Boys of Almadale #1

King of Nothing

Rate this book
She’s the one thing he wants nothing—and everything—to do with.

Corbin

I’m one of the kings at Almadale Prep.

I act the part, put on the mask, do my duty.

But lies and betrayal aren’t a game to me, no matter how well my fellow kings play.

So, when Landry arrives, invading my life and my thoughts, I try to forget her.

Forget her long brown hair, piercing blue eyes, and the patient way she breaks through my walls.

She gets under my skin, but my secrets make wanting her impossible.

My brothers hate her, and I should hate her too.

She threatens everything I’ve been working toward.

In my world, it’s hard to become a king … but easy to fall off the throne.

Landry

Moving across the country to attend the prestigious Almadale Prep for my senior year of school wasn’t in my plans.

Neither was gaining two new brothers and their friend as my personal tormentors.
They hate me on sight, and I have no idea why.

I try to steer clear of them, but that’s not so easy when Corbin’s moss-green eyes, magnetic touch, and seemingly hard facade keep me fascinated.

I shouldn’t let him take over my thoughts and my heart.

I shouldn’t be reeling when he pulls away just as fast.

He says I’m no good for him, but I might be exactly what he needs.

In this world, it’s hard to handle the kings… but easy to fall for one.

King of Nothing is a bully romance. It contains themes that may be uncomfortable for some readers.

'KING OF NOTHING' is the first full length romance book by new to me author Jacie Lennon's 'Boys of Almadale' series. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

I'm glad I took a chance on a new to me author and gave this book a go, I enjoyed that it wasn't a full on bully book which made for a nice change, a few twists were thrown in which gave it a unique aspect which I didn't see coming. It definitely held my attention throughout and was nothing like I was expecting it to be, which was a good thing. Now I'm holding out for the next book!

Landry is the new girl in town, leaving her father who travels the world to move in with her estranged mother and her new husband, the day she arrives is the day she finds out that she'll also have two twin brothers (Brock & Bodhi) a year older than her, but that's not all, with them comes their best friend, Corbin.

These three are the 'Kings' of Aladale High, they rule the school. They hate Landry on sight and don't hide the fact. They think she's hiding something and they won't stop until they uncover the truth.

Straight away there's an underlying attraction between Landry and Corbin.
Corbin is on a scholarship and he can't afford to act on it because it could destroy everything he's working towards.

King of nothing is the first book of the 'boys of Almadale' series , written by Jacie Lennon. Told in dual perspectives, this book was an amazing read by this new-to-me author.

When I first read this book , I thought it was a bully Romance read. However it much much more. There were a few aspects of bullying , but there were a lot of other things that Intrigued me! This was the first book that I have read by this author and I will be surely reading a lot more of her work!

Landry has recently shifted to a new town and has moved in with her stepfather. What she doesn't know is that , with her step father come his two sons - Brock and Bodhi. They hate her on sight and don't try to disguise that fact. However , there is also an additional person that comes with the twins. The king of the school , who makes her heart race - Corbin. No matter how much she tries to deny the fact , she is attracted to Corbin.

Corbin and the twins are determined to destroy the new girl. They want to uncover her secrets and don't care what happens to her in the process. The underlying tension between Corbin and Laundry , only seems to complicate things.

This book is recommended to all the bully romance lovers out there! This book is amazing on many levels and has twists and turns that will keep you at the edge of seat throughout the whole book!

Well, this was just an okay bully high school romance read for me. Nothing special, same plot to every Bully HS Romance out there. The first 60% mark was so boring I don't feel connected with any of the characters, not so much banter, the angst wasn't enough for me. Such a shame this could have been a 5 star read, a lot of potentials to be. But the plot and characters aren't developed enough in my opinion. Still this wasn't a bad book by any means, there are so much out there and I'm banking more on a neutral> touches.

King of Nothing is a light paced bully romance.

Landry is the new girl in town and Corbin and her new step brothers are the kings of the school. While her twin stepbrothers are determined that she's hiding someting and are on a mission to find what exactly that is, she can not hide under Corbins heated looks. He's such a sweet guy. Never mind his own problems, he just can't stay away. And she's so drawn to him. They oozed chemistry.

With a little mystery going on, there aren't any dull moments. In fact it grabs your attention and doesn't let go.

This was such a beautiful story. I can not wait for more by this author.

Universal Link

Landry's not sure what she did to deserve the wrath of her steps and their bestie, but she can deal with it but for the tiny problem that she's attracted to Corbin...

