Tall – check.
Muscular – check.
Tatted – double check.
Until he opens his mouth.
Adam is grumpy, rude, and obnoxious as hell.
He’s the kind of guy who deserves double fisted middle fingers.
And I really should tell him exactly where he can shove his insults.
Instead, I bite my tongue.
He intrigues me and I can’t fight the need I have to find out what caused the pain so evident in

My heart be still! I’m so full of emotions right now after reading this incredible story. This story deserves more than five stars and I hope my review can do it justice. This is a story about two people who have had either tragedy or sadness in their lives, and how they come to know each other.

Maddie is a young woman who lives and loves to dance, but many things have happened in her life to prevent her from achieving her dreams. Can she show the people she loves that dancing is in her very sou

Adam is a man that has been through a terrible thing in his life and it has permanently left scars on the inside as well the outside. He is a broody guy that can’t run from his past, the guilt, and anger. So, when he moves to a new to town to try to start over, he never expects Maddie his overly cheerful neighbor to break down the walls he has created. Maddie is a sweetheart that wants to follow her passion in dance but with her family not supporting her she feels as if she as if her dreams will ...more

Madison didn't see anything wrong with admiring the scenery out her bedroom window she may have even decided she was done with the male species.
However taking her bestie's advice she tried to be neighberly only to have the rug yanked rudely out from under her.
That man was the epitome of rudniess and all she did was try to be polite.
Funday Sundays and endless alcoholic joy in a glass.
Unfortunately Mondays arrive way to soon and I'm having to deal with

“Your broken parts were made to fit mine.”
Can this quote BE any more swoon inducing?! (I’m channeling my inner Chandler Bing) Wow... just wow! What an amazing story! After being introduced to Adam in Instant Heat I knew this was going to be an intense read. Slow Burn gives you all of the emotions! Adam has been through Hell and back. You can’t blame him for being so shut down and dark inside. I just want to cry for the broken man and everything he was dealing with. Maddie was a surprise for sur

Vulnerability. Hiding in the shadows. Despair. Tragic. Sad. Consumed. These are the words I would use to describe Adam and the way that he is living. There is no doubt that he has experienced a tragic loss which has left him scarred. For him, the easiest thing to do to escape it all is to hide himself away and limit his social contact but this leaves him living in a perpetual circle of nightmares, loneliness and self-loathing.

Vulnerable. Wanting acceptance and to follow her dreams.

I found A.K. MacBride by mistake a few years ago. Not a bad mistake but a good one. Usually that's how I find a lot of books and authors. But she is a welcomed mistake. I haven't read a book that I didn't like by her.

This book is no different. I found that her books never fail to entice me to let others know that they need to read her novels. She has a way of making you feel every single word on the page.

Slow Burn is one of those novels that can either take you by storm or take you by storm (h

This is a new to me author. A.K. MacBride did what they set out to do with this story. This love story is told from the two main characters povs and alternates depending on where in the story you are. I absolutely love Maddie! She is a ray of sunshine that brightens up the world. Frankie, her best friend IS AWESOME! This story is not only a love story between two people but also explores finding the way back to one's family after being disconnected for so long. The reason this gets 3 stars is be ...more

Emotional, unimaginable, forgiving and inspiring all words I would use to describe Slow Burn. Adam has suffered unimaginable loss and has blamed himself for years. He finally tries to move on only to have a neighbor with a Fugly dog🤣

Who knew that that fugly dog would forever change his life?? That poor little ugly dog brings him back to life and to Maddie. Maddie is awe struck with Adam when she meets him. She looks past his scars and into his heart and that is so endearing. They help each other

This was not the right book for me. Everything was over the top dramatic and I didn't think that the characters acted realistically. One of them in particular needed a therapist far more than he needed a love life. It was hard to root for the main character, as I didn't get a good idea of how she struggled. She wants to dance, but it's hard to see the effort she put into becoming one. When something good happens, it's because it falls into her lap. When she wants to fix things with her family, i ...more

This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and is Adam and Maddie’s story. Maddie is passionate about dancing, but her dreams have not panned out. Trying to be neighbourly Maddie goes to see her new neighbour tattooed and sexy Adam, but things do not go to plan when he opens his mouth as he is grumpy, rude, and obnoxious, and looking into his eyes Maddie recognizes a troubled soul when she sees one. This is a beautifully written tale which is emotionally charged, and has heartbreak, tragedy, an ...more

Maddie and Adam were definitely a Slow burn!
I liked that they had a mutual attraction, that they were intrigued with each other - that they calmed each other while heating up the sheets.

I seriously wanted to hurt Maddie's dad a few times. He was infuriating... well until everything clicked into place. Then, I understood.
I really admired Maddie's drive and decision to pursue her dream, even if it did cause ripples in her family. That passion and flair for her art definitely shone through the page

Maddie has been watching her sexy new neighbor and when she finally gets a chance to introduce herself he is a total jerk. Adam is broken by his past and won’t let anyone get close to him. There is something about his scars that makes her want to know his story. Can Maddie get Adam to let down his walls?

Loved getting Adam’s story in more detail than what I learned in Instant Heat. Maddie is patient and really sees the real Adam. Slow Burn is sweet and heartbreaking all in one. Frankie and Jennah

Wow. This book created a whirlwind of emotions inside me. Heartbreak, awe, pain, frustration, it felt like I was going through mood swings from one chapter to the next.
These two have their broken parts, they know pain, they know darkness, and I guess that’s why they fit so well together.
Things might of started in the wrong way between them, but we know from the moment they met that they were meant for each other.
The chemistry between them was off the charts, I could almost feel it buzzing in my

From the start of the book to the end, this was an emotional rollercoaster. I felt everything as I was reading it. These characters were developed so well, I loved how fierce they fought for each other. Maddie and Adam were just perfect. The story arcs were beautifully laid out and this book was very easy to follow along with. A.K did an amazing job with this book and it will be one that I read again and again.

Slow Burn is right. Adam and Maddie were made for each other, they just didn't know it in the begining. In time Maddie broke down all of Adam's walls that he had erected due to circumstances beyond his control. With Maddie he finally founf the peace that he so needed. Maddie had her own issues which eventually she gets onto the road of working things out with her family. They had hurdles to get through and together they did so. ...more
