It was a simple moment at the beginning of summer. Klara was sprawled out on the couch, flipping through her favorite novel and wafting away her great-grandmother’s smoke when all of a sudden, she hastily closed the book and spoke. “Sometimes I think Father just doesn’t understand that I’m not a child anymore. But the truth is, I’m not. I’m growing into a woman, and a soph ...more

One of my favorite books! I was not prepared to LOVE this books as much as I did. The title might have thrown me off because although I am a fan of Kenzie’s other books I just wasn’t thinking I bet this book is going to be amazing.... but it freaking was. Klara and Eddies love story is perfect. Young romantic innocent first love that makes you swoon with just the right amount of passion and sizzle to keep you entertained and waiting more! Cordelia is sassy and funny and makes you wish she was yo ...more

This is a sweet love story with a light and whimsical flair that kept my interest to see the story out but I found myself often confused about the setting. It gives a feel as though it is set perhaps in the early 1900's English countryside, yet there are references to modern day amenities and this confusion I think kept me from being able to fully immerse in the story. ...more

The main word that repeatedly came to mind when I first started this book was "whimsical." I knew that this book was set in the English country side so I'm sure that setting helped put that descriptor in my mind. The description of Klara's quirkiness and Eddie's interest in her uniqueness also built towards this feeling. Considering Klara's love for children's literature, I'm sure she would have loved the use of this word to describe her story. The budding friendship and romance of Eddie and Kla ...more

3.5 STARS: This was a first by this author for me, I did enjoy the book. The genre is different than my normal read, but I found this book to be sweet and whimsical. The setting was difficult to nail down but that did not deter from the story for me, I did have a difficult time connecting with characters which at times made it challenging to continue with the book. I feel that for me that the story or plot was there, but it was hard to keep with the characters because of th

This book was exactly what I needed at the moment! It was very much a sweet and lighthearted story. I was able to predict some of the storyline, but that did not stop me from turning to the next page and watching it unfold. I loved being able to see the relationship building and the overall growth of all the characters in this book. I will definitely check out some other books by Kenzie Hart!

I got chills at the ending of this beautiful book. Kenzi has made this magical and heartbreaking book into something out of this world. It’s hard not to give away any spoilers. Klaras life is a magical place living in children’s literature until Edward. Read to find out how much one summer and two people can change one another

A sweet, whimsical story. I loved the setting of this book. The author did a great job describing the setting making you feel like you were right there with the characters. And well, the characters were just fun to read.

Edward and Klara were quite a joy to watch as their friendship blossomed into so much more. Although they are young you never question their feelings for each other and they definitely brought the best out in each other. Klara, although troubled, was a ray of sunshine and she de

This was a sweet YA romance with a little twist of mystery. Klara was an interesting well developed character and I absolutely loved “figuring her out” along the journey. Eddie was perfectly swoon worthy! My absolute favourite character was Klara’s Grandmother, Cordelia! She made me howl. The plot line was extremely well developed. It was a delightful coming of age story.

There were a two things that bumped a few points off for me. Firstly, it took me around the 20% mark

If you’re looking for an enchanting whimsical story, look no further. Kenzie is back with a wonderful story; full of adventures, life, and finding love. I was quite taken with the heroine, Klara. She’s a joy and very special. The hero, Eddie, as well as a major secondary character, also won me over.

This book puts life into perspective from a young woman’s eyes. It’s quite an experience to walk in her shoes, all the while learning about her life and seeing how she loves everything so greatly. I

This is my first read from Kenzie Hart and I really enjoyed it. This was a tamer read but it left my dying to read more from her. I love her style of writing and I loved the way her story flowed.

This was a light and heart filled read. I fell for the characters for the start and I loved that I could be completely addicted and not have it be drama filled.

I loved that this wasn't necessarily a retelling but you got the whimsical feel that you were hoping for with the setting.

