“There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't yet met.” -- William Butler Yeats

There's just something about the words "lakeside resort" that automatically makes you feel all cozy on the inside. Whether you just imagine it, or actually experience the quiet natural beauty and wonder of both flora and fauna, the warmth of the sun, and the peaceful lapping of the water, it serenely relaxes and rejuvenates mind and body. This lovely novella accomplishes the same thing in its own quiet and charming way.

It’s not just the charming setting, but Jenny’s genuine friends, harmonious family, and the kind and helpful guests that all seamlessly blend together to make The Lakeside Resort a cozy destination. With Christmas preparations underway, everyone pulls together to make the resort a friendly, festive, and fun holiday gathering place. As you imagine yourself right in the midst, and as each holiday tradition falls into place, the resort becomes even cozier and more enchanting.

This feel good read makes you long to be a part of such a cozy retreat, creating new holiday traditions, and enjoying new friendships. You’ll find yourself looking online to see if this fictional Lakeside Resort just might really exist so you can book a holiday getaway and experience first-hand the comfortable joys of the Christmas season. Even if you can’t relax and enjoy the season at Heron Lake, reading about Jenny’s success and happiness in this new chapter of her life will leave you desiring to create your own cozy corner and pursue your passions whatever they may be.

I don't usually read Christmas books and I rarely read novellas but since I enjoyed the first two books in this series, it was a no-brainer to read this one too. And I'm glad that I did. It was great to go back to the Lakeside Resort and catch up with Jenny and her friends - both human and animal.

Jenny is in her early 40s. She owns a small campground and is struggling with her finances and knows that she needs to keep her cabins rented over the Christmas holiday. She really isn't in a holiday mood but knows that she needs to come up with some great holiday plans to keep her cabins rented. She's also very unsettled about making plans for her wedding to Luke. So she gets together with her mom and her best friend to make plans for Christmas - she wants a Santa Claus, a horse drawn sleigh and Christmas carols but how is she going to make it all happen in such a short period of time?

I highly recommend this series - it's a fun series with well-written characters that you'll come to love. It also has a main character over 40 which is something you don't see often enough. The series is full of fun and adventure, problems and solutions, love and friendship and happily ever after endings for everyone. It's a perfect series to read during the busy lives we all have during the Christmas season. I'm looking forward to book 4 due to be published in June, 2020 because I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters yet.

Thanks to the author for a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Jenny has been worrying about the upcoming Christmas season at the Lakeside Resort. In the past, she has had some events and themes at the resort that have been successful, now she has to come up with something fresh and fun to fill up the cabins for the holidays. Her trusty friends and family are there to help her execute her plans. And so is her fiance, Luke.

I squealed when I saw that this book was available because I love this series so much AND because I thought the next full-length installment wouldn't be out until the spring of next year. This is a novella-length story, so it was perfect for me to start out my holiday reading. I bought and read it the second I knew it existed.

I love the Lakeside Resort, and I love reading about the goings-on and the improvements that Jenny continues to make. She seems like a person that I could know from my small community. She is even-tempered, and she sets goals and does her best to make them work. She is self-taught in her small business. Her friends and family are so great. Every character is relatable. And the setting of the Lakeside Resort is fun to read.

I really like Jenny and Luke, and I am excited for their upcoming wedding-hopefully in the next installment. These two have had a nice, slowly developing relationship that is fun and respectful and just really nice to read. I can't wait for more from this series.

I loved everything about this book and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Started this book last night and I️ just had to finish this book before I could try and go to sleep! I started and finished this book in just a few hours . The characters as always grabbed me and sucked me in. Buddy, Bear ,( Jenny's two rescue dogs ) and Levi her miniature horse make the story so much better. You can't help but laugh at some of the things they do. I love these 3 so much ! The author has a way of writing that makes me feel like I was part of it all. I love the authors writing style and the fact she describes all of the scenes so well. It was as if i was standing right there with them. All of the characters even the animals are well developed, and the plot is attention grabbing. I fell in love with Lake Heron and LakeSide Resort in book one along with all of the characters. I so wish all of it was real so I could go stay there, pet those adorable babies and set around a campfire with these characters. I loved getting to know Charlotte, Ashe, Alice, Claire and Landis as well. Will Jenny be able to pull off the Christmas she promised ? What about Charlotte and Ashe ? Will they cancel their wedding ? Will Jenny go through with her wedding ? Will Mama and Landis move miles and miles away to their new house and leave lakeside Resort and Jenny ?

The author did yet another amazing job with this story too. I can’t say enough good things about this heartwarming series and
I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Mistletoe at the Lakeside Resort is absolutely the perfect holiday romance story that will keep you delightfully entertained and engrossed with all of the wonderfully touching moments. Even though this is book 3 the author wrote it in a way that can be read as a stand alone. If you are wanting a Sweet, Wonderful Christmas read this one is a great one, highly recommended.. As always if you like the book you read please take the time to leave a review for the author in places like goodreads & Amazon. It does not have to be long. Just a few sentences saying you liked the book will do. Authors really appreciate every review they get !

Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Opinions are unbiased and entirely my own.

4.5 Stars -- Some readers may find the down-home, aw' shucks charm of this series to be completely cheesy, which truth be told. But for some reason, I love all the Southern charm. The bubbly attitudes and love the characters have for one another shine in these pages. Definitely read this book in late October - November. It will put you in the mood for Christmas and snuggling under a cozy blanket ... or read it in July when you are sick of heat and humidity and need that warm fuzzy feeling of the holidays.

