Amelia… It all started with a plane ride. Just a simple plane ride home… that’s what they said. One that wasn’t supposed to end with me flying the damn thing! But then going home wasn’t supposed to be a bad thing either…well, that was if going home didn’t also meaning trying to hide my new, secret boyfriend. Someone who just so happened to be my father’s old enemy. Should be easy right? Well, Lucius had other ideas, ones that included sneaking into my room, reading my diary, feeling me up and getting my panties in a twist about pretty much everything…literally. So, throw in an ancient vendetta, a curse, a witch, an old flame and a hot Vampire King trying to get in your pants at your father’s table and what you had was a recipe for only one thing… A world of hurt and a Map of Sorrows.

Okay. I did not review the 4 books in this series before this one, so I am going to give my thoughts on the series so far, and then, if I have time I might try to go back and review the other 4 books. But, I'm not going to hold my breath on that.
This series actually was a surprise for me. I can't remember exactly why, but book 1"Transfusion" somehow ended up in my Audible library and one day when I was looking for a book to start I thought, "why not" Needless to say, book 1 led to book 2 which led....you get the gist, right?
Okay, onto the books. I REALLY liked Transfusion. It was a unique premise with - of course- a mysterious alpha vampire king that pulled me in right away. I liked books one and two quite a bit, but have to admit that books 3 and 4 were a bit of - not a disappointment - but were not as good as the first ones. We get to see Luc's POV, but there is a lot of repeating of events - so even though we were able to get his viewpoint -there was a lot of repetition. When I say repeating, that is truly what happens. So...we basically have to read those events twice. Also, not a lot of progress is actually made in the story arc in either book until near the end, so it kind of felt like the story was just slugging along.
But, book 5 was interesting. The way things ended, it made me frustrated that I had actually caught up to the author and I am going to have to wait for book 6 like everyone else...bummer. I hate it when that happens!
I'm not going to lie, one of my biggest pet peeves was the female MC's immaturity. She has a habit of not listening and reacting in very childish ways. She also jumps to conclusions...ALOT.. and that is also frustrating. Most of the conflict that they have- Luc and Amelia - is because they just DO NOT communicate well. That is beyond frustrating. But, other things in the series make up for it.
I wasn't sure at one point if I would be continuing the series, but now am glad that I did and will be waiting for the next book to come out. At least it is already April...small blessings!
This series has been a ride with twist and turns cliff hangers but this one really made me think I wanted to say to Amelia to wake up to her self. Lucius is always hot as ever truly an amazing read thanks again to Mrs Stephanie Hudson.
“For all I had left now was a Map... Of Sorrows.”
Please go and read this series or this book it’s worth the ride her writing style in amazing.
Ok so I couldn’t read this book fast enough lol. I started it this morning and just finished. I am counting the days till the next book!! I laughed so much and now I’m very emotional!!! That ending 🥺 Loved the book! xx
Oh... my poor Lucius what have you done now???!!!!?? Well at least Draven is about to kick his ass. With that said.... I love these books they take me to an escape like not all books can. I know some books are not for everyone and even though the descriptions of derring and attire is really long sometimes it helps with the visual. I live Stephanie's writing and cannot wait for the next book as usual, but in a good way because I know its coming soon.
Following Lucius and Amelia's romance is like being on a roller coaster ride. There are so many twists and turns that if the ride was real the queue would be past the parks gate for the absolute thrill of it.
Personally I've never actually been on a roller coaster and I definitely wouldn't be queuing to go on one, but I'm already in line for the next instalment.
Bring it on Mrs Hudson, I'm ready for more of your awesome tale.
I thought the action dragged a bit too much. And Amelia annoyed me to no end with her desire to keep things secret between them. But considering the ending, the next one should be a blast :)
It took me less than 4 days to read the first 5 books in this series.
In times of Corona, I thought that an escape from reality would do me good, but ... wow .... Lucius and Amelia's relationship is a pure roller coaster ride and then the respective cliff hangers ... - I just needed more and more of these two (LOL). I also like that the plot is told alternately from two different perspectives.
If you like fantasy with strong characters (which are sometimes "a little bit" overdrawn*), I highly recommend this series.
As always this woman is brilliant. Leaves the reader hanging off the edge with no rope and only a pinky finger holding on. I can't wait to see where this all ends up.
Some scenes I found confusing in this book mostly the prison section Some new characters and a lot of tension and emotion and some really funny and hot scenes
Okay so I love this series. I really do. And this installment has been amazing. All up until the end. At this point Amelias irrational jealousy is getting beyond old. And it is clear she does. Understand how a Chosen One works. And growing up in this world she really should.
Her obsession with Lucius being in love with her mother is so beyond irritating at this point and it’s not even completely her fault since Lucius hasn’t been exactly forth coming with information. Classic miscommunication. And I just want smack both of them. Amelia for not realizing the number of time he said he doesn’t love or even care for her mother in that manner. And Lucius for first putting the thoughts in her head and secondly not explaining his past that involves Keira.
Lesson to be learned. Stop withholding information and always be truthful. Holding back only causes more problems.
