I've been meaning to read this book since last year, and every time I put it on my TBR, it somehow always wound up lost, but last night I said no more, I picked up the book and dove right in, I fell asleep reading it.

A Nigerian romance that is non-judgemental when it comes to women, not preachy and in a contemporary setting. A woman who is hardworking and amazing keeps wonderful relationships, minds her business and wants no drama, you guys Simi is such a sweetheart and a woman after my own hear

3.5 stars. Dawsk is a moderately paced book which is more about the protagonist, Simi trying to get on with her everyday life and less about a love story. If you like your love stories sappy and intense, this isn’t the book for you. The love story in Dawsk is more understated and mature which worked just fine for us. Read the full review ...more

The story was a bit extra for me and it takes a while before the paranormal bit is included but that bit melded well.
The orphanage visit chapter warmed my heart. I liked the goddess power and pace of the book. The shapeshifting was not fullly explored but I liked it. It like to know more about the mentioned war between the gods.

But overall its a good read.

Simisola is unaware of the power she wields. She meets Aiden, an interesting individual, and surprise! Femi, her ex boyfriend, pops back into her life. She gets suspicious about witches, witch hunters and shape shifters.

Dawsk is Erhu Kome's first book and she crafts endearing characters, bringing forth the unexploited mystery and myth of Yoruba deities to light.

I look forward to reading more of her work.

Cheers to more books, alter worlds and hearty characters.