This author never fails to deliver a sweet, southern story you'll savor long after you turn the last page.

Mistletoe at the Lakeside Resort dials in on the secondary characters who've played a vivid role in the previous two books in the series. I enjoyed getting to know Charlotte, Alice, Claire, Ashe, and Landis, and of course the pups Buddy and Bear, and the miniature horse, Levi, who thinks he's a people and has his own doggie/horse door.

Ms. Schild paints a lovely scene, the perfect setting for a Christmas story that wraps a warm blanket around the characters I've come to love. I'm certain if the Lakeside Resort did exist, I'd be first in line to book a weekend getaway.

I devoured this book (a short version of her others) and I'm looking forward to Luke & Jenny's wedding in the near future. If you're in the mood for a quick, feel-good Christmas story, this is it. I was given an ARC copy and I'm voluntarily leaving my review.

Get on with it and marry the guy!! I have to wait until June until the last wedding in this series, but I will survive. It is definitely escapist reading, but I’ve enjoyed these books. Schild writes her heroines to be over forty which is very refreshing. They have the same passion and romance that women twenty years younger have, and their life experiences have more to stir into the plot. Everything falls into place a little too easily in this series, but why not? It’s time someone gets the breaks. When money is tight, people rent all right cabins for a week. When Jenny can’t find a hay wagon and horses, her fiancee’s father just happens to know a guy. In this time of quarantine and uncertainty, I loved things turning out well.

Life and love over forty

Mistletoe at the Lakeside Resort is the third book in the Laside Resort series by Susan Schild and it is just as good as the first two. They’re all about finding love and/or a good life after the age of forty. Brave, heartwarming, likable characters. Good stories.

Enjoyable story

Jenny makes plans to create a memorable Christmas experience for her guests. Charlotte and Ashe are getting married. Jenny's mother really wants to stay and not move to the new house being built. Jenny and Luke work through their own pre-wedding issues. I am going to grab number 4 in this series right away.

I started out the year escaping into this delightful series. This is book 3 in which new and inexperienced innkeeper Jenny nervously gets ready for her Christmas guests. She needs a Santa, a horse drawn coach and horses and lots of help pulling it together. In addition to that, she must intervene as her best friend and fiance are not on the same page in planning their wedding. I love the characters in these books and the wholesome simplicity of the writing of this author. I can just enjoy.

Another sweet little story in the Lakeside Resort series.. join the visitors at the Lakeside Resort for another Holiday season.. sounds like a wonderful place to spend some time.

Note: In reading this book, I noticed that the name of the Airstream had mysteriously changed from The Silver Belle to The Silver Bullet.. I tried to scan back and see if there was a reason for this but found none.. am assuming it was an error not caught in the editing process as I am now reading Book #4 and the name is back to The Silver Belle

This is the third book in a wonderful series. I highly recommend checking out the other two books in the series, but this can be read as a stand alone. (If you read the others it will be a more enjoyable

Its a short little holiday story, but perfectly crafted so that everything moved along at a lovely pace. Great for a cozy afternoon indoors.

Jenny is still trying to make a go of her resort and looking for holiday activities to pull in guests, all while suffering a small case of wedding jitters of her own. She sent out a newsletter promising fabulous holiday activities, but she has no clue of what they'll be!

Oh and then there's her bff Charlotte's wedding. There's a particular scene there that will warm your heart as she helps her friend shop for her wedding gown. (No spoilers here, but let's just say, Jenny's a friend we all want to have)

This was a delightful journey through the holiday season, with Jenny and all her friends and family. I can't wait for the next book, which should be Jenny and Luke's wedding! Squee!!

MISTLETOE AT THE LAKESIDE RESORT is the third installment to Susan Schild’s LAKESIDE RESORT series. This is a short Christmas novella which is extremely cozy and heartwarming. Fans will be enthralled with the charming characters of Jenny and Luke in this gentle and romantic story. They are engaged to be married, but things are a little off for Jenny, and she can’t seem to figure what's troubling her. So much needs to be done planning their wedding and honeymoon, and the holidays are fast approaching. Jenny is also trying to figure out how to keep her new business afloat thinking of ways to attract customers to stay at the cabins her father left her on Heron Lake during the holiday season which she and Luke beautifully renovated.

Schild has a warm style of writing and shows the humanness of Jenny’s character. According to USA Today, “Bestselling author Susan Schild writes heartwarming novels about heroines over age forty having adventures, falling in love and finding their happily ever afters”. I’m extremely charmed by her books, and you’ll want to read this cozy series along with her next installment which will be out in June 2020.

This new book by Susan Schild is Book 3 in her Lakeside Resort Series. It's not as long as Books 1 & 2; she calls it a "Christmas Novella ". But for the reader the important thing is the continuation of the life and loves of our protagonist, Jenny Beckett, the owner of the Lakeside Resort....She has repaired and remodeled the eight guest cabins with the help of her love interest, Luke , by chance a contractor, and is preparing the Lakeside Resort for her second Christmas of holiday festivities for her guests... Susan does not disappoint the reader.. The story line is compelling and her descriptive prose is terrific...The reader has no trouble in visualizing the scenes and the characters..
I'm looking forward to Book 4..which will include the marriage of Jenny and Luke.... Stay tuned..!!
