Cyborgs on Mars #3

A Few Cyborgs More

Rate this book
A gruff older warrior. A hopeful young cyborg. A frightened woman on the run.

J-817 would never forgive himself for the terrible mistake he had made -- a mistake which resulted not only in his conversion to a cyborg but caused the same fate for his young private. Determined to atone for his failings, he protects B-669 during the long hard years terraforming Mars and even agrees to try his hand at mining the new planet.

Frantic to get away from Earth, Daisy seizes the opportunity to become part of the Martian mail order bride program, even though it means a dangerous new planet and an unknown husband. She doesn’t expect to find herself married by proxy to a stern older cyborg who refuses to let her close to him, but whose intense gaze creates a storm of longing inside her. And his young partner is just as attractive.

B-669 owes everything to J-817, but the other male is too buried in guilt to accept his gratitude. In an attempt to overcome the trauma of the past, B-669 arranges for a bride for J-817. Despite J-817’s original rejection of the delicate little human, B-669 can see the longing in his eyes when he watches Daisy. It’s just a matter of time before he succumbs. The only problem is, B-669 wants her just as much.

When danger threatens, can they overcome their past fears and learn to live -- and love -- together in this harsh new world?

Each book in the Cyborgs on Mars series can be enjoyed as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy science fiction romance is intended for mature readers. This is a ménage à trois relationship.

Generously giving this 3 stars.
Somehow, I didn't enjoy this like I did with books 1 & 2. I had to force myself just to finish. The whole plot felt forced, with no real "love" in the mix for the threesome, just sex & the bad ex showing up to cause problems for the FMC (just like in book 2), which is way too predictable following book 2. This ménage relationship felt very imbalanced, with poor Bill getting the scraps of the relationship. The characters are a bit flat, Jonah and Bill have a very weird relationship with each other to start with (felt more like Jonah felt an obligation to Bill & Bill felt a parental type of attachment to Jonah), not what I would call friends/buddies, & for them to end up in the ménage with Daisy, just didn't seem logical or feel natural. I didn't see them as those kinds of buddies/friends, willing to share Daisy. I thought that Bill being added into the mix felt lopsided, like the author didn't know what to do with him, so decided to throw them together into a ménage. And then Daisy goes from a terrified of all males & horrified at the idea of a ménage when she overheard something from someone else -coming off the ship, to a horny beast in a flip of the switch, all within a day of being at the guys' pod (if I remember correctly). It was very off putting for me to read that & took away from the distrust & fear of men that she had to start with, and it made me dislike her.

The other thing that was off putting for me, the guys are supposed to be cyborgs, but the way I read it, other than a few things thrown out at random points in the story, they just didn't seem cyborg- AT ALL. Almost felt like I was reading a western with the heroes having prosthetics, instead of cyborgs on Mars. Made it hard to associate all the prejudice the cyborgs have to deal with on Mars. At this point, I'm not sure I'd want to read book 4, as I'm afraid it will be a rinse & repeat of books 1-3.

When it comes to ménage à trois romance, I tend to pick up books set up in an alternate universe where everyone involved is 100% okay with it and there's zero jealousy involved. I know it's not realistic because jealousy occurs in all types of relationship--even monogamous ones, but I get very uncomfortable when anyone in the relationship gets jealous. It makes me feel sorry for them and it takes away from the romance.

In this book though, there was a little jealousy going on because in the beginning, the relationship was only supposed to be between Jonah and Daisy. In fact, Billy, the younger cyborg arranged for Daisy to be married to Jonah, his senior, because Billy was worried about him becoming too closed-off after a traumatic incident. It was only after that, that Billy found himself being attracted to Daisy and vice versa.

This was where I got really uncomfortable because of the relationship inequality. I'm probably not making any sense but like I mentioned before, Daisy was presented to Jonah as his bride and they were immediately sexually attracted to each other. It was her and Jonah first, before there was Jonah, Daisy and Billy. Sure, Daisy began to feel attracted to Billy later on but it almost felt like Billy became an afterthought. I mean he was just there--he would do anything for the both of them, he would do anything to impress Daisy and he was also passably attractive so why not take him along on the ride?