As bully romances go, this one is fairly light. It's still interesting, though, a bit twisty, and great reading. Corbin and Landry have serious chemistry, and I love how their relationship played out, from him trying to deny how he felt, to the very last page. I will definitely be on the lookout for more from this author.

This book was absolutely perfection!!!

I was hooked from the very first page and I just simply couldn’t stop reading. ( great job JACIE at grabbing my attention without letting it go 😂) .

This book had the right combination of bully, angst, drama, steaminess, banter galore and surprises you don’t see coming.

Landry is the new girl in town and the new target for the most popular boys of Almadale High ( Brock, Bodhi and Corbin). This three are dangerous and so sexy at the same time. Landry doesn’t exactly know why they hate her so much besides been Brock and Bodhi step sibling but who catches her attention is Corbin.

I love Corbin’s character so much, besides hid broody and bully exterior he has so much feelings inside of him. He is loyal, caring and loves deep those who he considers family. He wants to fight the attraction he has towards Landry but it’s so hard. She has sparked something in him that he didn’t want in the first place.

There are twist and turns you don’t see coming and this book gave a great start to the series and now I’m desperately waiting for what’s going to happen next.

I loved KoN! It was captivating, funny, and DIFFERENT. Landry, the FMC, is a character you love right off the bat. She’s relatable, witty, and strong. She didn’t take anything from ANYONE. And CORBIN. He’s unlike any MC I’ve read. He’s sensitive and sweet. You fall in love as soon as you get in his head. Both people are faced with trials and it all comes down to loyalty. This book will definitely pull at your heartstrings more than once.

This is a light fast paced bully romance.
Landry is the new girl in town and Corbin and her new step brothers are the king of the school. Fireworks quickly explode between Corbin and Landry, and you quickly realize everything is not what it seems.
This is a new to me author, and I can't wait for the next book. It was steamy, interesting, and a HEA guaranteed. ♥

“I should hate you.”

From the moment I sank into Jacie Lennon’s King of Nothing, I was instantly smitten. Insta love of the characters and their story. The sensational soap opera-worthy storyline, the raw and riveting writing, the emotionally complex and combustible characters, and all the delicious angst make this YA romance pure heart-pounding pleasure. Fire and fury.

King of Nothing is a tale of a heroine who’s supposed to be the enemy—a queen among kings—and a hero who can’t help but want to save her. They can’t help but save each other. The chemistry between Corbin and Landry is combustible and their connection inevitable. I adored both of them—so strong and stunning. Perfection together.

A spellbinding saga of smolder, secrets, and sin, King of Nothing is an engaging, page-turning YA romance. I was addicted to this heart-racing roller of ups and downs, a constant rush while reading. My only wish is that for a bullying romance ... well ... I wanted more bullying as it’s only scant in this story. Overall, it’s a well-written, gripping YA that was my guilty pleasure. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the series.

This was my first book by this author and I am anxious to see how big the bullying will be in the next books. I have a feeling it will be worse since the twins Brock and Bohdi were alittle harsher than Corbin. I really liked Landry & Corbin together even though he wasnt as big of a bully as the twins. I absolutely LOVED the cover to this book. Its what drew me in. I will definitely be reading the next book. I love all the mystery, deception and secrets. Great book for a first time author to me.

New to me author, light bully romance. These "Kings" are not criminal masterminds or super intuitive spies and game players. These are rich kids with big egos and nothing really to back it up. While a lot of this was refreshing, Corbin just gave me a really insecure vibe and I had a hard time warming up to him. He did not strike me at any time like any kind of Alpha King student. Mostly he seemed like a lost puppy afraid to rock the boat for fear of alienating his only friends and connection to the good life. Laney, for a kid that had traveled the world for most of her life, seemed very immature and unworldly but I like that she did the right thing and didn't get sucked into the drama her mom created.

Everytime I glance at this cover, it looks like the model is sucking his thumb.

Both Laney and Corbin find their attraction to each other magnetic and inconvenient while trying to figure out how to achieve their goals. Corbin has big shoes to fill and Laney has a relationship with her mother, new stepfather and step brothers to navigate.

There were a lot of areas that I wanted to smack both Laney and Corbin and I think Laney was way to forgiving but it was an average read that kept my attention most of the time.

The sex scenes - and there were a lot of those, were really, really long. I ended up skimming a lot of it even though they had a hotness to them, they got boring.

There were also unbelievable twists and coincidences that I just didn't buy into and the total absence of Laney's father was dumb.

I'm semi intrigued about the twins but if the next books don't come out soon, I'll forget about this series.

From page one I was reeled into this world and these characters—I’m so torn up I need to say goodbye for now and can’t wait to submerge myself into other books to come in the series.

