Welcome back to Charybdis Station and the crew of the Blue Solace: (Sixth Book in the series)
Draif Ando started life as a slave on Vextonar. When he was fifteen, he met his best friend, Leti Ando, and life got a lot better. Now he's a Charybdis Station captain and works closely with the Lord Admiral of the Station. He is a free man, finally has a purpose of his own, and has the the best lieutenant in the galaxy by his side. If he's so content, why does he yearn for more, and why is he suddenly picturing children with his eyes and Lucas' ears and tail?
Lucas Meluth knew that Draif was his life mate from the moment they met. He also knew that Draif was demisexual and wasn't attracted to Lucas. Not at first. Now, Lucas notices the way Draif's eyes follow him and the way Draif's innocent touches are suddenly not so innocent. Has the time come for their friendship to turn into more?
Draif and Lucas may finally be figuring their relationship out, but their enemies are approaching and it's time to protect Charybdis Station and rid the galaxy of Humans First, once and for all.
Author's Note: 55,000 words. This is a sci-fi/fantasy, m/m love story with no angst and no cheating, just a HEA. There is lots of action, a little sex, mpreg, and a few potty mouths involved in the story. 18+ readers only, please. It is also the sixth book in a series that is best read in order. Read "The Mercenary's Mate," "The General's Mate," "The Soldier's Mate," "The Lieutenant's Mate," and "The Engineer's Mate" first!
I have been self-publishing since October 2018. My books are extremely light and fluffy m/m romance with mpreg, and while they span a few subgenres of romance, they have similar themes of found family and love at first sight. Besides writing, I enjoy reading everything I can get my hands on, especially m/m romance. My personal favorites are mpreg, sci-fi, fantasy, and paranormal.
I was really looking forward to Draif's book. His past is terrible and I wanted him to get a HEA. You know early on in the series that he and Lucas are mates only Draif doesn't know it. He's demisexual and it takes some time before he starts to see Lucas differently than just friends. Lucas is the perfect hero, patient and kind, just waiting for Draif.
I was a bit disappointed that we don't get much of the two of them together as I would have liked. There's a lot going on. This one runs parallel to book 5 for a good portion. You just see things happening at the Charybdis Station while the others are out fighting the queen in book 5.
I thought this would be the end but apparently, there's more to come. Leti is still my favorite character and I hope we'll get some novellas or something with him and all his brood.
Draif has built a good life as a Charybdis Station captain, but lately he’s wanting more — especially with the way he’s starting to look at Lucas. Lucas has always known they were life mates and patiently waited for Draif’s demisexual attraction to grow. Just as their friendship finally begins to shift into something deeper, Humans First threatens Charybdis Station again, forcing them to fight for their home and the future they’re only beginning to imagine.
I loved the sensitive way Lucas handled Draif’s demisexuality — always patient, always respectful — even while they were both juggling the constant threats closing in on Charybdis Station. Draif’s fierce devotion to his family and loved ones really stood out. His protectiveness, his loyalty, and the way he fought for the people he cared about added so much heart to the story. There were emotions and feelings woven through every chapter, balanced with the danger and drama of the final confrontation with Humans First. This was an MM story with mature content and set in the omegaverse with MPREG.
Draif and Lucas are another favorite couple from this series (I know, I know, I have said that about a lot of the couples!) Draif has a tough past that takes a toll on his self-worth so it is especially wonderful watching his transformation into a strong, confident leader. Lucas is wonderful - he has loved Draif for a long time but has made sure to only be what Draif needed and was ready for. The secondary characters were wonderful and we pull a few more individuals into the large found family that is the center of this series.
This series is an excellent mix of romance, humor, and galaxy spanning, bigotry fueled war and cruelty.
This book begins around the same time Book 5 began but is focused on Charybdis Station and the fight against Human’s First rather than the Queen. Draif is determined to destroy HF. He has many contacts that help him with his goal and is like a spider pulling the strings of his web in all directions. Even though there are a few on the station who don’t believe Draif should be a captain, he is dedicated to doing right by his crew and his new home. Lucas’ patience has finally paid off and he is able to be with his mate. While they work through their relationship, Lucas is devoted to making sure Draif is able to focus on bringing down HF. After the Queen is finally destroyed, HF makes their final move and sends their fleet to destroy Charybdis Station.
This book is rated 4 stars. There are some typos and grammatical errors. Even though this book goes back in time, the story is easy to follow and matches up with the previous book.