Now the way Amelia left she basically left a nice cluster fu** for her parents and Lucius to straighten out while she did what she seems to always do. Run. I swear this girl don’t stay and take responsibility for her mess, ever. If she feels threatened or hurt she runs. And completely misses the important stuff. Misses all the signs. And jumps to outlandish conclusions. Like Lucius and her mom having an affair. Which again points to the fact that she clearly just doesn’t grasp the concept of a Chosen One. Like it seems they have eyes for no one else. So how could either party be with anyone else???
If this girl don’t stop her crazy I don’t if I’m going to be able to handle the rest of the series. Like I might need a break from it. Guess we will see what happens next.
Another great saga read about Lucius and Amelia! Stephanie Hudson you did it again! I cannot wait for Transfusion 6 to come out. All the characters came alive in this series, Dom not knowing about his daughter’s romance with Lucius, and Kiera’s secret she has kept from the family for years and the guilt she has for keeping the secret. Best part of the story in my opinion was Amelia trying to hide Lucius under her bed when Kiera, Pip, and Sophia arrived. That part of the book had me laughing so hard with the scene of Pip keeping Sophia and Kiera entertained to keep from finding Luc. It was hilarious! The only thing I didn’t like about the book and I believe some would agree with me is that the story was not long enough. Two hundred pages plus, for me is not long enough especially with a cliffhanger at the end. I’m impatiently waiting for book 6 to arrive and can’t wait to read what the next adventure and reconciliation between Amelia and Lucius will have. You are a brilliant story writer Stephanie Hudson and I cannot wait for more “Afterlife characters” get their chosen ones.
Can't get enough! I have always been Team Lucious and feel for him in this one although really want to know what he is hiding.....what is it Lucious?! TELL ME!! He has clearly been hiding something BIG since the beginning and I am ready to know! Good to see Theo in this one as well but a little frustrated about things not being in order...Theo series ending is eluded to and some info given in this book but his particular series is not complete (and supposed to be his story many years prior to this) so you are jumping around. Thane is mentioned in this one too and again when Theo other series is incomplete, you are getting pulled in different directions. Confusing a bit on what is happening there when there is a big chunk of time (books) missing to fill in gaps. However, I am anxiously awaiting all filler books and the next in Lucious - Amelia story! Hooked on this world!
I'm getting lazy in my reviews of this series, as they're all becoming more of the same. For the most part, I really like the cast of characters, and the plot. Most of the focus is on Amelia and Lucius, and continued tension, back and forth bickering and sexual tension, which is renewed once again thanks to them trying to keep their relationship on the DL from her parents.
The broader story arc seems rushed, where I kind of wish more time was spent making sense of the action and mystery events. I truly was hoping this would be the final book in the series, but it isn't. I feel like I just don't want to spend so much time watching sexcapades, instead of getting lost in a good story.
Even though the next installment comes out in a matter of days, I'm not sure I'll pick it up. I kind of crave something more mentally satisfying.
I can’t get enough of this Author. The story continues. Amelia and Lucias have travelled to Afterlife. To Amelia’s home. A place where the King of Kung awaits his daughter’s return. However for Lucias this is going to literally be hell. They have to keep their love secret. Lucias is not pleased. His demon is furious. He wants to touch what is rightfully his whenever he wants not snatched pieces of time at night. The map has been shown. The Witch has upped the game. Can the secret be kept? Can they figure out the next piece of the puzzle and save the Vampire race that is turning rogue by the day? Read this book and find out. I do recommend you start at the beginning and also to read the Afterlife saga first. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
Once again Stephanie Hudson delights her readers with twists and turns in her Transfusion saga by taking the story back to its beginning, Afterlife. After pages upon pages of action, steamy romance and enemies around every corner of Lucius' fortress, Amelia, Luc, Pip and Adam depart for the safety of America. Only trouble follows them the moment the plane lifts off, and continues to escalate at Afterlife! Add the stress of hiding their bond from her father, Dom's strained relationship with Luc, Amelia's jealousy of Luc and Kiera's past and things get a little "complex." Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed this installment, and look forward to the next one!
Amelia finally returns back to Afterlife with Lucius in Book Four of the series TRANSFUSION and this book is chock full of funny moments as the tale progresses.
It was wonderful to see the gang again. We are reunited with Draven, Sophia, Vincent, and Ragnar and it was so good to see him again. Unfortunately, the annoying Keira *insert eyeroll here* is in the books and once again, thrust onto center stage as numerous cats are let out of the bag in this book.
The cliffhanger in this one has me proceeding to Book Five and hopefully, Goody-two-shoes Keira (she's still as annoying to me as ever) has to answer for the many lies she's told to her Amelia and Draven.
Wow another fabulous book about my favourite couple. This book left me hanging on every word i couldn't put it down just wanted to get to the end so I could start the next one, and what an end it was Amelia getting everything wrong and causing absolute chaos by jumping to the wrong conclusion. I can't wait to find out how all the chaos gets sorted, how Draven reacts to what Amelia said will Lucius be able to sort things out with Amelia and what the final outcome will be. I would recommend this book but would suggest starting at the beginning by reading Afterlife first ....so get reading.