I felt like it was unfair for Billy in a way, because it felt like he was a third-wheeler in his own relationship. I don't know, maybe other people were fine with their relationship dynamic. But I know I was majorly uncomfortable and sorry for him--even though I know I shouldn't.

Love me some Cyborgs

Fun quick read. It is a bit insta love, I wish we saw more growth between all of them as they grew into a family. However I enjoyed the aspect that they all filled a hole in each other.

I hate myself for reading this so fast! This is a story that I wanted to savor, having looked forward to its release for weeks. But I couldn't. Savor it, that is. I just fell into Daisy's story, her new life with her guys. Jonah, with his big mountain man load of hurt, and Bill, the best wing-man ever, together they make the perfect man! The story was easy to get lost in, and I just kept going, page after page, I couldn't stop. There are so many smoking hot scenes when they finally get to it, but the story really focuses on their building relationship and the way they intersect with the other characters in the series. I loved this book, I love this series, I am anxiously waiting for Cherry's story to come out, and I'm wondering what's up with Serena anyway? I have questions about how the discovery will play out in future books, and I just want to go back and read this one again!

Mail order bride

This is another Cyborg on Mars story where a mail order bride is ordered for a Cyborg in secret but the bride has secrets of her own. She is a very scare but brave woman to come to Mars. She also seems to be very patient. The cyborgs are looking to enjoy life and be like everyone else even though the government doesn't acknowledge them as part human. Good read.

4&1\2fabulous 🌟's

This book was about protecting those you love and connections made by deep abiding friendships. That's why it work so well, it wasn't just run of the mill manage a trois. I don't always enjoy three somes because they don't always feel organic and real. Oftentimes they feel forced and the characters don't mesh or compliment one another naturally. This story was beautifully told, the males leads complimented one another and both for like puzzle pieces together and with the female lead giving each other exactly what they needed in their relationship. Daisy is a small feisty young woman, who has lost her faith and trust in men for a good reason. She choose to leave everything she knows to go to the new colony on Mars to be the wife of a man she doesn't know. On the way there she finds out something that is worth fighting for. Jonah and Bill both soldiers who were injured horribly and turned into cyborgs without their consent. Jonah is the older of the two and was the commanding officer when they were injured. He feels like he being punished for his failure to save his men and doesn't feel worthy of fried ship or love. Bill is the younger of the two and is worried about his closest friend and only family. He takes a chance and acquires a bride for Jonah before he looses himself. What he doesn't expect is to fall in love with Daisy himself. Much of the story is the unfolding of the reasons for each of them being on Mars and how the growing relationship between the 3 of them evolved naturally from friendship to deep abiding love and a true sense of belonging and family. Honey Phillips continues to do an excellent job at world building, developing the story of the colony on Mars and all of the cyborgs and their families with each story. I absolutely recommend this book as well as the whole series and I look forward to the next book in the series.💖

Cyborgs do it Better !!!

I really LIKE this series !!!
Even though these " Cyborgs " were used and abused in their respective pasts , they have the capacity for so much love .
In this story we meet Jonah, and Billy . In their lives before being turned into Cyborgs, they were a military unit . Jonah was in charge of a small squadron of soldiers when their mission got brutally attacked . He later found out that not only was he the lone survivor, he was no longer a human !! If course , he blamed himself, and fell into a deep depression. He didn't care about his new abilities or going to Mars in order to terra form the planet for humans to eventually settle there . It wasn't until the cyborg s were loading up did he see one of the soldiers in his unit , Billy . He vowed to give Billy all that he could, since he couldn't give him a Real life anymore.
Billy is ( was ) a young soldier . He was happy to still be alive , even though he was classified as no longer a man.
But he and Sarge - Jonah , were done with their duties, and now had a homestead of sorts. All they needed now was a family......
Earth , is busy setting up operations on Mars . Travel , work your own land..... That kind of thing . Also , since most that went were men , Mars needs Women .
And Daisy needed to get AWAY !!
Married to a controlling man of influence, she was basically trapped. She found a way out from a Mail order Bride for Mars advertisement and she sold everything she had in order to slip past her guards and get to the ship bound for a new World.
But , will this too be another mistake ???

