I’m not usually a fan of Sports Fiction so I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book.

The half color/ half Black and white book tells of Roy Race joining the Rovers as a Junior player and slowly progressing through the ranks. The pencils are fantastic, while the color maybe not as much.

The storylines are interesting and well done, what’s a shame about this title is that it contains the run from September 1954 to May 1955 and then jumps ahead to August 55 and runs until February 1956. Making it not only not a complete run but also not resolving certain storylines, such as an intriguing blackmail plot.

I hope more 1950s Roy of the Rovers stories are re-released.
