great book. Nothing particularly bad about it, just over all not very good. There was no character development, and the characters just sort of went from not liking each other to liking each other without any real emotional development. Everybody was a bit melodramatic over basically nothing happening. Everything was stiff and nothing felt natural. My favorite part was the female lead who is incredibly awkward. Her conversations were the best parts of the book.

Doesn't every sweet nerdy girl have a fantasy about the high school bad boy? Well not Anna, but when her and Zach are part of a psychology class social experiment it was uncomfortable for the both of them at the start. But they learn that there is more to each other than meets the eye.
This is loosely tied to the Tall, dark and Nerdy series, but you if you haven't read that it's ok. Well it's not but only because it's really good.. I can't wait for the next novels in this series!

Maggie Dallen is a great YA author and this is the first of three stories about a group of three couples using themselves to test an assignment by their teacher about whether love can be quantified. This book is full of teen angst about grades, family embarrassments, and peer pressure. But also induces giggles and snorts. You'll love Dallen's style and want to read the other stories which release one week apart.
This story is magnetic and I loved it. It's loosely related to another book by this author in which the MC creates an app that predicts your perfect match so it was interesting to see the reactions of these teens to the app. In the other book, we only see people loving it and the reaction of the creator, so it was cool to see other reactions and more of how it works. I really enjoyed this book and loved how Zach and Anna interacted. Short, sweet, and definitely worth the read!
Short and sweet
This was a nice short read. I was kind of put off by the ages of the characters - I found myself wishing they were in college and in their 20s (at least) as it felt a little awkward to read a book about characters so young. I feel like I would have loved this book if I had read it when I was 15-17. And again, it really was quite a short book, whereas I prefer slow burn books and really just more lengthy books in general. ...more

Great read. I love Ms Dallen's writing style and wit.
The plot revolves around a dating app and a school project. The first couple are the most unlikely pairing - the bad boy and the geek. Zach and Anna start fake dating for the project. How will it end?
Sweet high school romance.
I received an ARC copy of this book.

This was a pretty quick read. I was totally like Anna in high school (except I had friends and did not get my first kiss) so I related well with her character. I enjoyed reading a high school book which did not involve the cliche cliques which most books set in high school feel the need to include. Contains: mild language and kisses
It was such a pleasure to read. The book talk about how it so easy to judge someone by their appareance and put them in a label box such like a nerd and a dumb. but what is so surprising when they start to date for their school project to actually found many things they have in common or some character trait that they both like in eachother.
Heart warming
A heart warming perspective about how looks only say so much and the importance of getting to know people. The characters were relatable and it was easy to understand the reason behind their actions. The drama near the end seemed forced and part of the typical rom com boy meets girl boy loses girl boy wins girl back plot.

This was better than I thought it would be. It was cute, they had good chemistry. Didnt realize it was a novella until the end. I couldve kept reading about them, but Im excited to read about the other couples in the group