The writing...this story reminded me of a Jane Austen book set in the 1900's. Beautiful and a different era. I like to go into books without reading the synopsis. That's exactly what I did with this one.
It seems to be based in England countryside, but I envisioned it more of a Plantation style in Southern Louisiana. The scenes were beautiful.
I did struggle to keep engaged with the story, but was determined to finish the book. It wasn't until I got around 80% through that I wanted to keep reading to know what was going to happen.
While I appreciate the story, I found it slow.

The curious Swan is a sweet romance novel centred around Klara and Eddie. It's an engaging read but slightly predictable in it's delivery. Those looking for an enjoyable romance will not be disappointed.

The writing style is elegant but can be a bit jarring at times. The curious swan almost reads like a Jane Austen novel, but the Historical English Countryside feel is then suddenly broken as references from modern day technology are made breaking the scene that has been set.

This review is very hard for me to write and I’m probably going to be the minority here, but I could not finish this book.

When I go into books I try really hard to finish them, even if I don’t like them at first; because it could change. However, I could not get into this book at all! I didn’t connect with the characters, so I didn’t really care what happened to them. I really like Kenzie’s writing and will try to read more of her books in the future, but this was just not the book for me.

This book was a sweet page-turner that was just what I needed. I love the cover it’s so fun and unique.

I really enjoyed the characters and watching Edward and Klara’s friendship blossom. The chemistry they have is perfect you don’t question what their feelings are for each other. The perfect story about first loves and growing up.

If you are a fan of YA books you need to read this one. It will captivate you and have you turning the pages as fast as you can. I really enjoyed the The Curious Swan

I got an ARC of this book, and it was a cute book that was light-hearted for the most part. It was really slow to get going, and I almost didn't finish it because of that. I felt like the plot was a little bland because when I finally got to the end, it felt like it abruptly ended. Part of me wishes that where the book ended would have been the climax and then have Klara and Eddie's story continue from there. By the end I was hooked into the different characters and their stories though, so I ho ...more

As I started this book I was immediately enthralled with the main character. Who is this lovely, but seemingly troubled girl?
I wasnt sure what I was expecting from this story but what I got was more than I imagined.
The way Kenzie weaves multiple story lines together is perfect. I was sucked in and unable to put the story down.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good love story.

This is such a beautiful story! It reminds me of a book written at a different time. Klara is sheltered and kind of broken. Eddie is trying to make his father happy by taking over the family business even though it not what he wants to do. Both of them have there have their own problems, yet when they are together they it is perfect. The Curious Swan is a wonderful sweet romance and I fell in love with their story!

What a sweet and whimsical story of young love. The story is set in the English countryside and there are a lot of details surrounding that through out. It was a little hard for me to get into the story due to this, but it ultimately made for a much richer experience in the end. Some of the outcomes could be predicted, but there are a few twists and turns along the way which kept it interesting. This is a great book for those looking for a light read and sweet romance.

The writing makes you feel like it’s set in a different era, but then there were things making it feel like it was today’s time period, like Eddie having a cell phone and some of the language that was used. That was a little confusing for me. Overall, the story was cute and I would say Cordelia (the grandmother) was my favorite character.

I was given an eARC copy from the author for a honest review. This was a mostly peaceful easy feeling read that had me thinking I was back in the 1800s or early 1900s. The book is about Klara's own fairytale that happens around her 17th birthday. Some of Klara's personality reminded me of my own. I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy romance with a hint of mystery and history. ...more

What a wonderful whimsical book. Such a sweet telling of a developing love story between Klara and Edward. The writing is very light yet utterly descriptive. It’s almost as if you can see and smell what the characters do. Some of the story line is predictable but that doesn’t stop one from continuing. I would love to see more of them as the grow and attend university.

This is a beautifully written coming-of-age story of Klara and Eddie. The descriptions make you feel as if you are in the English Countryside sitting in a serene meadow, or secret garden, or hidden forest. The hint of darkness throughout the light storyline keeps you entraced. The Curious Swan is a wonderful YA book!

This is the second book written by new author Kenzie Hart and I’ve loved both. Kenzie has a unique voice that in this book is reminiscent of Jane Austin.
