The Clockwork Almanac #2

Clockwork Octopus

Rate this book
Victoria Greene always thought that returning to London would put her life back in some sort of order. The adventure was over, the mission completed, and she assumed she could continue her work with machines in peace, but Vic should have known that such a thing was not possible. Instead, she suddenly finds herself dealing with judgmental Elite, the corrupt High Council, and the certainty that London has deeper secrets than she ever knew. When the Queen of England sends Vic and her men on yet another task of the highest importance, Vic is relieved, if only to escape the city that feels less like home than an airship.

But Vic is not the only one racing around the world. The High Council is on their tail, and they have no qualms about doing anything it takes to win.

Now, the Lost City of Kásskara beckons, and with Bram, Emory, Jules, and Jed by her side, Vic must find the sunken world fast. There are too many perplexities surrounding the disappearance of Kásskara and no one wants to speak its name.

Some cities should never be discovered. Some machines should never be created. Some secrets were meant to die in the past.

And sometimes, it is better to follow the compass than the clock. . .

Kendra Moreno is secretly a spy but when she’s not dealing in secrets and espionage, you can find her writing her latest adventure. She lives in Texas where the summer days will make you melt, and southern charm comes free with every meal. She’s a recovering Road Rager (kind of) and slowly overcoming her Star Wars addiction (nope!), and she definitely didn’t pass on her addiction to her son (she did). She has one hellhound named Mayhem who got tired of guarding the Gates of Hell and now guards her home against monsters. She’s a geek, a mother, a scuba diver, a tyrannosaurus rex, and a wordsmith who sometimes switches out her pen for a sword.

If you see Kendra on the streets, don’t worry: you can distract her with talks about Kylo Ren or Loki.

Clockwork Butterfly was one of my top favorite books of 2018, so when I heard that the author was going to write a sequel, I squealed like a tone-deaf dolphin!! I'm so appreciative that we get more adventures with Vic and her men--especially Bram because, hello, he's mine! ALL MINE!--and this current adventure was the perfect escape during these times of isolation.

One thing that really stands out to me about this book was the overall pace. Books that are long can tend to drag on, or get redundant at times, but Clockwork Octopus never had this issue. The journey we got to take was interesting and well thought out and these books are just unique. And I love overall messages in this book that you can be anything, as long as you put your mind to it, and that you shouldn't care about what others think about you or your life because, at the end of the day, its your life!! But my favorite part of this whole book?

THE MEN!!!

Gosh, the men are my favorite part. Don't get me wrong, I adore Vic and admire her for being so kick-butt and amazing, but the parts of this book I lived for were any glimpse of her men (and Gear because, adorable!). My favorite favorite is Bram, I adore that inventor and my love for him will never, NEVER, die. I will fight a b**ch for that man (expect Vic, cause she's scary when she's protective of her men) but you get the point. A surprise, standout, new obsession with her men? Emory. I always had a quiet appreciation for Emory, but he was just so reserved and in the last book, we didn't get to understand or learn anything about him. In this book we get to understand his struggles on a deeper level. And the steamy moments between Vic and Emory?

**Grabs water-bottle, spraying the he** out of myself to cool off**

Um....Emory has been hiding some things and I feel personally attacked we didn't see this side of him last book because...um, like I said, those scenes were....I don't even have any words. Just WOW!!!

Also, the scenes with Jed and his mom was ADORABLE!!! Like, I couldn't, I cried so many times!

Do I recommend this book? Yes. I recommend it so hard. I love it so much. Heck, I'll shove this book in anyone's face if they ask for recommendations. You like RH? **Shoves Clockwork Octopus in your face** You like steampunk stories? **Shoves Clockwork Octopus in your face** You like a kick-a** heroine, amazing story-lines, and an amazing cast of characters?

**SHOVES CLOCKWORK OCTOPUS IN YOUR FACE**

So, yeah, I liked this book. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

~BREAKDOWN OF RATINGS~
✅ Plot~ 5/5
Reminds me of a syfy steampunk version of an Indiana Jones story. Full of adventure, mystery, gadgets, villains, espionage and romance. EXCELLENT!

✅ Character depth ~ 5/5
We see more of the inner workings of each character and some surprising demons that some of the characters have hidden.

✅ Pacing ~ 5/5
It's a BIG book. When there isnt any action, we get character development. Everything is balanced very well.

