Plain Jane #2

Plain Jane and the Billionaire

Rate this book
What do you give a man who has everything? ... A woman he can't have.

Calista Coleman has a problem named Julius Morgan, the newest billionaire and most eligible bachelor in New York City. He's condescending, egotistical, ridiculously handsome, and he needs her. Vulnerable and in danger are two things she can't walk away from, neither is the paycheck he offers her to protect him. Yeah, he's gorgeous, but it shouldn't be an issue as long as she sticks to her one rule--no screwing the client. She'll do whatever it takes to keep him safe, even if it costs her everything, including her heart.

Julius Morgan took two bullets meant for his best friend. Wrong place, right time because he met Calista Coleman. She changed his life the night she saved him and became his bodyguard. Her beauty and mouth make him want to throw out the rules. Just one problem--he doesn't screw his employees. But what Julius Morgan wants, Julius gets...regardless of the consequences. And he wants her.

With danger looming closer, the lines between employer and employee blurs. Friend becomes foe, and life and death balance on razor's edge, leaving Julius and Calista to risk it all.

Could have been a 5 star book

I really like this series and the characters and world building, but there is no excuse for poor editing.
It takes something away from the story, In this case the author couldn't remember if her character could swim or not. Whether they were on the river or ocean. And every single time the character was asked if she wanted something to eat, she would refuse even if she was starving. I think the author used that so many times it was predictable.
Along with those glaring mistakes were the usual typos and punctuation errors too. I have now read 4 of the books in the series and they all have numerous errors.
A good editor is extremely valuable to a writer, I hope she finds one soon.

This story knocked it out of the park for me. I've been reading this series and I enjoyed it so much and it left me wanting more !! More adventure, more danger, more Calista and Julius. They were both such great main characters with plenty of depth. Plenty of emotions were shown with an almost against their logic attraction to each other. Calista tries to play it cool which is her nature most of the time. Cool and tough when on the job. Julius is hot for her even though one of his rules is to never have sex with an employee. Yeah, well there is a rule that will be broken. It's good to know that there is more than just simple lust at work here.
Calista and Julius aren't the only people in the story of course. And the others that do show up do so with gusto.
I loved how the story semi-ended and all I can say is bring on the next book. I'm all in.
By the way, I love the unusual image that was used as the book cover.

The Bodyguard and the Billionaire

This book has action, drama, chemistry that sizzles, an intriguing h who is a no nonsense body guard and so much more. After an attempt on Julius life, Calista is hired as his body guard. Julius and Calista's feelings for each other keep them from remaining detached. Lines become blurred. Calista will try to put distance between her and Julius. But, Julius will do anything to get what he wants.... Calista. Both Calista and Julius have family issues that have to be resolve. Calista's, saddens her heart, Julius, is facing unknown threats to his close friends life and may be to his own life. This is a clearly defined detailed storyline. Just, when an enemy is revealed, Julius faces another obstacle and problem that keeps him from his ultimate goal. Read the book to find out. You will not be disappointed. The book ends on a cliffhanger.

Our hero needs protection and our heroine is just the person to provide it. But while they are dodging bullets, can they also avoid complications of the romantic sort? That might be a more difficult task.

This is book two of the series, but it does just fine as a standalone.

This is a wonderful blend of hard rocking action and romance. The story was very well written and included plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting. The characters are also well developed and have a sense of realism to them that makes the story easy to read. They have a few issues to deal with, but once they do the chemistry is very high. The plot is fast paced and a page turner. I am looking forward to seeing more from this author in the future.

Highly recommended.

All confusion and no conclusion

I've been a fan of Tmonique Stephens' Plain Jane series - up until now. This latest one is a clunker, period. Annoyingly dense characters. Random people/events/truncated subplots that interrupted the main story so much that I finally lost track of what the main story was. A exceedingly detailed and gruesome body count - for no discernible reason. I kept hoping it would all sort out by the end, but since the "End" was an unforeseen long walk off a short pier... Tmonique Stephens is a better writer than this book demonstrates. For that reason alone: 2 stars instead of one.

Julius gets shot and hires Calista. He has a rule - don't screw an employee. Calista is his new bodyguard, and she has a rule, too - don't screw the client. While they navigate his safety, they encounter a host of characters, some evil, some crazy, but all of them interesting. All while they try to not screw each other. I enjoyed this book - romance of course, but also suspense and action. Not a fan of the cliffhanger, though, unless I know about it in advance.

Bodyguard Calista is VERY good at her job; she always keeps her clients safe. Calista works for Italian Mafia boss Harden Gage at one of his clubs when he has a get-together with his boarding school pals, including Julius Morgan. On the way out, shots are fired. Julius is hit twice in the back. Harden thinks the bullets were for him and sends Calista with Julius to the hospital. This book has quite a bit of action, romance, and steam, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

This is my first story by this author. Loved it! Calista is a bodyguard who saves Julius life. Worst day ever getting shot but not meeting Calista. There is attraction even near death. Calista has a hard rule and it's no sleeping with the clients. There is suspense, drama, intrigue. There is just one thing I didn't like. The cliffhanger! So......... If you don't mind no ending and another book then this is for you. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the story of Calista and Julius. She saves his life and becomes billionaire Julius’ bodyguard. Only problem is they are insanely attracted to each other but Calista doesn’t date her clients and Julius doesn’t date his employees. There are many obstacles as she keeps him safe and a host of characters to contend with. I enjoyed this story with all the antics and chemistry. I look forward to the next one. Calista is a bodyguard with one big rule, no screwing clients. Billionaire Julius has a rule of his own, no screwing with employees. When Calista saves Julius life she then gets hired to be his bodyguard. There is one problem they are attracted to each other. The storyline is good and filled with drama, suspense, intrigue, action, romance and an ending that left me wanting more. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

As my first "Plain Jane" novel, I have to say to that I'm impressed. I absolutely loved Calista as she was a take-charge woman who didn't accept any grief from anyone. Got to love that! The romance that develops between her and Calista (her bodyguard) is truly touching and really fun to watch unfold. I can't wait to read more from this series and from Tmonique Stephens

Calista is a body guard and when she is hired by Billionaire Julius who had a narrow deathly counter she might just end up breaking her cardinal rule, no sleeping with clients. Julius is a man who gets what he wants, but things arent so smooth going for the pair. this story has romance, Billionaire H and Bodyguard h, suspense, and more! ends on a cliffhanger.

This was a great story, the blooming love story between Calista, the bodyguard, and Julius the billionaire.
There was intrigue, suspense and love.. the complete package. Only downside of the story: it isn’t finished... we have to wait for the next book ( too bad for me I don’t have much patience)

I highly enjoyed this bodyguard billionaire romance with a lot of action, conflicting family loyalties, shootings, gambling & elite rich lifestyle.
It was nice to have a highly protective female as a twist on the cliche protective male.

It is always a romantic adventure to read a Plain Jane novel.
I liked the new story and the tension between the two characters although at times it was not as smoothly shown as I expected.
It was full of twists and suspense too.

I loved books 1 and 2 of this series, but I just couldn't get invested in this storyline and these characters. I didn't care for the hero or the heroine and found there was little chemistry between them.

Wonderful read

This book had me glued. I like Calista's personality. She's tough and blunt. She did not seem wishy washy even when she ended up breaking her own rule. I'm curious what the follow up to this cliff hanger will be.
