Boys of Almadale #2

King of Regret

Rate this book
She's the one thing he never thought he needed, but now, he'll do anything to keep her.

Brock

I'm one of the kings at Almadale Prep.
I've always lived without fear of repercussions.
To me, it's all fun and games ... until a ghost from my past makes an appearance.
But now, due to one steamy night, she might be my future.
It's time to grow up, stop messing around, and make decisions.
I want Peyton, and I will do what it takes to keep her safe ...
Even though I put her in harm's way in the first place.

In my world, I've always been a king ... but now, I might be brought to my knees.

Peyton

One fight, one ex-boyfriend, one party, one crush.
It only takes one time.
A revenge tryst with Brock turns into two pink lines.
And now, he has the wrath of the Lions Motorcycle Club on his back.
I shouldn't expect anything from him.
I shouldn't put my heart on the line.
But when he tells me what I want to hear, I can't help but believe him.

In my world, wanting a king ... might be the thing that kills him.

***King of Regret is a darkish romance. It contains themes that might be uncomfortable for some readers, including violence, blood, and death.

FIVE REGRET STARS for Peyton and Brock 💖🖤💖🖤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the first book that I've read by Jacie Lennon and I love it, so I'm looking forward to reading the first book from this series.

"King of Regret" is a dark high school romance with a one-night stand trope.

Peyton is a female character who wants to get revenge on an ex-boyfriend even though it means getting involved with one of the most popular boys from school.

Brock is a male character accustomed to the popularity he has both in and out of school, and everything changes when he decides to help Peyton get revenge on his ex-boyfriend.

If you love dark high school romance books, then this is the book you need to read!!!

Highly recommended!!!

What a great book this story turned out to be!! Jacie Lennon definitely didn’t disappoint.

This is the story of Brock, one of the Kings of Almadale, and Peyton. This book had me entertained the whole way through, but I definitely enjoyed King of Nothing soo much more.

Brock & Peyton hooked up for revenge against her ex-boyfriend, but little did they know that this would bring all the chaos that it did from that one moment in time. A couple of months later, Peyton has 2 pink lines which complicates things even more

I’m now ready to read the next book in this series and be prepared to be amazed.

I give this book 4 stars. King of Nothing was 5 stars for me.

Peyton and Brock's little get even, in your face thing now has some serious, as in the permanent kind, repercussions. But not just that, Peyton's ex and his MC are out for Brock's blood. Will Brock step up and take responsibility? How far will he go to protect the newest part of his circle? In turn, how far will Peyton go to protect Brock from her mistakes?

I know I keep saying I don't normally like reading about teenagers being typical obnoxious teenagers, and yet I keep reading about them. But it's stories like King of Regret that keep me reading them, although not in the same quantity as I read contemporary adult fiction. The pace is non-stop, there's lots of action with both the Mafia and the MC, and Brock and Peyton, especially Brock, actually make serious character development. I found these two and their not so great beginning fascinating, and am definitely looking forward to reading more about the Almadale world.

We met Brock in King of Nothing, he is one of the Kings... maybe he is the head King as both Bodhi and Corbin defer to Brock on things. One night Brock and Peyton had sort of a revenge one-night thing, for Peyton a way to get at her ex and for Brock also a way to get at Peyton's ex. Win win for both parties, until three months later when Peyton reaches out to Brock. Now they have a situation, way more than just two lines on a stick.

Oh boy what a story this turned out to be. So much better than the first book, King of Regret gives us drama, danger, violence, a few naughty moments, and overall a really good story. This had some really amazing surprises in the direction that it took. I give this 5 stars.

Brock redeemed himself from being such an A hole in book 1! I thought Corbin was my favorite, but after this book, it's definitely Brock. I can't wait to read Bodhi's book

It was good to be back in this world and with these characters. Brock was very interesting character and he wanted to have control almost everything. One night with Peyton changed everything. They were from different world but they were so good for each other. I liked both of these characters. Also I liked her uncle Mooney.

Arc:Payton and Brock are from opposite worlds. Peyton has had a rough life getting expelled from school and her father not caring about her. Brock has good family and friends. He doesn’t struggle with money.

I loved their first interaction I could feel how attracted they were to each other from the moment they met.

