For the people that is giving 5 stars... Just curious... Did you guys felt the same emotion, chemistry, excitement that you felt with the first book? Unfortunately I didn't. The first one has become one of my all time favorite and I was constantly checking the release date for this book for months so I wouldn’t miss it when it came out. With that being said, I have never been more angry, frustrated, and downright outraged with a sequel, or a book in general. Maybe it’s just because I loved the first one so much, but it just really let me down in a major way.

To start, my absolute least favori So I have to start off by saying how extremely excited I was for this book. The first one has become one of my all time favorite and I was constantly checking the release date for this book for months so I wouldn’t miss it when it came out. With that being said, I have never been more angry, frustrated, and downright outraged with a sequel, or a book in general. Maybe it’s just because I loved the first one so much, but it just really let me down in a major way.

To start, my absolute least favorite overused romance series theme is “MC thinks male is a jerk in first book and refuses to be with him, but then comes around and it’s all sweet and great. In the second book all these issues come up and they do nothing but fight the whole time, typically about another guy that comes into the plot, only to make up in the last chapter.” My second absolute least favorite over used romance theme is the whole love triangle thing. I’ve just never been into it. If I read a books description and see it talk about some awesome love triangle, I. Am. Out. Like nope, not today lmao. It’s just too frustrating and ridiculous to read. And what do you know, this book had BOTH of those themes in it. Ya know, people complained that the first one had too many themes like twilight, but at least Bella freaking ended up with the guy she first fell for 🙄🙄🙄. I was incredibly excited when I saw that this book was over 700 pages, but then I read it and I honestly just had horrible anxiety the whole time because I was so stressed about what was happening, and it was a agonizing to get through honestly.

In the first book, Jaxon quickly wins Grace over. He’s funny, sweet, caring, understanding, and he always puts her first over everything. He listens to her opinions and allows her to be a strong woman when necessary. Suddenly in the next book, Grace is accusing him of being overbearing and is constantly picking fights with him. And like, I get it, he is super overprotective and now you’re this badass supernatural, but girl, he thought that he would never see you again, cut him some slack. And she almost never does, which is what really bothers me. Considering she acts like a completely horrible girlfriend, let along person. Completely ignoring him when Hudson is around. Barely fighting when she finds Hudson’s draining all his life force. Laughing and being attracted to his brother when all she ever does is fight with Jaxon. When he accuses her about not paying and attention to him, she goes on about how hard it is for her and how he needs to cut her some slack, yet she won’t return the favor. Not cool bro. And when Hudson constantly bags on Jaxon to Grace, calling him spoiled and whiny, she barely fights to defend him. To be fair, he was written to sound extremely spoiled and whiny in this book, but I don’t think that was fair to him in the slightest, and I’m convinced it was just a way to try to push the readers away from Jaxon and towards Hudson. Because in the first book, he had his flaws, he didn’t need anymore unless you wanted to turn us against him, he was fine as a character as is. I get character development, but that’s not what happened here in the slightest. Don’t break my heart like that, I don’t like books that do that.

Intro Hudson, the almost sole purpose for all of my frustration with this book. Mr bad guy all through the first book and man I wished that it would have stayed that way. I mean I get it, it was character development, but his entire presence just gets on my absolute nerves. From the get go he hints that something intimate went down while Grace was locked in stone, but I was really hoping for the best plot twist ever that he would still turn out bad and was lying. Because I truly couldn’t believe that this story would really take a 180 and just switch the love interests around in the most frustrating and infuriating switch-a-roo of all time. There was even a point when Flinn mentioned people having multiple mates that I was actually hoping for that outcome. And I REALLY don’t want this to become a reverse harem series. Don’t get me wrong, I love those types of books, but it is just so extremely out of place here it’s insane. It just doesn’t fit in my opinion. Now, this author is incredibly talented, so I’m sure that she mentioned that little tidbit for a reason and something along those lines will happen anyway 🙄.