Daisy , Jonah , and Bill find themselves learning each other and working together , but will her past catch up to them ??
And will the new love they have begun to share read them apart ??
I enjoyed this story very much . It is a lighthearted read with some unexpected twists and turns , and we learn about life on Mars and how Cyborgs do it Better !!!

Daisy gladly accepts a marriage by proxy to a man that has settled at the new territory on the planet Mars. Although she has not seen her new husband, he is better than her rich and violent ex-boyfriend who wants to destroy her body and soul. Cyborgs J-817 and B-669 gave their lives for their country and were repaid by being turned into cyborgs to be workers for the new establishment on Mars. J-817, the Sargent to B-669 when they were human soldiers, cannot forgive himself for the decisions he made that lead to the death of his squad and him and B-669 made into Cyborgs. When three lost souls, Daisy, J-817 and B-669, come together, everything will change for all of them. Mars becomes the new frontier in more ways than one.

I have recently become a Honey Phillips fan. Do not let the name fool you, this lady is an excellent writer. I had read the prequel novel to the Cyborg series and was intrigued. A Few Cyborgs More was a combination of westerns and war shows from the 1960s and 1970s with modern day technology. I enjoyed the constant caring and protectiveness that J-817 showed towards B-669, even after they became Cyborgs. In turn they both became protective and loving towards Daisy. The intricate development of their relationship within the novel was good. Ms. Phillips did a good job of making sure each character’s emotional distress of what was developing between them known and utilized effective communication to keep the chaos to a minimum. This novel introduced new characters from whose stories will be explored in future novels in the series. The characters from the prequel characters were also a part of this story. I hope to see these three in the future stories in the series. This novel was a wonderful quick steamy read that had me wanting to read more.

An unexpected family

I enjoyed Jonah, Bill, and Daisy’s mail order bride, human-cyborg, why choose triad romance. This is a heartwarming, healing and steamy romance full of relatable characters with a touch of angst. Jonah, aka J-817, is a cyborg who has been on Mars for a decade helping to prepare the planet for humans. He is now a Ranger helping to keep law and order. He also has a mine claim that he works. He lives with Bill, aka B-669, who was a young military recruit under him when they were both fatally injured. They have been inseparable since coming to Mars. Since the injury and being turned into a cyborg, Jonah is always unhappy while Bill is a glass half full kind of man. In an attempt to cheer him up, Bill uses his savings to get a mail order bride for Jonah. Daisy agreed to be a mail order bride to escape an abusive and dangerously charming man. She discovers that’s she’s pregnant on the ship to Mars. Once Daisy is in Jonah and Bill’s home she finds she likes them both equally. Can the three of them figure out a way to have a relationship together? This was my least favorite book in the series. Daisy was so skittish when she arrived and seemed to agree to easily to the non-traditional relationship while heavily pregnant which almost stretched my believability meter too much. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, characters with dimension and a fairly engaging storyline. I am still loving the series and will keep reading. 3.5 stars

The beginning of the story had me painting one picture in my head of something more futuristic, once we introduce Daisy things started feeling like a Vanessa Vale old time western without the spankings.

Except for some references to their implants we don’t really get much sci-fi normal cyborg behavior.

B-669/Billy and J-817/Jonah were soldiers before they were made into cyborgs. Jonah was Billy’s team leader and feels responsible for Billy being injured and as such is still living with the guilt of letting his men down.

Hoping to draw Jonah back to the land of the living Billy sends away for a bride for him. When Daisy arrives she is surprised to find out she is married to a cyborg, who knows nothing about her becoming his wife by proxy.

While Daisy, Billy and Jonah are all likeable the story itself was fairly predictable. Daisy was running from something and we knew it would show up in typical bad guy fashion at a point in the story. There were some touching moments in the story and parts that made you smile but like I stated earlier this felt like a western with cyborgs instead of cowboys and a little lady that needed rescuing.