I was very shocked at the plot twist I wasn’t expecting it. But it connected Payton and Brock.

When he found out he was very protective and caring towards Payton. It was sweet seeing Payton have affection shown to her after everything that has happened to her.

I really enjoyed this book. I can’t wait to read more!!

Interesting HS romance with past bully aspects. There isn't any current bullying in this book. Brock and Peyton are mostly a couple fairly quickly, it's just a matter of what kind of couple. Brock at least doesn't keep secrets for long and clues his dad into what's up so there is less TSTL moments than in some HS bully books but, that said, there are also some really TSTL moments from Brock that just made me cringe (doing a "drop" for an enemy? C'mon, no way you don't realize that is a total set up)

The twists and turns were not great plotting. A lot of it assumes the reader has read the first book and knows who people are and remembers earlier events. I did read the first book and didn't remember any of it so I found part of the plotting confusing and I was unable to suspend a lot of disbelief.

This books drags the boys into mafia/MC territory where they are woefully unprepared to go. The next book seems to leave them in the middle of that territory.

Sex scenes in this book didn't seem as long or as abundant in this book and I liked them better.

Buckle up and find your Oh S*** Handles people—it’s an unbelievable ride you’ll for sure hate missing out on.

This story really just kept outdoing itself as I got farther into the book, then you get to 78% and things really get intense. I’m talking like NEXT LEVEL stuff being thrown around like it’s candy at a parade. I got all tangled up in knots over the bundle of many feels invading me all at once. It was turmoil sitting there feeling way too close to the end of the book for my liking, yet not being able to read fast enough because things just kept flying into play and I HAD to know what happened next.

Brock is so loyal, possessive and protective when it comes to his family it’s swoony and they are such admirable traits to see explored more in this book, especially in a character who is written to be very cold, unapproachable and quite frankly an ass****. In KON we learned that most of his driving force of harsh hostile treatment towards Landry were these aspects of him at play in full force, but KOR really showed us that these attributes really are what make up his entirety as a human. Not only that, but we get to see the force of these in play to defend a main character rather than seeing them directed as attack at a main character (like in KON). If you hated Brock before, I bet you have a hard time not loving him now; the heart-melting epilogue will seal the deal if the book itself doesn’t. 😍

Peyton is smart, witty, strong, resilient and so deserving of all that Brock does for her. I honestly loved her and really just wanted to give her a hug. 🤣 She took so much thrown her way in life and it really didn’t slow down any in this book, but she always pushed through and it all lead her to a family she can call her own. This girl should have a pass to live happily ever after for all the rest of her days and be considered untouchable to any and all of life’s darkness.

The last thing I need to freak out about is the bonus epilogue that was available if you signed up for Jacie’s newsletter! 😳😳 OHMYGOSH!! 😝🙌🏻 if you thought you didn’t need it in your life you are beyond mistaken—it’s serious candy for leading into book three KOD.

Oh man , I don’t even know how to begin here.. this book was so different than KON and I am floored with the emotions it put me through.. Peyton and Brock while growing up in completely different lifestyles had a lot in common.. Brock maybe one of the kings of campus but he’s more concerned with life after High school..

Peyton’s life is a real shit show most days .. ever since she was expelled for fighting at her one chance at a better future , she’s been living with her alcoholic father and dating Drake .. when they break up she sees an opportunity .. she makes Brock an offer he can’t refuse..little do they know how much that one night would change everything ..

This book brought it all.. for a YA romance, it definitely had me feeling all types a way .. these two kids have had to grow up quick and are in most situations that even adults don’t find themselves in .. in Brocks case he’s used to throwing money at the problem and getting real results but what happens when that backfired in his face? For Peyton , everything she’s ever had she’s worked for so why should everything be different now that she has Brock in her corner? What happens when she tries to fix things herself ?

Y’all don’t even know how much this book will leave you salivating for more .. I can’t wait for Brodhis book ... I have a feeling it’s going to be epic ..

A Winning Combination!!

So many things that I love in my books; bullies, MC and mafia. Brock and Peyton came from completely different backgrounds but they crossed paths when Peyton earned a scholarship to Almadale Academy which the Montgomery brothers "owned". After being set up Peyton was kicked out of school and had to go back to live with her abusive, alcoholic father.

