Fun Read

Mason and his beautiful companions, continue to try to understand the master's plan and defeat him. They have been able to thwart him so far, but getting the elves together to stop him seems impossible. I like the action, humor, and romance/lust. I look forward to the next book.

Time for another poorly written book, where the author(s) throw out foundations that they laid in previous books (sometimes the same book).

Meh. Normal fare. I think this might be the last book I do.

It makes no sense continuing when the characters are so trash.

Everything Not Settled.

The crew must be coming back because the elf situation hasn't been settled. But, it sounds like the mage situation is more important right now.

Good Read.

The story continues. The plot continues to expand. The story does harem elements and adult situations. I enjoyed the story and reading straight through the available books (currently book #10).

The Shark Has Been Jumped

These stories have just gotten more absurd and the random attempts to make the metal developments "rational" have been on the decline. Hard to maintain commitment at this point.

Aftermath of the battle to save house Quyn. Follows directly on last book.

Qiran the grumpy elder won’t share his scrolls, even after he and his whole clan are saved by Mason and the girls.

Looting the battle field. Good wholesome activity, but a whole lot of focus on the gore and apparently accelerated rot and maggots. And now the revolver is magic and/or can be controlled by magic to remote fire accurately.

Dragir has become downright friendly for an elf.

Deya, Shoshonne, Cayla and Aurora have been swimming with the dragons.

Dragir and Mason work together to make… Bazookas!

Dragir teaches Mason about ruin magic. The ruin magic system seems pretty well thought out and deep enough to be interesting and non-trivial. And its dangerous if you do it wrong, which makes it more plausible for some reason.

From strength to strength

This series is probably my favourite of all of Eric Vall's work to date and that is saying a lot as I pretty much have him on high rotation! If you haven't started this series go and buy book one and do yourself a favour.

This instalment sees more time spent in Nalnora and with the elves. In fact Mason has now spent more time in one location with the last three books than he has in all of the previous books. This book actually progresses the series further and brings new elements together and see old friends (and maybe enemies) popping back up. The ending is good (no big cliffhanger here) and felt like a natural point to finish the book. Mason and the girls a continue to level up, sometimes not in the way that is expected. I can't wait to see how the next book progresses, especially with the hints grown through this book.

Great Series

A great series that just keeps getting more interesting. Great established characters, with solid behavior and humor. Fair MC growth, regarding magic and power levels. He’s also gaining tons of battle experience, and his crew is too.

In this book we’re still fighting with and against elves, but there’s some new events and solid action. There isn’t a ton of major plot movement, but what’s there isn’t bad. Things will be getting more tense shortly.

Overall a good action book and worth reading. I admit I got a tad lost here and there trying to follow who was talking with whom and for what reason, but it’s pretty easy to slow down and look back a bit.

A great action story with magic, mayhem, politics, hidden players with hidden dangers, along with a fair bit of interplay. Yeah, interplay. 16+ recommended.

This is a fun series but I have to admit the Harem stuff is getting old. Must be something in the food in this alternative reality because not only are the women really OK with sharing pretty much any event has them rutting like bunnies. I end up skipping a lot of the books as a result. And while the Mustang sounds cool you'd think a guy good at building weapons might instead choose an APC given the dangers and the weapons choices seem odd. For instance, they have the equivalent of semi-auto cross-bows but not semi-auto guns (they have revolvers). They have revolvers from the 1800s, a car from the 1960s, a bazooka from the 1940s, and trains from the future? So I'm still reading this series but I find I put the books down a lot to throw things. On the positive side, they have swimming dragons, decent battles, and enough humor to make the books fun.

One of the best so far

I would be more than glad to review such an investment of time and talent. Ball continues to wow the literary genre with a plot and action that rival the greatest action blockbusters out there on film. I love the development of the characters and their abilities. Please if you have not, consider starting this series from the top and binge reading. It will not disappoint

Runes can and do Kill

Learning time magic is a secret the elves keep only to themselves, until the Master uses them to kill. Runes can take over the mind and force the person or animal to focus on a specific task, mostly kill. So how do you fight against that type enemy? Yes, take their heads.
This story was fun and exciting while still being sexy. I've enjoyed another Metal Mage and am looking forward to noon 8.
Keep up the great storyline!

Mason in a Mustang

What can I say, but these books get better each episode. Mason has a knack for finding trouble and beautiful women in equal measure. He puts everything on the line to save a beautiful elf who is in a bind. I loved the story and how through several problems with murderous elves and pitched battles Mason and a sea dragon save the day. I can't wait for the next in the series.

So much plot!

Action action action! So much stuff! If you don’t like the crafting bits, just skip them (it has been mentioned in other reviews), they are in nice chunks, but don’t let it sway you away from the story. Plot twists, intrigue, who is on which side? Spin the wheel and you will only be right for that turn. If you don’t like a particular plot twist, power through, it turns out alright

A great book.

This is a great book, hands down. Not only did it add a new character to the story, the book was the best in the series as of now. The previous book (# 6) was the dullest of the current 7 book series. Volume 6 spent way too much time talking about how the Mustang vehicle was built.

The fun never stops!

Metal mage has been one of my favorite EV series since the first one I read. The interactions of the characters draws me in and the deeply woven world and mixture of magic and technology(and now rune magic) continues to blow my mind and suck me further into the series. It's now definitely one of the one's I look forward to the most.

Another awesome read!

Another great read I couldn't put down!
Love how the characters powers and abilities are continuing to evolve, and at the same time, the as yet unmasked and unnamed villains powers continue to challenge the character at every turn, making for tense adrenaline fuelled battles!

Solid addition to the series. Pretty quick read with some interesting plot twists. A few minor quibbles over some technical details but this is a book about magic so nuff said.

Love this series

Still enjoying this series. Always a build project and discovery. But glad the group is leaving the elves (even if they are coming back). I look forward to Mason playing with runes. Lost of head room in the story arc so I expect lots more fun books.