✅ Hero(es) ~ 5/5
In this book we get to see the dynamics between the men after they've been together for a few months. Here, we get to see the men fall into a more comfortable relationship with Vic. There are still some hesitations with a certain character because he hasn't completely dropped his facade - yet. But when he does, look out!!!

✅ Heroine~ 5/5
There is a delicate dance with the men giving the reigns to Vic when needed. But, they also have no qualms about leading Vic when it's needed. Vic is intelligent, smart but most importantly, willing to listen to her men who have more experience or knowledge in certain areas.

✅ Emotion felt by reader ~ 5/5
I feel connected to all the characters, and this is Kendra's writing ingenuity skills shining at it's brightest.

✅ Slow, medium, fast burn ~ medium?
It's not a focal point, but there are intimate moments with each man.

✅ Se(xxx)y time(s) ~ 5/5
Very HOT, woooweee!! Dominance, a little bit of breath play, voyeurism and masochism. 👌👌🔥🔥🔥

✅ Conclusion ~ 5/5
This adventure comes to a close, but Ms Kendra definitely leaves it open for more adventures. 👏👏

✅ Cliffhanger ~ No

✅ Book Cover ~ 5/5

I have waited so long for the second installment of my first RH book! And now that its here its bittersweet, because when writing this review it means it's over again and I have no other opportunity to read this for the first time again.

This story really takes you on an adventure nobody will ever go on, and the way Kendra writes this world it's like you're really there. It's never a dull moment with Victoria and her men, and wherever they go they make friends because they are good!

If you need an adventure, some sexy times, and hot men all around this one is the book for you, but please read Clockwork Butterfly first. It has a HEA but maybe if we're lucky it could flow in another book

After what seemed like forever we get the second installment to Clockwork Butterfly, and again Kendra has out done herself.

We get even more character depth and can see how much these five grow with the help of each other. The continuing world building we get is amazing, as you read this you really get to picture it and it just starts to feel like you are actually there.

If you are ready to feel all kinds of emotions and adventures this is the book for you, as Vic and her men once again travel the world on a mission from higher up, and with adventure comes many different obstacle courses they will have to overcome.

Oh my wonder, it’s hard to believe, but this book was even better than the first. Seriously, this book was a gobsmacked wonder-light shining out my eyes, a choir of beings singing and just. so. moving I’m in awe. The imagination of Kendra to write such a wonder. Okay, back to earth. Vic and her men are on another epic journey and trying to outrun a fleet of bad guys. There’s adventure, humor, scorching hotness, laughter, love, kindness, fierceness, Gear and scorching hotness-if I didn’t mention that before ;) seriously, read. this. book!

Thank you Kendra Moreno for listening to our pleas for more adventures with Vic, Jules, Bram, Jed, and Emory. I was hoping for a story that would be as good as A Clockwork Butterfly, but A Clockwork Octopus is bigger, better, and has so much more! Not only do we get to go on the adventure with Vic and her men, we see them all grow, change, face their demons, and become who they are meant to be. Or at least start the journey, I would love for there to be more books following their travels.

The relationship between Vic and her mates is one worth reading and they have so many fantastic adventures that there is never a dull moment... This is a book I will re read a million times or untli Kendra decides to give us more of this world

This is the second in the series, and it is amazing. This is well written, fast paced, action, adventure, and steamy. And lets not forget the danger, they will face in this book. Vic, Emory, Jed, Jules, and Bram, are off again to travel around the world. They are in search of something that could help the world, or end it. If you want to know how the do, please read. Let this story carry you away, and see the love around. Hope we get to hear more about Vic and her men.

What an adventure book two in this series turned out to be! A new adventure for Vic and her guys has them dealing with new dangers and discovering new mysteries! We meet some new people along the way while Vic and her guys learn to deal with who they are as individuals and who they are as a team. Lots of excitement in this one, definitely a good read!

Love love this book. I read the first one and really enjoyed it but mostly the men. This one Victoria was a stronger woman and it showed. This story kept me interested the entire time it rang the gambit of emotions as I read. I think people should read this as it’s a wonderful story that you can read over a weekend or whatever in this time.

One of the best RH’s out there! Both Clockwork Butterfly and Clockwork Octopus are such amazing reads. Clockwork Octopus really lives up to the first book in terms of both adventure and romance. The characters are wonderful and the story leaves you guessing til the very end!

Loved diving back into this world with Victoria and her guys! Like Clockwork Butterfly this book was full of adventure, danger, and of course hot scenes with the guys. The plot keeps you pulled in from start to finish as they race the council to the codex.