Personal Note: I loved watching Draif tug on all those little strings to deal with HF. The political intrigue and many different plots he set up were amazing.
I've been waiting for this since Lucas first got hurt and draif was all confused and protective. So much better than I ever could have hoped for.
The biggest problem with c w gray's work is that you want to immediately jump into the next in the series and writing reviews is just too much time to waste before diving back in. I've wanted this for too long though and it exceeded every single expectation.
Draif is so wily and amazing. Him uncovering just how smart and awesome he is on the unexpected was the highlight of this book. Ok, One of the highlights. Cause there's lots. When Lucas told those 3 captains that'd they would be "pulled into the web" I just about DIED. This book was PACKED with action and political intrigue. I just can't describe how perfect it was.
This was the perfect placement for draif's story too. It all came together so freaking perfectly I just want to finish this series and immediately jump back to book 1 and start again. Huh. Guess there's no reason not to!
We finally got to Draif and Lucas' relationship even though we all knew that Draif would finally realize his love for the Lieutenant, LUcas. They've been through so much with the Evile Queen and HUman's First , Draif and Lucas overcame their struggle with recognizing their love and their struggle with deep hatred from HF. So happy to see Draif finally seeing Lucas as his mate an accepting it without having to change who he think being an omega should be an still be a strong Captain, despite what his fellow captains thought of him. Love this book!
"Abdominal V Leads to happiness and fun Lucas’s dick. Yum."
I would just like to say a few words of appreciation for the author's sense of humor and willingness to write ridiculous poetry for the sake of this series. After five books, it can be hard to maintain momentum. The poetry was a stroke of genius.
"My pleasure is a hot coal Will’s penis moves my soul His turgid member is impressive or maybe I’m just obsessive."
Lucas doesn’t know all of his mate Draif’s history, but respects Draif’s close quarter fighting skills and his ability as a ship’s captain. More of Draif’s abilities to analyze, plan and orchestrate attacks against their enemies will be revealed. During this scary time of the rising threat from Human-First, enjoy how Draif and Lucas handle the attacks, the losses and joys, especially those of the steamy moments!!!
A binge-worthy and fast-paced MM fated mates story that's scifi with some fantasy themes.
How much did I like it? 5 Stars Ideas - World Building: 5 Stars Ideas - Plot: 5 Stars Emotional highs and lows: Expert Character Depth: 5 Stars Character interactions: Extensive Animal Characterisation: Expert Non-human Characterisation: Standard Content Warning: Consensual explicit sex scenes. Swearing. Execution: 5 Stars
Okay book but felt like Leti & Draif were basically a couple themselves, it focused more on everything and literally everyONE else than the two characters it was SUPPOSED to be about. Which sucked because I loved them!
Oddly Appealing The story continues to be appealing even with the odd characters and the increasingly complex web of relationships and connected storylines. The same sex relationships are interesting, though I find that the sex scenes are mostly not needed and skim all of them. Decent resolution for the major themes in this book and a gentle push into the next in the series.
Such a good sweet book. A little confusing at times with all the different names. It’s been awhile sense I read the other books so I forgot some stuff.
Poor Lucas is so patient with Draif. Draif has a hard time in the beginning and being kinda of stubborn about denying his feelings towards Lucas. But luckily they work it out pretty quickly. Draif had to go through a lot of loss and emotions. It was hard for Lucas to make him see he was worth love.
The beginning of the relationships is the best. I love the morning breakfast vid calls with their friends one of my favorite parts in the book. Leti and Draifs poems are a little weird. The animals were great.
Each book in the collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
Draif had been a slave for most of his life but now thanks to his best friend Leti he is free. He had been fifteen when he was sold to Leti’s father, but Leti did not want him as a bed-slave. Leti had just wanted him as a friend and brother. Now he was completely free. Draif was demisexual and it took him time to fall in love. The one time he had tried it, the man had betrayed him. Now he realizes just what Lucas means to him.
Lucas knew Draif was his lifemate but also knew that he had to give the man time. Now he has seen Draif’s eyes follow him but wasn’t too sure what to expect. Their relationship is heading into the best direction. On top of that they were going to destroy the Queen and Human First group. It is going to be the fight of their lives.
This story runs right along with the fifth book in this series. It is written a bit different that I am used to but it really does work. It is action packed and the excitement is felt throughout the whole book. I love that even though it has a serious tone to it, there is so much humor mixed in. The war that we have waited on has come and damn if it doesn’t rock. I loved the characters and their quirky attitudes.