Their story is the perfect mix-up of angst, drama, secrets, twists and chemistry. Seriously, the chemistry and steam between these two is something to be highly envious of.

The character building was an A-plus and did justice to not only the H and h, but the supporting characters too. I’m completely smitten with each of them and invested in each story that’s to come—a hard hurdle to pull-off for an author in any series and Jacie does it simply and seamlessly in book one.

This has got to be THE best light-bully book I’ve stumbled on. Corbin is so on and off with Landry and I’m a total sucker for the push and pull in the fight against emotions. The best part is that it was all believable—I really struggle with high school books that are far fetched and packed with situations that are hard to believe.

This is a perfect book for anyone looking to dip a toe into the bully book pool. You won’t be getting yourself into more than you can handle and be scared away thinking people who enjoy bully books are certifiably insane. The darkness isn’t TOO heavy to handle and in my opinion it’s free of any super sensitive triggers and topics.

It’s undeniable that I NEED more of the Three Kings in my life so I’ll just be impatiently waiting for them to come back to me.

All I can say is WOW! Jacie did an amazing job with the sizzling chemistry between Corbin and Landry! I love this couple so much! Both felt like real characters and once Corbins backstory was uncovered, I just fell in love with him even more! The writing style really spoke to me, and the banter and unexpected twists had me racing to turn each page!

'KING OF NOTHING' is the first full-length romance novel I read by Jacie Lennon. This is Book # 1 in the 'Boys of Almadale' series. I am so happy I was given this ARC by the author, to read and review, because this is the first book I read by Jacie Lennon and it will definitely not be my last. I am very impressed by her story line for these characters and the way she keeps the reader enthralled and not bored at all.

The book’s premise is the following: Landry’s, female lead, mom marries a millionaire named Chester. Chester has twin boys named Bodhi and Brock. The twins have a best friend, who is always over at the house, Corbin. These 3 are the 'Kings' of Aladale High, they literally rule the school and they hate Landry on sight and don't hide the fact. They think Landry’s hiding something and they won't stop until they uncover the truth, therefore they are not happy to have Landry living with them, but why?

Straight away there's an underlying attraction between Landry and Corbin, but being part of the 3 he cannot let his feelings get in the way and he partakes in the ‘bullying’ of Landry, but not to the extent that the twins go to. You need to read this book to see the depths of what these will do to uncover Landry’s “secret.”

This is where we see that Ms. Lennon throws in some amazing plot twists and secrets in the mix to make the book even more interesting to read. Twists were immediately thrown in which gave it a unique aspect which I didn't see coming. It definitely held my attention throughout and was nothing like I was expecting it to be, which was a good thing. Now I cannot wait to read Book # 2!

This is my first read from this author and it’s a light bully romance.

Landry is the new girl and when she meets the guys there are definitely some sparks there. There are a few twists and turns which I really enjoyed. This isn’t a full on bully romance just some slight bullying.

This definitely grabbed my attention from the beginning!

I can’t wait for more! 4 stars

'I'm drawn to him like a moth to a flame, like a deer to headlights, like... well, like any cliche where one is drawn to something pretty but ends up dying in the process'

King of Nothing is a great start to the Almadale Prep series! The book tells the story of Landry, whose Mother has just married her third husband, and Corbin, who is just trying to reach eighteen and get custody of his brother. The two of them are really great main characters and the story is told in a dual firs person narrative POV which means that throughout we are given an insight into both of their minds and decisions.

The chemistry between Landry and Corbin is there from the beginning and man am I here for it! This was on steamy read for sure!

The plot of this book was enjoyable and not a typical book set in an Academy which I was happy about. Don't get me wrong, I love an academy bully book as much as the next girl but sometimes the plots are too similar which shades the enjoyment factor a lil bit - of the others, not King of Nothing.

Brock, Bodhi and Trixie are great friend characters to Landry and Corbin and honestly they had me cracking up laughing. The witty remarks they had were so good and I am so looking forward to book two which will feature them even more!

I would say that this book is a light Bully romance and is nowhere near as dark as some other Bully books on the market! Meaning that I would recommend this book as a great starter to the Bully genre; especially if you are unsure as to whether this genre is for you. The bullying never goes too far to be redeemable!
It is also one of the first Prep school Bully books I've read that isn't also a Reverse Harem which makes a pleasant change!

This book captivated me and I had to know what was happening from the start. It was like a mystery to see what each character was hiding and how it would turn out.

Landry has no clue that moving schools her senior year that she would inherit two twin step brothers, Brock and Bodhi, along with their best friend Corbin who were known as The Three Kings of Almadale Prep. She lived with her Dad mostly so, moving in with her mom and her new husband was also something new to her. She also had no clue that everyone had secrets.