Good

Jonah, Daisy and Bill

Jonah blames himself for the loss of his team, and the injuries that he and Bill sustained that lead to them becoming cyborgs.
His morose demeanor made Bill worry about him, so the younger cyborg arranged for a bride.
When Daisy arrives she brings secrets with her, but she is determined to make her marriage work- and she refuses to break up Jonah and Bill’s partnership…

This is book four in the series, so it does build on the stories that went before, and you do need to have read them. This book actually overlaps a little time wise with book three, so some of it won’t be a huge surprise; and while the overarching background story isn’t furthered much, some of the mist surrounding motives is beginning to clear by the end of it.

This book is still a quick read, this time it focuses a lot more on the relationships because there are two in particular: Daisy and her men, and the partnership between the men (not a romance). There is still some action, and some obvious Gencon plotting, and the setup for some future tales in this Martian world.
It’s a quick read, with some sexy times, and a little action, but enjoyable for the sci-fi romance lovers who like their cyborgs to be a lot like Wild West Cowboys.

To flee from earth Daisy takes part in the mail order bride program for Mars. On Mars it turns out her husband is actually an cyborg but even so she directly feels drawn towards him. However she also feels drawn to his partner.

So this is a ménage but only an mfm one, means there is no list between the two men but the both love the same woman and it’s ok for them. These man clearly love each other in a way too but not like lovers more like family.

I personally like mmf books much more because I love to see when the men also lust after each other and deeply love each other like lovers.

However I think the dynamic between these three was good and I like that they all were so open towards the idea. Their relationship was very insta love and insta lust but it still worked.

In general I liked the characters, all pretty different but great.

I also liked the story, though I think it felt a little flat this time because of course there was a big focus on the relationship. I wish there would have been a little more about Daisy’s past but I like a lot the way it is too.

Overall I really liked this. I had hoped for an mmf but this mfm was good too. I am looking forward to book four.

Series: Cyborgs on Mars #3
Rating: 4 stars - It was really good

B-669 owes everything to J-817. In an attempt to help J-817 overcome the trauma of their past, he arranges for a mail order bride for him. What neither of them expects is to find that Daisy might want both of them.

This is the first ménage relationship in this series and it was very enjoyable. Billy and Jonah have been partners for years but with Daisy they realize their partnership can change. I enjoyed the relationship progression in this one a lot. Their relationship built over time and eventually included all three of them.

While not a lot happened with GenCon in this one we do get the hint of what might happen in future books. I am curious to see how it plays out, especially since it appears that the cyborgs are all in agreement on it. Overall, this was a great cyborg romance and I hope these three appear in future books. Also, I am so excited to learn more about Cherry and her life. She is a very interesting woman.

I had read High Plains Cyborg several months ago, and loved Clint, so I wanted to give this book a try. Honey certainly knows how to tell a story and her world-building is excellent. Former military comrades Jonah and Billy have come through h**l and just want to live in peace, although Jonah is stuck with a seemingly insurmountable pile of self-imposed guilt. Billy just wants him to be happy, so he sends for a mail-order bride on J's behalf. Well...yeah.

Daisy is running scared from her past and wants a fresh start. I was so worried that J would be unkind to her, but I should have known Honey wouldn't let us down. Jonah was gruff and stoic, but both males were so protective and sweet with Daisy, I almost melted--I'm a sucker for a guy who wants to carry the girl around and hold her in his lap for snuggles. It was very frustrating how long it took both guys to see their worth and stop holding back with her, but I guess the book would have been a short story otherwise. I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review. Great cyborg ménage romance. I loved the characters in this book. Jonah and Billy are the best of friends with a little guilt sprinkled in on Jonah’s side. Daisy is brave, she’s escaped Earth and her controlling/psychotic ex. When she gets to Mars she’s surprised and dismayed, her husband doesn’t even know she was coming? And why is she so attracted to his best friend? Both men, I mean cyborgs, are hard bodied, sexy and dominant. Yes, please! There’s a little adjustment period for this soon to be thruple not to mention her little surprise which both men are amazing about. I nearly read this all in one go but had to sleep after all lol. What a lucky girl Daisy is to have two amazing men totally dedicated to her comfort and most importantly her pleasure. Gets an iced drink, a fan or your man by your side while you read...you’ll definitely need one or two of them.