Three years later Peyton and Brock meet up at a party and Peyton propositions Brock to get her soon to be ex to get the drift she wants nothing to do with him anymore. It just so happens that Brock and Drake are bitter enemies anyway.

Now three months later we need to know who the baby daddy is. Drake is out for blood. His MC has put a hit out on Brock and Peyton is in the crosshairs as well. Will the mafia become their saviors?!

The chemistry, the suspense and the process of growing up kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I definitely recommend this book.

King of Regret is the second title in the Boys of Almadale series featuring Brock. Brock featured quite prominently in King of Nothing. He’s one of the three Almadale kings, and twin brother to Bodhi. I would highly recommend reading this title after King of Nothing, as the elements of this title run concurrently and it will reveal spoilers if read out of order.
King of Regret is an engaging and entertaining read full of twists and turns, and equal parts drama, danger and violence.
Heading into this title I wasn’t entirely sure how I would feel about Brock. In the previous title he came across as being quite cold, detached and aloof, but he rather than being unemotional he actually feels quite deeply. He’s incredibly loyal, and protective when it comes to those he holds dear and is very possessive of the woman he wants.
Peyton is intelligent, resilient, driven, determined and witty. She’s had a difficult upbringing but doesn’t let it hold her back.
I was intrigued by this title and adored Peyton and Brock, their story was so different to anything I could have expected and it’s left me even more eager for Bohdi’s story next.

Brock & Peyton hooked up for revenge against her ex-boyfriend, but little did they know that this would bring all the chaos that it did from that one moment in time. A couple of months later, Peyton has 2 pink lines which complicates things even further since it starts a series of events that both of them could have done without. King of Regret was a very addictive read which kept my attention 100% cover to cover, and I devoured it in very short order, as it was impossible to put down for even a second. There's danger stalking them and that made for some crazy twists, drama for you drama llamas, the violence that may or may not have been because of the danger, angst for days, and sexy times to get hot flashes going. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED every minute of this story, and trust me when I say, you want to hit those one click buttons for a brilliant & chaotic ride that is King of Regret! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

OMG! This book was AMAZING! Ugh I love the twins.
Peyton. She got felt a bad hand, but I love that it didn’t knock her confidence. She has a strong personality and that made her even more awesome.
Brock. I love the twins and Brock is awesome of the two. He could be a controlling ass, but he meant well the whole time.
I won’t say anything about them together because YOU NEED TO READ THIS! It’s so awesome and there are so many twists.

Awwww this book!!!! This book was AMAZING!!! Had me on the edge of my seat with wonder and what was going to happen next.

This is the second book in this series and it picks up right where the first one left off. How it starts off the story of Brock is a work of art!

Brock always had to be I control until he wasn’t, then things didn’t go right for anyone.

Peyton was the sweet nerd girl next door who was not from the same street as everyone else, that along made her a target.

When their worlds collide, plenty of things would stop them from being actual friends and possibly even more which is something neither of them wanted.

The whole book was unexpected and I could not predict what was going to happen next and I loved EVERY MINUTE OF IT! I’m patiently waiting for book 3 now!

What are you waiting for? Start this series NOW!

This book was an absolute delight to read. A mafia, mc, and bully romance all in one that kept me on the edge of my seat. King of Regret follows the journey of Brock and Peyton, who finds themselves in a life-altering situation.

I loved seeing Landry and Corbin from the first book, King of Nothing. The ending was so satisfying, and I loved seeing a sweeter side of Brock. I highly recommend this book and the entire Almadale series by Jacie Lennon!

Welcome back to Almadale Prep. This book revolves around Brock and Peyton. Brock is an ice king. He rules the school with an iron fist, emotionless unless you are his family. He has the pick of girls but decides to take Peyton up on an offer of revenge against her ex-boyfriend, Brock's enemy. This night leads to life changing events for all those involved. This story was great and had me hooked from the first page. We see a different side to Brock in this intriguing story. The characters are all fantastic in this story. I highly recommend this read and look forward to the next installment to this great series.

