This story is an unexpected surprise. While I expected a rough ride for the characters, the apocalyptic scenes drove the tale into the kind of horrifying adventure one cannot put down. Once I started, I couldn’t stop, had to read until I finished it. I particularly liked the use of music as a device to escape – highly imaginative and another surprise …

There’s scene near the end (Jasmine and the Caliph) that made my hair stand on end (I won’t give it away here) and it sets the tone for what must

Excellent book! It has the feel of a zombie apocalypse story, but it isn't. It's an afterlife story with a very post-apocalyptic feel. Absolutely brilliant! I love the characters and can't wait to see where the rest of this series goes! ...more

An excellent dystopian story, well written with interesting characters! I liked the theme & ideas, something a bit different! A great way to while away a miserable weekend! I do recommend it!
