About the author

Albert Bernard Feldstein was an American writer, editor, and artist, best known for his work at EC Comics and, from 1956 to 1985, as the editor of the satirical magazine Mad. After retiring from Mad, Feldstein concentrated on American paintings of Western wildlife.

Kudos to Dark Horse for putting all these EC Comics back in print, but there's a reason this only lasted 5 issues. There's a certain sameness to all these stories. The only thing that changes is the illness. Still it's fun to see things like doctors smoking while treating their patients in their hospital beds.

Se trata de una recopilación de las revistas MD de EC comics. Historias de médicos de los años 50, todos hombres, con corbatas, fumando sus cigarrillos... La mayoría de las historias son mas o menos realistas, de acuerdo con la práctica en los años 50, y no deja de ser un conjunto de historias curiosas. Pondría como ejemplo la historia del muchacho que se intenta suicidar porque sus padres no tienen una buena relación, la solución de esta historia (olvídate de la paroxetina o de la fluoxetina) es un tratamiento de electroshock para provocar una amnesia y así desaparecen los problemas que lo agobian, por otro lado, cuando está administrando el tratamiento, "olvidan" cerrar la puerta para que los padres vean la descarga sobre el hijo, y mejoren sus relaciones. Curiosas historias. No creo que esto se edite nunca en castellano.

I really enjoyed this collection of MD magazines from The EC Archives. I love how each story starts with a diagnosis and a cure. I also really liked the story about the hill people that don't trust doctors, but a doctor saves a woman's life and their thoughts are changed.

I received an e-ARC of this book by Dark Horse Comics via Edelweiss. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

The worst of EC’s new direction, it just isn’t the right medium for medical stories, imagine a whole page with each frame just different pictures of the surgeons performing surgery with dialogue, that works in say MASH where the actors voices bring the drama but the comic forum is wrong for the stories they try to tell,

Most stories do try to have the well known EC twist.