The Three Kings went right to work at making Landry feel not welcome but Corbin had a softer side to him when it came to her. Their first encounter it seemed like love at first sight. The relationship between her and the twins was tense. She had no clue what they were trying to pin on her and her mother, until she did.

Corbin discovered life altering secrets about his biological parents thanks to his best friend Brock. He finally wasn’t just the scholarship student anymore, he was a higher rank then them. All he wanted was his little brother Abe to be safe and the girl of his dreams.

Her mom being deceitful and divorced, Chester Montgomery decided to embrace Landry and she was still part of the family. Her relationship with Brock and Bodhi was better. The chemistry between Landry and Corbin was one to make you cheer for them! Everything was finally in place for all of them. No more secrets, just love and family!

I'm really interested to read more about these characters. One of my reading guilty pleasures is the school bully theme. The genre usually has a major angst and tension between the H/h and a warming payoff with the reveal of why the bullying (usually protecting the h from something) and his intense feelings. On the other hand it can be awkward for me as an adult to see teens (16-18 year olds) playing overconfident adults. This one had several very experienced sex scenes - definitely no fumbling or inexperience for these two 17 year olds. This one is a bit lighter on the bullying side mostly as several instances were dropped or very brief.

I liked the buildup to the series, but I had questions about Corbin's family that felt unanswered. I hope we see more from them and an explanation about his brother. It's left mid-year of their senior year so I'm excited to see where Corbin and Landry end up and if there are answers. I'm really looking forward to Trixie's story!!

If you like Rachel Van Dyken's early Eagle Elite series, I think you'll like the world the author has developed at Almadale.

King of Nothing has a variety of twist, turns, and things going sideways with a lot of emotions thrown into the mix. King Of Nothing is the first book in the Boys of Almadale Series. King Of Nothing will capture your attention from the very beginning to the end. Even though King Of Nothing is part of a series it didn’t end with a cliffhanger. Readers will be happy to know it ends with a HEA. I enjoyed reading it so much that I did not want any interruptions or to have to put it down. It was easy to fall in love with Brock, Bohdi, Corbin, Trixie, Abe and Landry as they are easy to relate to and author, Jacie Lennon, did a fantastic job with how she described them. Jacie created a world that was a good background for the Boys of Almadale. I can’t wait to find out what happens with Trixie. I want to know if Trixie will be saved in the end from her arranged marriage and who Brock is constantly on the phone with and what secrets he is keeping from the group. After I am done writing my review I will be diving into King of Regrets since the trilogy is already complete there is not waiting to start the next book in the series!

Being the new kid is never fun, being the new kid at a private school with step-brothers you had no clue about, just plain sucks butt. Add in the fact that they hate your guts and have already tortured you a bit, and things look downright bleak. Ever since her parent's divorce, Landry has been with her father traveling the world, now it's time for her to move in with her mom and meet the new family that she knows nothing about. Her twin step-brothers and their best friend make up the triad that rule Almadale. They seem to be intent on making her regret her existence, but there is something about Corbin that Landry just can't seem to ignore. When Corbin starts showing her attention, Landry is unsure if this is just him doing the twins' bidding or are his intentions real? Landry has no clue how to navigate this new life she found herself in, but hopefully Corbin won't make her regret trusting him.

I love bully romances, no clue why I just do. I really wanted this to be a better story than it was. Don't get me wrong this was ok, filled with some drama and a few naughty moments, I just felt that it was a bit rushed, and there are loads of unanswered questions, but I am assuming those come in the next book. I give this 4 stars.

When I read the blurb for this book I expected a typical bully romance. Although there is a fair amount of bullying, it just doesn’t hit the mark for me. I did love the story though... Landry moves across the country to live with her mother whom she doesn’t really have a relationship with since she’s lived and traveled with her father. Little does she know... she has twin stepbrothers. Brock and Bodhi along with their best friend Corbin rule Almadale Prep. Corbin is the scholarship kid who was taken under the wing of Brock and Bodhi. Corbin is fighting his feelings for Landry because he is focusing on his plan to keep his brother Abe safe from his neglectful grandparents. Brock is trying to figure out what Landry’s sudden appearance is for. Bodhi is hung up on Landry’s new roommate Trixie.

I really liked Corbin and I think that Bodhi has potential. Landry, Brock and Trixie were average. The ending felt a bit rushed and I feel like we’re missing some closure for this couple. I know we’ll get pieces from Brock and Bodhi’s books but... I need to know while I’m still in Corbin and Landry land.

