Sisters Lavender and Sorrel look so alike they could be taken for twins, but that’s where any similarities end.
When unassuming Sorrel’s life starts to unravel and she’s threatened by a bullying boss, it’s fearless Lavender who comes up with a plan for revenge. Revenge is not sweet, according to Lavender, but essential.
It’s going well until their feckless mother turns up on their doorstep after a ten year absence, bringing dark memories of a childhood secret back to life and forcing the sisters to face the past.
Will the plan work? Will Sorrel stop being a doormat? Will Lavender ever acquire any morals? And most importantly, can a cattle prod kill a grown man or at least maim his manhood?
Join Sorrel and Lavender in this dark, twisted comedy where anything can happen...
Marina Johnson loves all things British, including the weather when it stops raining. She keeps trying to write something serious and straightforward but it never quite turns out that way. She also writes under the pen name Joanne Ryan https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Enjoyed this book loved ven and sorrel didn’t like Giles both lavender and sorrel have a secret Giles treat sorrel like a doormat he’s a author who has had l best seller trying to write his second book while sorrel pay the bills and a bully at work made me laugh
Love all of the books by Marina. This book doesn’t disappoint. Find them all east to connect to, easy to read and fun. One fault, she doesn’t write them fast enough for me. Looking forward to the next one.
Sorrel is a bit of a doormat but her sister, Ven, is feisty and fearless. It’s easy to identify with Sorrel and the insidious workplace bullying she is subjected too. Ven is the person we’d all like to be, no fear whatsoever. It’s Ven who comes to the rescue and helps Sorrel face up to her persecutor and ‘woman up’ in general. Their feckless mother was a hoot and Sorrel’s boyfriend was ‘interesting.’ Ven is my most favourite character ever. This book is a dark comedy that had me laughing out loud – a lot. I thoroughly recommend it as an antidote to being in lockdown.
Just brilliant. Sisters Sorrell and Lavender were named after herbs by their hippy mother. They couldn't be more different if they tried. Sorrell finds herself in a real pickle, both at work and at home. Older sister Lavender (who you will love by the way - she takes no nonsense) comes to Sorrell's rescue with some rather unusual ideas. Then their mum comes to stay... This book is funny, sassy and about sisters!
Another delightful book, read in under 24 hours. As one reader has said, only disappointment is Marina Johnson can’t write fast enough! I adore her books.