'King of regret' is the second book of the 'Boys of Almadale' series by Jacie Lennon. Told in dual Perspectives , this is Brock's story!

After reading the forest book of this series, I was very excited to finally get my hands on Brock's story! And what a ride it was. Brock is the Ice Prince of the college and rules the school with an ice fist. Peyton is one of the girls at the school. Peyton has this crazy idea to get back on her ex and she propositions Brock for that. Imagine her surprise when he actually accepted!

That led an unforgettable night which changed the paths these two were going on. I really loved the story line of this book , but it was the characters that actually took my heart! The story is amazingly written and is a definite recommendation to all the dark Romance lovers out there , if you are into high school Romance with a one night stand then this book is something you definitely should not miss!

This is becoming one of my new favorite series!
I LOVE these boys of Almadale Prep.
Brock is the hardest to crack of the “three kings “. He doesn’t want a girlfriend . He wants no ties to anyone . Until Peyton.
Oh Peyton... I LOVE her. She is just who Brock needs as his Queen.
She brings out a totally different person of Brock.
Peyton has been dealt a rough card in life , and Brock is the last person she thought she needed, but the one thing she can’t live without .
Their story had me sucked in and finished in 24 hours .
The ending took my heart. My God, Brock.
I can not wait to read the final book In this series .
Eagerly waiting to know Bodhi’s story !
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

King of Regret is just WOW. Jacie Lennon really out done herself with this book. When you mix MC and Mafia I’m just said holy cow. We meet Brock back in King of Nothing
granted he started out asshole but turn out a good guy in the end. Protected over his family and friends.
Now we meet Peyton who was scholarships kid who get kick from the Academy. Even though Brock and Peyton come from to different side of town they passed each while she was at school.

Drake is Peyton ex boyfriend and also member of the MC. Drake and Brock are bitter enemies. When Peyton break up with Drake and he can’t take she doesn’t want him. Peyton goes to the one person she knows Drake hate Brock for help. After one night stand everyone life is change when Peyton founds out she pregnant and doesn’t know who the father.

Then the MC put a hit out on Brock and Peyton. Through all the events they face together. And everything they going through. Brock and Peyton somehow found their HEA.

Jacie Lennon does a fantastic job with King of Regret. She bring us drama passion love and darkness. She will have you on the edge of seat. She has fantastic new characters as while bring back new characters. Overall a great book. Can’t read Bodhi story next.

Ohhhmy….I enjoyed reading all about Brock, Payton, Bodhi, Corbin, and Landry. Brock did redeem himself a little from King of Nothing, book 1 from the Boys of Almadale. Payton and Brock had hooked up and got together for all the wrong reasons and they got a surprise that turned things around for them. I loved the ending of King of Regrets and how everything worked itself out. It was one surprise after another with all the twist and turns that Payton and Brock had to go through. I highly recommend King of Regrets and can wait to see what is going to happen in King of Denial between Bodhi and Trixie. Jacie Lennon, author did a wonderful job with the world and characters in the Boys of Almadale series. Jacie’s characters were easy to fall in love with and empathize with. They did a lot of growing up and had to face situations that some people have a hard time dealing with at any age. I hope everyone will enjoy this series as much as I did.

We met Brock, along with his twin brother Bodhi and their best friend Corbin in the first book in this series, 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠.
I guess you could say he's the leader of the Kings ( all three boys who pretty much have a hold/control) of their whole private school.

One night while out on the other side of town Brock bumps into Peyton, who he got kicked out of Almadale Prep 2 yrs prior, she states to him she is looking for revenge on her ex, a one night stand revenge. She really wants to get back at her ex, who Brock dislikes.

Not long after she gets in touch with Brock about a situation.... something that will be coming in about 8 more months.

Ohhh, this book turned wayyyyy different than I thought it was going to in so many different ways! Drama, danger, violence, and perhaps another side of Brock we never thought we'd see?

I love Jacie and her writing. 💕 You literally feel fully immersed in the story as you read it. I did not want to put it down, it was just as great as the first one, perhaps even better.

Jacie, you are an amazing writer, and I cannot wait for Bodhis story!!!

