My least favorite in the series. Really slow and a bit too much "telling" rather than showing. I started to skim the second half. Everything resolved too conveniently for our H/h. I'm sorry to say this, but you wouldn't miss out on anything spectacular if you decide to skip this book or the entire series.

This was a pretty good read, but I definitely prefer the first in the series still. I enjoyed watching Beau and Marianne go from being suspicious of each other to uneasy friends to being in love. I wasn’t as interested in the big mystery as the romance. And I did find Marianne’s accent (I know it wasn’t real) grating. I look forward to whatever Valerie Bowman writes next!

The plot to the story sounds like a good one. I found myself laughing at some of the quip between the characters. I loved the introduction between Beau and Marianne. That was perfect writing there. I like the characters as well.
I’m not able to connect my self with the characters though. The dialogue among them seems to not pull me into the story. It’s like a song and dance dialogue. I want to say they are going through the motions. If the spying and action would have taken place in the beginnin ...more

The Valet Who Loved Me by Valerie Bowman is book Three in The Footmen's Club Series. This is the story of Marianne Notley and Beau Bellham as the Marquess of Bellingham. I have read the previous books, which did add to my enjoyment of this book. I do feel that it can be a standalone book.
Beau is pretending to be a Footmen to find the identity of a traitor. While doing his investigation he keeps butting heads with Marianne who also works in service for the family but she seems to have some quest ...more

3.5. It was an interesting concept to center an entire trilogy around one house party and have the stories of all three couples across three books happening simultaneously. I started to get fatigued in this volume with the same certain scenes told from a third perspective (though not many -- just a few conversations between the heroes to hold up continuity and maintain the timeline.) But things picked up a lot in the second half when we finally depart from the short timeframe of the previous vol

I couldn’t wait to read the third and last book in this series! Beau impersonates a valet at a country house party. While his other two friends are impersonating servants as a bet no one in the ton would recognize them, Beau is looking for a traitor. He finds a lady’s maid, Marianne, who doesn’t seem to be what she claims to be. Together they must join forces to find this traitor.

I have really enjoyed the Footmen's Club series and I hope their will be spin off books about some of the other characters meant. I did enjoy this book is that I would have enjoyed to read about the weddings of all three of them. The plot was good and I do not want to give any spoilers. I like Marianne and Beau chemistry. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did.

Can we go back to the first book, The Footman and I?

I really liked Bell's character in the first two books so I was quite excited to finally, finally!, get to his book... and then I just didn't find him as appealing in this one. He was better when he still had that air of mystery I guess!
I did quite like Marianne and her suspicious nature, always foiling Bell (or rather, Beau in this one since we get his first name!) in his attempts to get some good ol' fashioned spying done. The banter is great and I love the chemistry between Marianne and Beau ...more

I have loved Beau throughout The Footmen’s Club series. He was always the wise one dispensing words of advice and noticing that which others missed. So, I was interested to see how he would handle his own love affair. As it turns out, he did it almost as poorly as his friends because men are always obtuse about love, at least in a good romance novel. Otherwise, where would the fun be?

The Valet Who Loves Me by Valerie Bowman is the third book in The Footmen’s Club Trilogy. Beau (Bell) Bellham, The Marquess of Bellingham, decides to pose as a valet for his friend’s party, along with his other friends Lucas and Rhys. Bell is not only a Marquess but he also works for the Home Office, as a spy, which not too many people know about. His mission is to find out who, at this party, is the Bidossa traitor. While he’s there, he meets Marianne Notley, who is a ladies maid. Marianne has

THE VALET WHO LOVED ME (THE FOOTMEN'S CLUB #3 Valerie Bowman .. I adored the whole Footman series, I can't pick a favorite of the three.
I loved Beau (aka Bell) in book one of the series. He's self-assured. and yet, when it comes to Marianne, not so much. The sparks between them are funny and hot as they try to outwit each other while trying to deny their feelings.

I received an advanced reader’s copy of The Valet Who Loved Me by Valerie Bowman.
I loved the interaction between Marianne and Beau. They had great chemistry. There were a few scenes where they attempted to one up each other and made me chuckle. There were some unexpected twists in the story.
The timeline of this story overlaps with the other two books in the series without being repetitive and I enjoyed seeing the other characters show up in this story. I loved how with each story we learn a bit ...more

The best of the series and my favorite by far! Beau is a man on a mission. That mission evolves a lottle by the end which took him by surprise. His majesty's best spy was taken by surprise a few times throughout the story. This one didn't have as much minutiae as the previous novels, but it also covered a longer time frame than they did. This counter balanced to make it just as detailed as the other stories.

Oh, spies. Yes, please. I love spy stories and top that with pretending to be a servant and other spies. Catnip! Bell and Marianne’s story allows you to join in their world of intrigue and who can outlast the other. My money is on Marianne. I loved their back and forth dialogue. I loved everything about this story. Valerie writes books that I devour quickly and there is never ever a dull moment.

This was a well-written, entertaining historical romance. Miss Marianne Notley is a lady’s maid with secrets. Beau Bellham secretly works for the Home Office and goes undercover as a valet at a house party. When they meet they each think the other is hiding something, and they are surprised by the attraction they feel. The book was fast-paced and hard to put down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

This novel was an intriguing mystery that grabbed my attention from the start. As the most mysterious member of the Footman's Club, Beau's scheme to infiltrate the house party as a servant comes to light in this fascinating tale. The bet is just a bonus.

The series continues with Beau who is also in on the bet. Although he is a marquis not many people know he is with the Home Office. Even though he is very good at his job, he is taken quit by surprise by Marianne and all her secrets. I really enjoyed their love story and the adventures they went through.

I enjoyed this third installment of the Footmen's Club series in which the spy subplot gets its conclusion, although Marianne's family secrets were revealed a little conveniently. Looking forward to reading more from Bowman.