Jackie Lennon is a new to me author and I’m so glad I gave this a go! Such an awesome book full of drama, tension, angst and a plot line I haven’t seen in any other bully academy romance before.
.
I didn’t read the blurb so I didn’t know what to expect so when I read this, I was amazed and pleasantly surprised. Instant chemistry between Landry and Corbin. Reading their journey and the ups and down was a ride I’d happily go on again. I didn’t realise how invested and completely captivated I was until I reached the end and realised I have consumed this book.
.
So gripping and addicting you don’t want to stop reading. Surprises and a twist I’m living for. The world building was awesome, believable, vivid and tones of realism it was hard to pull out of. Characters were so well written, they were clear in differences and personalities yet there was always something new to discover about them all and different sides to them that you are always changing your mind about them.
.
Amazing book. I can’t wait to see what the next one has in store for us.

The king of nothing I would argue that title because I think maybe that’s only the beginning. This is the first book in the series I am to believe each book will be a standalone featuring different characters from this book! It’s a bully_ish romance with an HEA no cheating!
So they story begins with Landry coming to live with her estranged birth mom and her new husband and his twin boys and their best friend Corbin who might as well live there! They think she knows something and she has no clue .. but as a few days go by Landry can’t deny her attraction to Corbin and even though he really wants to like her, it doesn’t seem to be what he needs. He has bigger worries and pressures and he has Abe to worry about.
it’s a pretty quick read but I really enjoyed it, there is some sex and it’s super hot.. there are a few twist and turns though out the story and not everything is as it seems! I will definitely be reading from this author again thank you for the journey!! I received this book for an honest review !!

Landry has just moved with her mom who she hadn’t lived with in years only to have her be remarried with two stepsons Landry’s age and their best friend, Corbin. They weren’t too welcoming but something about Corbin that drew her in and vice versa. She was the first girl that ever caught Corbin’s attention but he had a loyalty to his best friends. But Landry was a tough cookie and she was also feisty; she wasn’t easily broken down. Things shifted between her and Corbin after so many back and forth and boy did he have his work cut out for him. Eventually they all started getting along especially when they actually took the time to get to know her; they protected her something fierce even their own dad took her in like his own. Corbin also discovered something from his childhood that he had no idea about which dynamics for him in his household especially with his younger brother who he was very attached to. Great start to the series.

King of Nothing is an enjoyable bully romance about king of almadale prep Corbin and his heroine Landry. Landry is moved to a new rich prep school where she meets twin step brothers and their best friend Corbin. The twins believe Landry is scheming against their family and want to bully her and find evidence will Corbin fights an instant attraction to Landry. Landry is caught in the middle of secrets and thrown into a new school at one. Corbin is a jealous possessive alpha that isnt too over the top and has a seriously sweet side and intentions. Im super intrigued to hear more about Trixie and Bohdi. This book had some steamy scenes to satisfy readers and complex family dynamics. Overall i enjoyed this book and will read the next in this series.

This was my first book from Jacie Lennon but it won't be the last. Landry moves to live with her mom and everything won't go that well first for her because her two new step brothers don't like her. They show it to her also. They have a friend who tries to do same as brothers but he can't. I really liked both Landry and Corbin. They were so good together. I loved how Corbin were with his little brother and how he wanted what is best for him. There were some what I didn't see coming and I can't wait to read next book.

King of Nothing follows the story of Corbin and Landry. What should have never happened between two people did and I am here for it. I really did no see some off the plot twists thrown into the book but it’s refreshing when reading an academy bully book. I’m interested to see what happens with the twins especially after getting an insight on the Kings and knowing they aren’t as hard as they perceive themselves to be.

This was a perfect first book in the Boys of Almadale series. This book was so much more than a bully romance and I could not have enjoyed it more. Yes, there was bullying, angst and loads of steamy goodness but there was also the underlying theme of family. These characters loved hard and fought for those they cared about. This was a very enjoyable read but it was over before I was ready to leave this world. All the characters were intriguing and I am looking forward to the upcoming books in this series. This was my first read by this extremely talented author but it surely will not be the last. I can not recommend this book highly enough.

The King of Nothing gives us a glimpse into the lives of Corbin, Brock and Bohdi as the kings of the 1% at their prep school. They are bully’s and poor Landry is the new step-sister who is on the receiving end of the majority of their bully wrath. While Corbin is not quite like the rest, his loyalty to his brothers make the ugly side show strong. After side steps and heart aches and a little motorcycle sexy time, you get to the bottom of the bullying and get that sweet little HEA.