That's what I am...speechless! That ending! Well, once again, Stephanie drags us into this amazing world - makes us laugh, cry, and scream along with the characters. The reader becomes so invested in the storyline that before you know it, it's 3am and you need the next book NOW -telling yourself that the book just CAN'T end this way! I enjoyed seeing the whole "gang" again on the trip back to Afterlife. But, Amelia has to stop with the snap out of the childishness. You just want to shake some sense into her sometimes (can see why Lucius gets frustrated!). I cannot wait until the next installment...the first chapter is bound to be a doozy of a scene!
Amelia is displaying more confidence, skills of warfare and strategy because she has been taught by the best of the kings who are mostly her uncles and bodyguards. Her love of history, her humor, quick wit and humanity is both a gift and a curse. Lucius is so demanding and bossy because he is ancient. The supernaturals underestimated their enemy and each time their arrogance is again turned against them. I feel for Amelia’s straddling the two worlds but now is clearly ready for a seat at the table. She is a princess who has learned a lot and because she sees things from a different angle she is going to eventually stop getting bossed around and protected when that same protection keeps taking her closer to danger. After all, dad brought the box to her from the jump.
I have been a huge fan of this series ... Team Lucius all the way! I just wish there was better character development when it comes to Amelia. She just comes across as a child sometimes. Her insecurities are the root cause of all her problems with Lucius. What kind of love is she claiming she has for him when she doesn’t even trust him?
Keira comes across as partly selfish as well. She seems to be wanting to put her needs and wants before Lucius even though she knows the hidden secret would put a big dent on Lucius and Amelia’s relationship.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Loved being reintroduced to some of my favourite characters from afterlife. I have especially enjoyed the comical situations Amelia and Lucius are put in whilst trying to keep their relationship a secret from the Draven's. My only criticism is Amelia's childish insecurities about Lucius and her mother is starting to annoy me slightly... I mean how much more can this man/vampire king do to show his loyalty. Saying this though the cliff hanger has me wanting more as always. well done Stephanie for another great instalment.
The books just keep getting better!! Poor Amelia. For as smart as that girl is, she is constantly misinterpreting Lucius' actions where her mother is concerned. Poor girl. I hate how this book ended with so much pain for my girl. Ugh!! I am also kicking myself for not having read Afterlife first. I feel like I might not be as misinformed as my girl & maybe not hating her mom as much as she does right now either. Ugh!! But I need to know what happens next more so on to the next book!!!
Ok, some of Amelia skills are becoming a little James Bondish, but what the hell. She’s a Draven right? It keeps the story interesting. She keeps saving the day in the most unexpected ways. Each time she is kidnapped by the witch I’m on the edge of my seat. When her relationship with Lucius, is finally revealed to her father will swords fly? Probably! Will Amelia ever stop jumping to the wrong conclusion about the relationship between Lucius and her mother? Unlikely. I can’t wait until all the truths finally come out!
I am reading this series and really enjoying all the characters and family building. In this book Lucius takes Amelia back to Afterlife for protection as they try to figure out who or what is the enemy. It’s a twisty road because it goes from evil being to the next more evil and powerful creature. The climax of the story is at the end and then you get dropped into a cliffhanger. Yes, this book ended abruptly and it was just wrong to end that way. Disappointed!
There are no negative reviews about this book whatsoever! It is a perfect continuance and I absolutely cannot wait for the next! This series has started us from the beginning and left nothing out, we've seen the start of relationships, the kids, kids growing and now kids relationships and EVERYTHING in between. It's like I'm keeping tabs on family. I love it! Don't ever stop Stephanie!! I ❤
I have just finished book 5 and in one week I've read them all that tells you how good these books are . From the first book to this one I couldn't put them down they had me so engrossed and the characters are brilliant. Amielia and luc as she sometimes calls him are breath taking I laughed so much and sat on the end of my seat gripped to what will happen next . A must read all I can say is fantastic and brilliant.
I am it of fan of saga stories- I like my character reads some and moving on to book two about other characters in the same series, so imagine my surprise when I fell in love with this.now book 5 of the same love story between Luc and Amelia. Best saga series ever! It makes me crave the other characters and their background stories too. A must summer 2020 Covid19 escape reading
Oh My Godness she's done it again! Well done Stephanie Hudson your books just keep me on the edge of my seat all the way to the end then turn that page D'oh n it's finished got to read the next one NOW, Need it now that's housework not getting done again lol
Loving the story, the fight good against evil, love stories getting tied up in knots aaaargh wish people would talk and tell each other the truth but makes for bludy good reading 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 it!!
Why oh Why did i wait so long to read this book, i thought i had read it that must of been it. I absolutely loved this book the best so far in the Transfusion series, but Amelia you need to wake up and tell the world that Lucius is your man and stop hiding it as it always comes out in the end. Need to download the next book to find out what Lucius does now that Amelia thinks the worst of him. Brilliant.
Lucius decides it will be safer for Amelia at Afterlife. She is worried what will happen if Draven finds out they are each other's chosen one. This book has funny, sexy and heart tugging moments. Secrets can start out harmless and to keep someone safe but what happens when they get twisted into a complete misunderstanding. All while a craxy witch is trying to kill all vampires.