I hope that there are many more books in this series. They are stories that will be read many times over. I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to read them over.
I loved it and can’t wait for this authors next book.
Being born into slavery, does not mean you will die in slavery. Actually with understanding, education, strength, and most important love you might even get to kill the very people who enslaved you.
Narration: This was the first book narrated by Connor Brown I’ve listened to. There are parts that he read a bit fast in some places, and I’d wanted to ask him to slow down. Other places it was perfect, and I fell right into the story again. He has a nice deep voice where needed but can lighten it when the character calls for it.
Story: I love this series as a reader. I love the characters and the storyline that runs through the series. It’s a twisted tale that works to pull the reader in. It has some head-hopping that, as an editor, I can get past because I love the story that much. But also as an editor, that was my only catch while reading these. The story is just what the author promises—MM love with little relationship angst and action…oh and potty mouths!
In this installment, we get Draif and Lucas’ story….FINALLY! LOL I love these guys. I’ve been cheering for a HEA for Draif since book 1, and we met him and Leti.
Draif was born a slave, and at the age of thirteen, he was sent for sex-slave training. I won’t go into too much because of spoilers. Leti’s dad had bought him after he was disfigured at age 15, and they became brothers. He’s also a genius in almost anything he attempts. He’s asexual, so there isn’t a lot of sex in this one, but it's not really missing because it's not called for.
Lucas is just amazingly patient with Draif. He’s laid back when needed and a supportive Lieutenant for Draif. He lets Draif just be Draif. He was orphaned as a child, but he’s found his family on Charybdis Station. I was so happy to see him recover and get his HEA.

I doing one one review for all of the books due to I gave book 1 a bad rating and review. Now it seems the author got his or her groove on after book 1 the story started getting better and better and I look forward to hearing book 7 The Rebel Mate when it comes out. In so many ways the series could be compared to out us today one group determined to destroy another because how they may worship, look, race or who they love we see this in our government, religious leaders and white supremacists but in the books this happens in the future were man has gone into apace and met other beings soon their is no full human and what there is very small but they have decided go to war against the non human because of how they look, their race and most likely who they love they decide to kill billions of people for what they wanted A Pure Full Human Race and either kill everyone else or sell them into salvery. As I said I was not pleased with book one but the following books were great and the narrator did a great to bring the story alive. So you check it out
This story essentially completes the main storyline of the series but I read another book is coming.
I liked this story. The timeline happens at the same time as the war with the queen but the author did a good job making it new and fresh. I didn't feel as much mushy love from these characters but I think that was intentional from the author. These are fairly serious/stoic men who live in their own way which is valid too.
As always, the sci fi storyline is well thought out and it feels complete but I suppose the next book with deal with the aftermath.
Draif was absolutely fantastic as he out-strategized and impoverished the Humans First rabble. I loved that Lucas saw the value and incredible ability his mate possessed from the beginning and was willing to allow Draif to shine in the spotlight. This whole story was delightful to read as we saw the beautiful joining of Draif and Lucas, as well as the culmination of all of the preparation that everyone on Charybdis Station has undertaken to date.
I'm also excited to see that it looks like this series will continue with Finn and Fire's stories yet to come.
I've anticipated this book so much and it didnt disappoint. I freaking love this series and this book so much. It has it all love, action, family, laughter, good vs evil. And some steamy scenes too. We finally saw the big battle in the over running story arc that has spanned the series and it was epic. I absolutely loved this book and definitely reccomend it and the whole series. And cant wait for more.
Draif has been here since the very beginning of this series and I cannot say how wonderful his story is. Lucas has known he was Draif's life mate since his first meeting but he did what he knew would make their mating last: he waited for Draif.
As these two learn how to turn their friendship into a relationship (the breakfast scene :) ), they also must battle the Queen and Humans First. Absolutely wonderful.
Rating: 4 stars I thought this to be another good installment in the Blue Solace series. Loved both of the MCs, but I think what makes the book is all the secondary characters. I will say that it is getting harder and harder to keep track of all the children and pets and who belongs to who as the series progresses. I thought the story played out well but felt a bit of a let down at the end. Still, I did enjoy it and am interested to see where the series goes from here.
So much fun! I love this series and cannot wait for more! Must have! (Also Shae needs a story too!) Love the danger, excitement thrilling adventure! Love this huge family too!
Wow, there are like 50 storylines all happening at the same time in this book! Finally Draif realizes he already has his special someone. Can’t wait for more.