A woman on the run, Daisy decided only Mars would be far enough to protect her from the killer that had been keeping her prisoner.

She signed up for the mail order bride program, wed a man by proxy, and got on the ship. Five months later she was on Mars, a little over 22 weeks pregnant, and waiting to meet her new husband. Waiting for her was Bill, one of the cyborgs that had terraformed Mars, he had arranged for Daisy to come to Mars to be his partner Jonah's wife. But it was all a big surprise to Jonah, an ex military man , also a cyborg, who couldn't believe any woman would want a cyborg. They didn't even have citizenship rights any more, weren't considered human any longer, due to the changes the military had made in them. Daisy didn't see a problem with being married to a good-looking vet, and figured two of them meant she didn't have to worry her ex would ever find her and hurt her ever again. Love a works in mysterious ways, the baby is soon born, but trouble followed her from Earth, and her men have to figure out how to save her and the baby.

Daisy traveled several months to Mars to leave behind a nightmare. Married to a man on paper and sight unseen, she arrives on Mars. Daisy is small, afraid, and harboring a secret. Once arriving at her new homestead, she finds she's married to a huge and gruff, older cyborg! Jonah is blindsided by this marriage that his long-time friend, Billy, has arranged. But Daisy finds herself attracted to both men. Jonah is protective and commanding which makes her feel safe. Billy is affectionate and kind which makes Daisy feel loved. This makes for a steamy story between the trio. I love them together. Billy is hoping that Daisy can heal Jonah's broken soul over time. Unfortunately, Daisy's past catches up with her. You will hate Richard. He's a special kind of evil. This adventure has some fun twists and turns. Don't miss it!

A Few Cyborgs More gives us an additional view of the Mars colony and landscape. You will fall in love with Jonah and Billy just like Daisy did. Fabulous addition to the series! 4 stars

I love this series!
This story captured my attention quickly with scenes of what happened before Jonah and Bill arrive on Mars. Intensely moving! I had to read on. Billy (B-669) finds a way to get a mail order bride for his partner, his guilt-ridden Sgt., Jonah (J-817). Daisy has a secret. One that Jonah and Bill have no problem accepting. Thankfully, Daisy is a very open-minded person, because she really needs the protection of both these men. I love the way Jonah changes from the ever grumpy, gloomy man to one who is happy and laughing with his new wife and partner. Trouble does come (doesn’t it always find us?) but a fine (and unusual) collection of friends are there to help set things straight. I am more and more intrigued by a GenCon employee and wonder what motivates her to assist. A splendid adventure and heartwarming romance.

What I loved about this book the most was the dedication of the men to each other above all else until she came and she came with a little one.

Jonah is feeling guilty cause he has a done a human thing - made a mistake... a costly one but a mistake all the same. Billy is forgiving for he understand what life is a living breathing, loving thng and anyway mistakes happen. Jonah will always be Sarge to him and his love for him will always make Billy seek out Jonah's happiness at the cost of his own. but not with Daisy.

Daisy showed up to get way and never did she think that she would be loved by one cyborg but two...not only unconventional but accepted, wanted and needed beyond measure and to take her little on as their own cause in the end isn't that what they wanted to happen - created their own family on Mars.

Third installement of the Cyborgs on Mars I've had the pleasure to read and I am absolutely hooked! This one introduces us to Mail Order Brides (if you're not familiar with the concept - men and women would marry by proxy in areas like the old west). This story concentrates on Daisy, Jonah and Bill, all 3 have a past. Jonah can't move past his, Bill wants to move past his and Daisy's could destroy the love the 3 of them share. This a very sweet and hot love story. Can they move forward from their pasts and fight against the new threat that wants to destroy them and their wider community?
Can't wait for the next instalment.

