On June 29, 2004, journalist Annie Jacobsen, traveling with her family on Northwest Airlines flight 327, witnessed what she believed was a terrorist ?dry run.? The blogosphere quickly made world news of Jacobsen's article on her terrifying experience, launching her on a year-long investigation. In Terror in the Skies, Jacobsen tells, for the first time, the full story of the events on Northwest 327 and the investigation that followed. What happened on her flight, she discovered, was not an isolated incident, and if our air security does not improve, 9-11 is likely to happen again.

Jacobsen's first book, about a scary event she experienced firsthand within a couple of years of 9/11—at a time when Dubya was wasting money and lives on the so-called "war on terror" and all US air traffic workers and security were supposedly on "high alert" for all signs of terrorist activity.
The picture the author paints is scary, yet all too familiar: government agencies handcuffed by stupid leaders and more stupid policies and too little manpower dropping the ball all over the place, but always seeming to have enough ammunition to fire shots at the accusers.
I lost count of how often I swore out loud as I read this book.
It was very difficult to track down a copy of this book. The local library didn't have it. I couldn't find it on audible or amazon or my usual used bookstores. I was finally able to find a copy from Interlibrary loan. I'm glad I got to read it. It was a fast read once I had time to actually sit down and read it. I think of this book as Annie Jacobsen's origin story. It is where she started and how she ended up becoming the person who wrote so many amazing books about what the government is actually or potentially doing. It was also traveling back in time to a life altering event for our country & its aftermath. It stirred up a lot of emotions.
Glad to get ahold of this book- not available at local libraries, costs $$$ to buy a copy on Amazon Local library was able to get a copy on an inter library loan. Cover ups are everywhere- Annie Jacobsen does well at unraveling details.