I would like to thank the author Jacie Lennon for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 2nd book in this awesome series and is Brock and Peyton’s story. Brock is one of the kings of Almadale Academy, and Peyton is smart, tough, and resilient, and she earned a scholarship to the academy, but after she is set up she is kicked out and forced to return to stay with her alcoholic and abusive father. After 3-years Peyton and Brock meet at a party and she propositions him to help get ride of her ex, and after one night together, there are unexpected complications. Will Brock be able to keep Peyton and himself protected when they end up as targets from the MC? This is a beautifully written story which is dark, intense, and with violence, danger, drama, action, vengeance, and love. I was hooked and intrigued throughout this riveting page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this gifted author, whose work I recommend for all.

This is the second book in The Boys of Almadale series and it is Brock and Peyton’s story. Brock is the BMOC of Almadale Prep and can have his pick of the girls that attend. Peyton is a girl who breaks up with her boyfriend Drake but he does not take the hint. In order to drive the point home, Peyton decides to hook up with Brock, Drake’s enemy. However, she gets more than she bargains for which sets off a chain of events that lead to some serious consequences for all involved. This is one book that has a little bit of everything which makes it one heck of a read. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the first book in the series to meet the other students/characters. I cannot wait to read Bodhi’s story next. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.

This was a decent read and I did enjoy it. This is book 2 in this series.

We follow Brock and Peyton-

A one-night stand that turns into an accidental pregnancy. The only problem? Peyton doesn’t know who the dad is and she is still in high school. Peyton was looking forward to graduating and being able to leave her crappy home to make something of herself. But now being young and pregnant is going to make that difficult.

This book had a bit of drama which is to be expected with the age of the characters. Honestly this was pretty good. While Brock seemed like this tough guy in book 1, it was nice getting to know him. As we learn more about his character, the person he is makes more sense too.

Brocks redemption....OMG...Jacie Lennon has done it again. This is the second book in the Boys of Almadale series. In the first book I couldn't stand Brock and in book two I totally fell in love with him. Brock and Peyton come from two very different worlds. Although he comes from money and she does not they both suffer from things that happened in their childhood. Brock and Peyton hook up to get it through Drake's head (her ex) that they are FINISHED. A few months later she finds herself pregnant and not knowing who the father is. The story really picks up from this point with suspense, MC members, and mafia as well. Get ready for a wild ride as Brock and Peyton find their HEA.

Lennon came back with a vengeance and so did the kings!

Next up for the kings is Brock who has a history of a love them and leave them mentality. Enter Peyton, who for just one night, who blows all of the other girls put of the other. Those two little pink lines from one of fun ensures life will never be the same.

Brock will quickly realize just how much Peyton means, and she realizes that maybe the cover isn't all it seems.

This book had a great plot and storyline. Both of these characters have to look deep inside to see how strong they can be be when pushed. This book flowed better then first and I have high hopes for the next one!

3.5/5 ⭐️
2.5/5 🌶

Tropes:
- dark(ish) high school romance
- surprise/accidental pregnancy
- rich boy x poor girl
- one night stand
- father of the baby is a mystery (between hero & her ex)
- suspense & drama
- academy setting (kinda)

POV: first person - dual

Type: interconnected stand-alone (book two)

I wanted more from the actual pregnancy aspect. Yes, it was relevant but the plot focused heavily on the “who’s the father?” part as well as the drama between both sides of town “rich vs poor”.

Also the abrupt ending chapter going into the epilogue had no transition (I hadn’t even noticed I had reached the epilogue).

But I was entertained so there’s that.

King of Regret is the second book in the Boys of Almadale series. This book is told from Brock and Peyton's points of views. Brock is one of the kings of Almadale. Peyton used to go there, but was suspended for fighting.

One night at the party Peyton hooks up with Brock as a payback to her ex-boyfriend. Now a few months later she is pregnant and she doesn't know if it is Brock's or the other guy's. When Brock finds out he may be the father he also finds out that other guy has put a hit out on his life.

Brock has money and this other guy doesn't, but Peyton's father sold her to the other guy. Brock does everything he can to protect Peyton and her baby. But at what risks to his life is he willing to take?

Does Peyton end up with Brock or the other guy? Can she keep her baby safe? Can she keep Brock safe? I liked this book and can't wait for the next one in the series!