The last chapter was the most infuriating part of the whole book. Now we’re in Hudson’s mind and he does nothing but rip into his brother while he’s weak and broken. Not that he hasn’t done it the whole book, but it’s so incredibly out of place, and I personally feel like Hudson’s playing the victim a little too much. He diminishes everything that Jaxon has gone through and throws it in his face without ever taking any of his own blame. I mean, for crying out loud, when Jaxon accused him of genocide he legit said I’ve done a lot of things but never that. I killed every made werewolf in existance because it was necessary. BOY IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOU THINK IT WAS NECESSARY THATS STILL GENOCIDE. YOU KILLED AN ENTIRE RACE OF PEOPLE OWN UP TO IT. Then the very last paragraph, mainly the last sentence, is what absolutely killed me and put me over board. It just crushed any hope that I had that it wouldn’t go where I thought it was heading. I was originally going to score this book a 4, because I get it, sequels are hard and you have to make drastic choices. But then the last chapter happened, and it went down to a 3. Then to got to those last few lines and here we are at a 1 star. I’m sorry, I just can’t do it. I’m just so frustrated and angry over the whole book and I’m not going to lie and sugar coat it.

I just want to say, that I truly believe that this is an extremely talented author. I didn’t find a single grammatical or spelling error, which is honestly a freaking miracle these days let’s be honest. And the actual writing is so good. I find myself sucked into scenes and (when my heart wasn’t being ripped out of my chest and I didn’t want to scream my frustrations across the room) it was hard to put it down. The only issue I had with the book was the actual creative plot choices made. Normally that wouldn’t be enough for such a low rating but it just really pissed me off to the point where it’s 2AM and I wanna scream my head off with how angry I am but apparently that’s not socially expectable and I shouldn’t do that. And maybe that’s why I’m being so harsh. I’m just so legitimately pissed off with the choices that were made, and I really need to rant so I can calm down and stop seeing red.

I’m going to read the next book because I’m PRAYING to every single god that exists and any deity that will listen that Grace is with Jaxon in the end and that Hudson can screw off. I’m sorry, I know I’m awful but I just had so many expectations for this book and non of them happened. Again, extremely well written and well put together, I just can’t get over the broken romance aspect of it, I’m sorry. 🥺🥺😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

First of all, the main reason why I loved crave was the relationship between Grace and jaxon. Not the awkward dialogue, the corny plot or the poorly made fantasy world. Too many times in crave, I cringed and had to put the book down. But the amazing, heart warming and awe inspiring relationship made me stick it out. I’ve always been a sucker for the fiercely protective guy who is not ashamed to show his true love and emotion towards his girl. And yes I know we Go easy on me, first time reviewing!

First of all, the main reason why I loved crave was the relationship between Grace and jaxon. Not the awkward dialogue, the corny plot or the poorly made fantasy world. Too many times in crave, I cringed and had to put the book down. But the amazing, heart warming and awe inspiring relationship made me stick it out. I’ve always been a sucker for the fiercely protective guy who is not ashamed to show his true love and emotion towards his girl. And yes I know we are in 2020 and girls do not need a man to protect them. But the love and adoration is what’s gets me every time.

So imagine my horror when Grace comes back after almost four months (and a error in the book: Jaxon says she’s been gone for 126 days, that’s more than three and a half months) and we see NOTHING of the relationship the ENTIRE first book was build upon? I think I can count on one hand the times we actually have dialogue between these two?? We barely even see Jaxon? Or the order? In the first book we got a glimpse of the instinctual protectiveness between a vampire and his mate, but it’s absolutely non existent in the second book, other than some weird interactions about the fact that Hudson is in Graces head and Jaxon is a tad jealous.

I get that Tracy is trying to alienate Jaxon for his protectiveness and not giving Grace the opportunity to stand up for herself, but I don’t see this in the book. Tracy is trying to drive a wedge between them so that Grace has the opportunity to fall in love with Hudson. And the love triangle and the whole shabang is classic ya fantasy theme, but it is poorly executed. Yes we have a new insight in Hudson’s mind and character, but I still have nothing bad to say about Jaxon. Tracy didn’t manage to alienate him enough that I would prefer Grace with Hudson.

The plot in this book frustrated me so much and made me throw the book away too many times. Reading the whole Ludares tournament thing and the challenges to get Hudson away, gave me the feeling of reading a children’s book. Not a ya book. The plot was too obvious and poorly made and the whole book just felt both rushed and too slow. There’s so much going on and the plot is so obvious and too juvenile for me too even give a care.

