A Blink of an Eye

Our Enemy is out for the Destruction of Penllyn

It’s up to me to stop it. The goddess warns me to prepare for a “great sacrifice.” If I have to give my undead life to protect the people and the land that I love, I will.

A Blink of an Eye is third in the exciting new Dark Fantasy series.

The goddess has called her champions to Penllyn. Their enemy begins to reveal the end-game.

Can Maria, Gwen, and their friends protect the people of Britain from the enemy of the goddess?

A Blink of an Eye is book three in the exciting new Dark Fantasy series.

The goddess has called her champions to Penllyn. Maria and Gwen begin to discover the problems Penllyn and all of Britain will face. Can an undead girl from Rome, her Druidess love with a secret past of her own, and their assorted friends stand in the onslaught of dark forces out to strip Britain of its very soul?

This book is the second in a fascinating new dark fantasy trilogy building on the characters and story from Troy A. Hill’s Penllyn Chronicles.

If you enjoy the vampire stories of Laurell K. Hamilton, but like a twist of dark history a la Barbara Hambly, you’ll enjoy this series that pulls together strong female characters, epic swordplay, and dark magic with a healthy sprinkling of Celtic mythology in post-Arthurian Britain.

About the author

Troy is the author of the Cup of Blood series, and its prequels, The Penllyn Chronicles. Both series are set in post-Arthurian Britain.

Through writing these stories, Troy has fallen in love with the Welsh land and her people of the past. Although his ancestry has a strong Saxon and Scottish tilt to it, he hopes one day to move to Wales, and adopt his own red dragon.

When he's not writing more adventures for Maria, Gwen, Emlyn et al, he and his fuzzy editor, AKA Loki-Kitty, are usually sitting outside in the Los Angeles Sunshine (and smog).

Troy's love of history has also driven him to volunteer as a docent at the Santa Monica Pier, to the west of LA. You can find him there occasionally on the weekends, guiding walking tours and discussing the history of Santa Monica, Hollywood, and a pier built in the early 1900s.

What a ride! What an amazing rollercoaster!

The best words to describe this book are, Wow, the feels!

This wonderful continuation of A Cup of Blood series, is beyond doubt the best thus far. With rip roaring fight scenes, and 'cut to the heart' feels scenes, this book has it all.

Dramatic and moving, I loved this book as it brings together the best of the best to fight for land of Britania, and the goddess The Lady of Britania.

Against an army predominantly made up of the dead, our hero Mair, and her heroic 'partner in crime' Gwen, fight against the dead and even an undead shapeshifter, against incredible odds. Our intrepid and courageous friends Emlyn, Seren, Roadh, and many others of the Penllyn Teulu, all fight to save the world they love and the land they are willing to die for, against an evil wizard or two, or three.

Skeletons are chasing and killing villagers in Penllyn lands. Those who are killed are then gathered up by the skeletons and taken away, but why, and to where? Who is it that is targeting the Penllyn area, the Penllyn farms in particular? Who could be strong enough magically, to make so many of the dead rise, and do their evil bidding?
Someone who is incredibly powerful and completely hidden from sight is controlling the army of the dead.

Mair, Gwen, Emlyn, Ruadh and Seren are looking into each attack on each village in Penllyn lands, but they cannot work out how the dead are being raised and controlled, or who is doing all this against the Penllyn Teulu. They suspect their evil neighbour Lord Fadog, but he has not got the magical powers they seek.

Into this difficult and dangerous situation come the Witch Hunters, who are taking and torturing people on Penllyn lands, as they seek blood witches, ones who are like Mair and Ruadh, the undead. So far they are just a danger if they get too close but with the danger of the dead army, Mair has more on her mind than her safety from the Witch Hunters.

This story was very moving. So much brilliant action and drama. But also so much pain and such heart breaking loss. I was not prepared for the rollercoaster of a ride that this book would take me on. I have become so deeply attached to the characters in this book, in this series, that when they are hurt, I find myself teary eyed and sad. But conversely, their joy is my joy. So I guess it's a 'swings and roundabouts' situation.

I !ove this entire series. I have it on good authority that there are plenty more books to come in this brilliantly written series. All I can say to that is, YAY! Long may it continue

BAD TO THE BONE!!!
Wow! Talk about a breathless experience. This is one exciting, action packed, hard hitting, fast paced, pulse racing, heart pounding, nailbiting, page turning thriller that captivates from the start. This is one of the best series I've read this entire year. And believe me, I read alot. Troy brings his characters to life so flawlessly and realistic is an amazing thing to behold. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches here and there make for one enjoyable experience. The scenes are so graphically detailed it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. Troy keeps the drama, danger and suspense building and the tension spirals as the tale unfolds. Troy did a remarkable job bringing this read to life. Fantastic job Troy, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