Possible spoiler?

These cyborgs just get better and better! Jonah has spent years in a deep depression so Bill orders a bride to try to help him. Daisy is adorable, running from an abusive relationship, she does not feel safe around attractive men, but Jonah is just unattractive enough for her to be comfortable around. And Billy might be handsome, but he is sweet and nice enough to get under her fears pretty quickly. She soon realizes, she wants them both! Two slightly damaged people and their plucky sidekick learning to be a family! But trouble is around the corner! Loved it. Loved it. Loved it!

Another fun installment of the Cyborgs on Mars series, A Few Cyborgs More follows Jonah, Billy, and Daisy——as they figure out their non-traditional arrangement and wrestle with their own personal demons. Of which, the trio of them have plenty. They are the sweetest family after they get things settled, though.

In this story, we get to know more about Miss Cherry, paving the way for the next book, and it's become perfectly clear that GenCon is up to no good. Greed never yields good things. But is Serena an ally or a foe? With as often as she comes into play in these stories, I can't help but wonder if someone will not get a cyborg of her own down the line.

Filled with surprises

Love this series! It is filled with excitement, intrigue, fear, love, acceptance and plenty of action. It also has an evil entity named GenCon that will do anything for money.
Billy(B-669) sent off for a wife for Jonah(J-817). Of course Jonah doesn't know anything about it until she arrives.
Daisy agreed to be a mail order bride to escape something on Earth. She only knew her husband was named Jonah. She got a shock when she discovered that he was a cyborg and she had a little surprise for them herself.
Jonah feels he failed at keeping people safe in his life on Earth. So he jeeps pushing Daisy away. What happens when Billy starts having feelings for Daisy too?

“If nothing else, Mars means a new future. For everyone.”

Bill and Jonah would have died in battle if the cyborg program didn’t exist… but that doesn’t mean they signed up to be Cyborgs, or that life on Mars is a dream come true.

Daisy signs up as a mail order bride to escape Earth, simple as that. When she arrives on Mars she discovers she’s not the only one who needs to build a future and start looking forward.

This done in one book gives minimal time to GenCon, the major corporation that is present throughout the books thus far, instead focusing on life at a small mining camp away from town. The story juxtaposes how others see you with how we see ourselves, and somewhere in between lies an image we can embrace, enjoy, and find happiness with.

A Few Cyborgs More is a part of the Cyborgs on Mars series, and Honey Philips has made another great story. This one feature MMF scenes that are well-executed, along with a decent amount of focus on the relationship between the two men. There is a little surprise involving “the woman“, and we are introduced to the characters for the next book in the series, which I'm excited to add to my Kindle list. Additionally, we get some history, a glimpse of a possible future, and heart warming moments with babies and weddings. Through hard work and labor, a new baby is born, showcasing ongoing technology for better or worse, along with themes of pride and love.

This steamfest featured underlying themes of self-compassion, friendship, loyalty, governmental conspiracies, courage, desperation, domestic violence, acceptance, healing, sacrifice, hope, and love. The nail-biting scenes were potentially a bit over the top, but in a good way. Also the females portrayed are strong, capable, and not prone to tstl issues. The cyborg horses were a terrific addition too. This is the first book I've read in this series, but it was easy to understand, and now I can't wait to catch up on everything I've missed as well as see what's in store for the future.

I received a free copy of A few Cyborgs More, but that did not affect my review.

Awesome cyborgs on Mars

This cyborgs on Mars were considered machines, not allow the rights that they had on earth, not even their names. But on Mars, some of them revert to their former names. Jonah and his partner Bill were two such miners. Jonah's mail order bride, Daisy arrives pregnant and terrified of the baby's father. Will they keep Daisy and baby safe?

The characters are relatable, emotional, fiesty, and querky. This fast paced drama has a twist in the science fiction/old west tradition. I love reading old western stories which pits the bad guys against the good abet cyborgs.

Highly entertaining and recommended book.