There’s some parts of the book that bugs me. One of those things is this quote from Grace “A girl who spent the last two weeks hating him”. Ever since Hudson first talked to Grace, I have not gotten the impression that she has ever hated him. Not once. Yes they fought and yelled, but it always felt like light banter for me, not genuine hate. And the whole “the bad guy isn’t really bad, he’s just misunderstood and misjudged? Getting pretty old to read about that in like, every single ya book??

And I even had to plow through 700 something pages to get to hear a terrible joke from Grace? Tracy Wolff forgot half of everything that made the characters behind when she wrote Crush, and that’s a absolutely shame cuz the characters was the only thing worth it to keep reading.

I’m still gonna read the third and the fourth book, but only to see what Tracy Wolff is gonna do to my poor Jaxy-Waxy. And I sincerely hope she’s putting in more work in making those.

This series is so entertaining and quirky, that it’s really fun to read. But there are a few things that I was not a fan of. One was the love triangle that was formed, especially with two of the people being brothers. I don’t like love triangles that involve siblings, I find it incredibly uncomfortable. I have experienced the full spectrum of human emotion while reading this book. I went from liking it, to wanting to pitch it across an open field filled with lava.

To quote John Green, "My thoughts are stars I Cannot fathom into constellations." Did that line make you puke? Good because Crush made me wish for the sweet release of death. I'm not being dramatic when I saw this book physically harmed me and I have never been so angry about a book before.

So, how to summarize this book? Think ACOTAR turned into a knock-off CW Vampire teen show, oh and there are gargoyles. (Well, a gargoyle.) That's all the summary I can give you right now because I'm currently To quote John Green, "My thoughts are stars I Cannot fathom into constellations." Did that line make you puke? Good because Crush made me wish for the sweet release of death. I'm not being dramatic when I saw this book physically harmed me and I have never been so angry about a book before.

So, how to summarize this book? Think ACOTAR turned into a knock-off CW Vampire teen show, oh and there are gargoyles. (Well, a gargoyle.) That's all the summary I can give you right now because I'm currently scooping my brain off the ground. So, let's start with the short list: things I liked.

Things I liked:
- The writing improved tremendously from Crave - I will admit that. There is no denying that Wolff had a better editing team or something when she published this book. There was not a single AF in sight.
- The chapters are short.
- Hudson is the only tolerable character.

Okay, let's move into why you are all really here.

Things I didn't liked:
- The cheesy chapter headings don't do it for me.
- Every character was as interesting as a boiling cabbage, which is to say not at all. Listen, I'm SO tired of having every single main supernatural creature white. I'm tired of the white heroine and the hot white dude. Do brown and black not exist as main characters in the supernatural world? Granted, if we did, we would not live in Alaska, but still! Stop giving me unseasoned chicken when I want a damn steak!
- The stupid quidditch / triwizard tournament knock off went on for way to long and it bored me. I could have done without.
- Not a gargoyle fan, sorry.
- Authors cannot add a gay character simply to say they have a gay character in their story. Shame on you, Wolff.
- It irritates me to no end that authors like Wolff, he essentially write fanfiction / "borrow" ideas from more popular books, get so much recognition and amazing indie authors or authors struggling to get published do not get the same recognition simply because they did not rip off another series. That's just me though.
- When y'all are ready to talk about the toxic masculinity and dysfunctional relationships, i'll be over here sipping my tea.

I'm done. Crush was a book I never wanted to read and I would rather only read Rory Powers books for the rest of my days if it meant that I would never have to see this serious again. ...more

Crush has so many deep takes and (let's be honest) more interesting than the first book, Crave. This book takes a few months after the ending of Crave. And she doesn't remember what happened to her in those lost moment. Well, she is determined to know what happened and save those who she loves.

Wherever I thought this book was going initially, I was sorely mistaken.

Yeah, this book came out of nowhere. And I fully confess to you that I did not think I would enjoy a YA paranormal romance this much in 2020, but here we are. I mean, you'd think that the cliches would turn me off, right? It isn't 2010 after all. But boy, was I pleasantly surprised.
