“I believe it is what you do with that time that helps you learn how to coexist with the death of your children”
The thought of losing your child can be horrifying, but how do you cope with it when it does happen? Journey to Healing by Lisa K. Boehm is a heart and soul’s guide to help aid with loss, sorrow, and grief. Lisa lost her only daughter Katie in a car accident at the age of 17, shock in trauma Lisa knew she had to move on in life without Katie. She shares her experience of how to accept pain and sorrow by living a life that will honor her daughter. There are questioners at the end of each lesson to help you gain a better understanding of the path to healing.
My first impression was, I’m going to read about a person’s journey to healing, but I didn’t look carefully to notice “a mother’s guide to navigating child loss”. Still, I decided to give this book a chance and read it. Honestly, it’s not bad at all. In my opinion, It’s more of a how-to book than just a story which gives the readers more value. It teaches the reader how to live the best life that honors their loss child (if any) and to live with a new intention. There’s a good amount of information that you can comprehend with and it’s not overload with a bunch of nonsense. After finishing the book, I learn a great deal of gratitude for my life and others around me even though I’m not a mom. Reading Lisa’s story, I felt connected to her words and feelings, I can relate to them as well. Reading the book was effortless and easy to understand.
I recommend this book to those that lost their loved ones. The teachings can also be applied to other family members who passed away, not just children. Hope you all enjoy my review and happy readings everyone.
Book is well written and offers practical insight to healing after child loss. It is not lengthy and I will most likely reread it in it's entirety or specific chapters as needed. I especially appreciate the author's message of hope during the grieving and healing process and her recommended strategies . I am grateful to have found this book when I did and I would recommend it to other angel moms who are looking for hope and a way forward after experiencing the devastation of child loss. It would also be helpful for supporters to read.
Journey to Healing by Lisa K. Boehm begins with a story about a suitcase. Lisa uses a suitcase analogy to describe the grief journey in a simple, yet profound manner. The book is well written and we'll researched. I appreciate Lisa sharing her healing journey after losing her precious Katie.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Wise and heartfelt word from someone who knows! I am thinking of this to give every mother I know who has lost a child! Great advice for friends and relatives as well!
Healing book. It was written by a mother who has gone through the loss of a child and has many short stories on other moms experiences as well. It is all about hope and strategies to help us cope as move forward without our child’s physical presence in our daily lives.
