If this is the only field guide available, it would be easier to eat random herbs and spices and just take your chances on the outcome. It's basically set up in alphabetical order, with a bit of info on each herb/spice and then a suggested recipe. Though the small size of the book is cute and apparently intended for you to take around with you, it required the text to be squashed together. Instead of each herb/spice having its own page or section, it is one long continuous run with the next item ...more

This book is amazing. I LOVE that it offers what to do with that spice. You think, "I have an entire sack of achiote. What do I do with it?" this book will tell you. I have learned about a bunch of spices I have never even heard of before. I love the pictures.
