I tried reading this as a read-aloud with my 8 year-old daughter as a bedtime book, but she asked me to stop and find a different book. She found it very boring and to be honest, I did too. I tried to finish my ARC for the sake of a review, but ended up merely skimming it because it just wasn't my cup of tea at all. Both of us tend to enjoy this type of book, but we found very slow-paced and just not interesting. We didn't particularly like Meena or care about her desire to be a superhero. ...more

Thank you to the author for sharing an advanced copy with Collabookation.
Meena is a rainbow-loving, treasure-seeking, impetuous protagonist and nothing gets in her way. I enjoyed getting to know her better in the second Meena book (Meena Meets her Match comes first, but is not necessary to read beforehand). While the first book focuses on a friendship gone sour and the onset of seizures, the second delves deeper into Meena's character.
When Meena sees a first grader bent down in front of a van,

Thank you to the author and #SimonandSchuster for an ARC of this book for #bookportage.

Have you read MEENA MEETS HER MATCH by Karla Manternach? If you have, then you can preorder this sequel, coming out in March 2020. If you havent, I highly suggest you pick up a copy so you can prepare yourself, as you wont want to miss it.

Meena is a character with a huge personality. Shes spunky, imaginative, self-involved, and headstrong. When she rescues a first grader, everyone calls her a hero, and she

I've been a fan of Meena's since she first planted her colorful, distinctive flag in MEENA MEETS HER MATCH more than a year ago. Now she's back with a story that is page-turning and heart-warming and chuckle-worthy, even more appealing than her first book. Meena is unique in so many ways, including having a recently diagnosed health issue (epilepsy) that continues to affect her in ways she does and doesn't understand.
That is a seldom-explored situation, but her page-filling personality and

Thank you to the author and publisher for sharing Never Fear, Meenas Here with me and #BookSojourn.
This is the second Meena Zee story, in which Meena is dealing with her epilepsy diagnosis in a very real-kid way. Meena is headstrong, opinionated, and has a big personality. She doesnt want to need help, she wants to be strong and independent. When Meena discovers a mysterious Rainbow Ring, she believes it has given her superpowers, and she goes about on a self-involved quest to discover what

A beautiful story starring Meena, a third grader who wants to be a superhero. When she can't find her own super powers, Meena learns about everyday super heroes and starts to recognize the good in everyone around her. Such a feel good story.

Never Fear, Meenas Here! by @mskarlam is the second book in the Meena Series. Meena finds a rainbow washer on the ground right before she saves a little girl from being hit by a car and is sure the rainbow ring has given her super powers. She is determined to find out what other powers the ring gives her- mind control, the ability to fly, super speed? She drives her best friend away with her self obsession with being super and is not kind to her little sister. But at the heart of this story is a ...more
